Garden Solar Motion Sensor Lights - Your Experiences - Good Bad Models Products etc

Just looking to light up some bad hazardous dark spots in the front yard and maybe plant some in the backyard for better lighting after dark. No gutter models required or wall mounted as the side walls don't get much sunlight so directly into the ground looks like the way to go or some sort of platform model.

Primitive research find cheap Chinese eBay NiCd batteries to be the best or aldi NiMH ones for solar.

Probably just gonna get some planted ones unless I can find a good wall spot for a wall mounted one.

Which ones have you found to work the best and which ones most importantly should I avoid or are too over priced.

Looking at medium pricing for both back yard and front yard as there is petty theft common in my area.

Thank you.

  • Can't help you with which ones to buy but be careful about the ones you put in the front yard. Friends of ours put some there and they got stolen overnight. I wouldn't go for anything too expensive and maybe look at a motion detector light as well for the porch.

    • This is what I am most afraid of. For backyard I should be ok even though somebody could technically walk to the backyard from the front yard if they see some pretty lights (no fence or hate or nothing).

Definitely need to get one for down stairs with some motion sensing as there is no light down there at all.

  • I have always bought cheap ones, except a pair that went onto the wall which were med price. I tend to break them when getting too near with the blower vac and they tumble away. Even without a fall, the ones I have bought stopped working too soon for my liking. Not sure if the expensive ones are any better.

    • I replaced the original batteries with eneloops; mine still going strong after years.

  • +1

Well and truly exceeded my expectations
