  • Positive feedback from Grays,

"GraysOnline says this buyer is AWESOME! A Valued Customer - Thank you! "

I wonder if they're hoping we'll return the feedback positively, before they go around cancelling orders

    • I got positive feedback last night straight after I paid.

    • I hope you all slam them with negative feedback and it affects their seller account. Then perhaps they will hire someone with half a brain, you know, an employee who doesn't make a 'price mistake' 6 times on eBay and the website at the same time

      • +2

Why so mean, we all know its a gamble.

        • +1

          mean

constant pricing 'mistakes' are not an accidental thing

        • Consider it done boss 😈

        • @sumoyoshi: Gee I hope you dont make mistakes.

Very simple here. Its on Credit card, so nothing lost by trying. Sometimes these things pay off other times they don't. If you arent in there and it does pay off then you lose. Otherwise its a little annoying, but that's all

        • @RockyRaccoon:

Gee I hope you dont make mistakes.

most people learn from their mistakes. Kogan, Grays, etc do not. Imagine you turned up to work and made the same mistake 10 times a day. What would happen?

        • @sumoyoshi:
And then take into account the combined time you've wasted for your customers. 2000 ssds, 15mins for each purchase, thats 500 hours of your customers' time equating to $25000, $1000s lost interest whilst the refunds are issued, increased PayPal charges due to constant mistakes

      • Most likely they have a sync script to pass a single price change to ebay from the website (or an inventory / stock management system pushes out to ebay and the website) - these thing exist to save time and limit inconsistency. So it's probably a few errors that have been multiplied. Also given a few comments above I'm guessing they probably just pull the pricing from a suppliers sheet / feed and it's probably the supplier that has errord mixing up some ones sell/buy price with cost price.

        • If the supplier screwed up then maybe we'll get lucky.

Not exactly counting on it though.

    • +1

      Nope neg ftw

    • +2

I got the following (For my Pro order)

"GraysOnline thanks you for an easy, pleasant transaction. Excellent buyer. A+++"

So fingers crossed I can respond with "Fantastic product at a great price. Excellent seller"

  • +8

It's both worrying and encouraging that Gray hasn't really done anything up till now…..

    • came here to see if anyone had a shipping or refund email yet! I've got nothing so far!

    • Hopefully they're considering honouring them

      • I highly doubted, but they should have reacted by now.

        • they did react, they pulled the listings haha

expect a refund in a month or two

        • @sumoyoshi:

          more like sold out….

        • @mg_k: there was 700 left at the time they pulled the listing which just so happened to be not long after they opened for the day. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened there.

        • @mg_k: They pulled all the SSD listings it looks like, searched both SSD and SanDisk, nada. Just adds more weight to the thought we'll be getting a refund unfortunately.

I think someone might have been right in saying that it could be a companies liquidation sale to pay debt, which would make it a very possible deal!

      • +3

what company that was on the verge of liquidating would have 1k SSDs

        • Who knows, but it's a possibility.

        • @doweyy: yes a one in seven zillion chance of you being correct, but it's possible

        • +7

maybe they hired the Dick Smith guy who bought all the batteries?

        • @sumoyoshi:

So there was a one in seven zillion chance that DSE failed and firesold all their products for 90-95% off? It can happen anytime man

        • @doweyy: no store stocks 1tb SSD's in the 1000's if they are going broke, good luck but there is no chance of you getting your SSD, you have to be in it to win it. You might receive a Grays voucher for your troubles.

They do it all the time. It's the MO of these stupid Australian companies.

        • @doweyy: i dont recall any good DSE sales.

        • @insular:

There were fire sales in most DSE stores for the last few days of trade, ink going out the door for 30c each, phone cases 2c each etc.

        • @doweyy: i dont recall any good DSE sales

    • +1

      They're still formulating a response.

    • +2

      It's both worrying and encouraging…

I think they call that Schrödinger's purchase.

  • +1

Would this be the biggest price error on OzB in terms of value bought? between the 2 ssd & 1 compact flash card I posted close to $300,000 in sales lol

    • +1

I'm willing to bet closer to 500k when you factor in the website sales etc and possibly the CF card deal. $160k was only the estimate for one out of the five or so listings.

  • I've heard nothing since the order confirmation emails.
I guess they're too busy finding who is responsible and tearing them a new one.

  • Biggest surprise will be if they offer store vouchers as a refund - this is called FLASH sale :)

    • +1

If it was bought on ebay or paid with paypal then Grays only got 2 options fulfil all the orders placed or issue a full refund nothing else they can do ebay and Paypal rules are very strict. Still no response from them at all and the day is pretty much over.

    • It'd be breach of <insert applicable Australian law here>. They MUST return to original purchase method. They can TRY to offer voucher instead, but you're in your right to reject it.

    • +10

Bought 10? Oh my … why not 100?

        • -4

dont worry localhost is jealous you could spend 2.1K.
im all with you and buying 10+ of price errors, but i didnt this time on this item.

        • +1

All is fair in love and bargains. ; )
Enjoy your SSDs if they arrive.

        • Do you even proofread before posting?

        • +5

I hope they wont refund yours till next year

        • +5

If you missed out because everyone before you bought 10 each, I'm certain you'd be the one parroting here about how greedy folks ruin it for others, people are inconsiderate etc.

If this gets cancelled, I'll take solace in the fact that greedy twats like yourself (and the rest buying 10+ at a time) also missed out as well.

PS Your postscript message is abominable.

      Buys 10, doesn't up-vote the deal…

Yep, summarises a lot about this site.

      • +3

        Isn't that normal Broden behaviour.

      • +8

It'd be funny if they refund people who bought multiple SSDs and honour all the single orders.

      • +1

Wow - that must have stung. They upvoted a few minutes after your post - great work!!

    • by the way that email doesn't mean anything and is automated

For a pair of headphones I bought, this was the paypal time stamp:
NAD VISO HP50 Over-Ear Headphones (Black)

      13 Feb 2017 23:29:02 AEDT
You sent a payment of $200.76 AUD to GRAYS (NSW) PTY LTD

and this is the automated ebay email timestamp:
      13 February 2017 at 23:29

By then the Package had already been received on (checked via the tracking number) :

    • +2

      Haha, you overpaid ~$300.

If you had bought direct from Grays it would have been only $1790 + small shipping fee.

  • Haven't heard anything yet but the other eBay grays sales of the salter travel weight scale has now shipped.

    • What to do, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Can't get everything everywhere.

  • +8

got an email that it has shipped.
    http://imgur.com/a/wgkia

    • That's not the email is it? That's just the ebay page that doesn't really mean anything.

e: Oh apparently that highlighted box icon means it's been shipped.

      • No tracking information
        Means nothing

      • I don't know, that's just the generic delivery estimate once your purchase is done. I get an email once the item is actually shipped (which I haven't yet for these).

Edit: My bad, I didn't see the icon in the picture. I bought mine between 20:10 and 20:20 last night too.

    • You lucky motherfather! :)

    • how long after the deal was posted did you buy your item if you don't mind me asking? Trying to see if they're honouring the early ones.

      • +2

i purchased at 9.30PM syd time.

  • Wouldn't paypal or the credit card provider cover your loss?

    • +1

People are just upset that grays, which is well known for its questionable practices, seems to be making these 'mistakes' often for free advertising.

      • I understand that but if they go under, won't the refunds be covered?

      • Don't know what they'll be advertising here besides the fact that such a monumental mistake was made. On the other hand if they honour the deals (doubtful), they'll be legends.

      • Advertising how lousy they are? Yep!

  • Does the lack of response from graysonline mean people hit the jackpot or that they're just a pos that can't fix their shit after a full working day?

    • Well it is a Friday before a long weekend, so I expect they'll think about looking into it on Tuesday lol

      • +1

        What long weekend?

        • It's Labour Day/8 Hours Day in Vic/Tas. Maybe not NSW?

Also Adelaide Cup day in SA

    • -4

I nominate you to give them a ring and ask on behalf of all of ozbargain:

      http://www.graysonline.com/contact-us

  • I have a feeling this is legit. I bought a couple of the Pro's, and a few minutes ago had a positive feedback added for the purchase to my Ebay Score for this purchase:

"GraysOnline hopes to deal with you again! Great Customer. Thank you!!!"

The parts have also been marked as 'shipped' now!!

It it was a mistake I wouldn't have expected them to go to the trouble of leaving a +ve feedback.

    • +4

      Feedback is an automated process…

      • I bought this last night and feedback was only placed there within the last 30 minutes. I checked my score earlier in the day.

        • Feedback is automatic and an eBay store setting.

  • +8

I rekon they did it on purpose so they put all our money in a high interest account for a few days to make money off us. Before refunding 😉

    • INB4 OZbargain forum discussion, " Recently came across $500k. Where do I invest for the best return in one month".

    • +6

they put all our money in a high interest account

Please post where such an account exists - high interest ???

Would be one of the highest rated posts here at ozbargain - if it was possible

  • The money just went out of my bank account to PayPal.

  • +27
    • +2

      well that's just goodna

    • +1

Lol he must have got them after the Pro's were sold out.

    • +6

"but I end up change my plan for custom building gaming" Bahaha, Try harder

    • +4

Making $100…. but its gumtree, so he'll be getting. Will you take $100 for it? Can pickup today.

  • +12

This reminds me of the time a hot girl was looking in my direction at a bar. I was 99% sure nothing was going to happen but I still had hope.

    • +9

then what??.. there was a guy behind you??

      • +3

He kept checking and checking and hoped that the package would come to his house.

        • +1

Most clever response in the thread^

        • So he could get his fingers into the box….Yep, ive gone too far. Bring on the negs

        • @RJK: haha, cheers :)

    • Cool story bro, then what happened you went home and cry yourself to sleep?

      • +3

        I don't remember, I was drunk

        • prolly was a "gurl" instead

  • Holy crap, GraysOnline have removed everything from their Ebay store!

    • I'm still seeing over 10,000 products

      • Doh, you are right, I was following one of the links in the Ebay email to me and it didn't show any items in the store.

Edit: I think it's time I go to bed actually.

        • Bed sounds like a very good idea
