  • Photo?? Sure it wasn't the 3 Series?

Great news if it is true … and as you said, hopefully the 65"s come down in price too

  • This will be a good deal. Kicking myself a little, I bought the Hisense series 3 65k3300uw last weekend for $1157 and getting a little too much flashlighting/ clouding when the room is dark, top right corner is just so noticeable to me.. may have been better getting the smaller series 7.

    • Had the same problem and I ended up returning it back and getting it replaced, also was dissapointd with the app store they have on these 2 coming from my samsung 55''which had everything in there, but ye if the screen goes all black and you see some light on one of the corners thats a faulty panel most likely or they didnt fit it properly and its pushing in more than it should

      • Yeah that sounds like it. Because I bought it from able home office I don't like my return chances I might try going through Hisense. Did you send back to retailer?

        • +1

I bought it from The Good Guys, I made a phone call and they sent 2 guys to pick it up the day after and they brought in the new one, you should hurry dont let the week pass , they are obligated to replace or refund as far as i know especially if its not older than a week

        • @Konstantin:
Thanks… Public holidays, I will try Able on Saturday. I don't think they will be as reasonable as the good guys though. There operation was small scale/questionable at best. It was a "I'll help you carry this 40kg purchase out the front door and 400m through the shopping centre with out a trolley" approach to a loading dock. The alarm bells were ringing.

I did stop look at the local Good guys floor model yesterday to check i wasnt losing my mind, and i could see any bleed/clouding/flashlighting at all compared to my set. And it was a reasonably dark area of the store too.

  • Shows 1298 when you click the link. Are you sure this is the price ?

    Thanks

    • +2

      It now shows $898

  • What do you guys recommend beside this tv for a 55 inch?

    • +1

Look at some of the Panasonic ones. But they won't be this cheap.

    • +4

I've just been through the 55 inch shopping process, and narrowed it down to either the Hisense 7 series or the Sony 7000 series. I bought the Sony due in most part to the Android smart features. Both looked amazing in the many, many stores I visited!

      • How much did you get the Sony for?

        • I paid just under $1100 from the Sony store online, but customer service and shipping were terrible.

        • @adriany:
          In what sense? Pls elaborate.

      • Just got a Sony, Android TV is awesome. Can use your phone as a remote and keyboard.

Also get SuperMax Wizard. Can stream anything you want :)

    • Just got the Sony x850D 2 weeks ago for $1500 ($2000 atm), if I didn't go for the sony I was going to get this Hisense TV @ $1200, so $900 is ridiculously cheap!

    • got the FHD version for $681 @ Bing Lee a few weeks ago :)

  • -4

This is amazing if it really is the 7 series. I suspect that it's not though.

  • +2

Saw in store at Rockingham, WA.

Can confirm it is definitely the 7000 series

  • $400 of 7 series 65" as well?

  • Happy days. Link showing $898 now.

  • What are people's thoughts on which tv is better this or the KD55X7000D for $999 at Costco?

    • +3

Sony. The screen/picture quality are on par but I'd pay the extra for Sony's build quality and Android OS.

      • Hisense has a 3 year warranty. What's Sony's?

        • 1 year with on-site pick up within 25km of a Sony authorised service centre.

        • @Chateau: Warranty time is irrelevent in Australia. ACCC law states, reasonable amount of time. I've had a tv shit itself at just under 4 years, sony replaced it for me. It's pretty reasonable to expect at least 5 years out of a tv.

    • +1

Comparing a number of TVs in store last month, I narrowed it down to those two which to my eyes were better than the rest of the TVs at this price, and pretty close. I thought the Hisense had a small edge but eventually it's the 3 years warranty that made me go for it. The OS is clearly disappointing though, so if the warranty isn't a big deal for you, I'd probably go for the Sony.

  • what os is this tv using?

    • Opera TV operating system.

      • so can i install other apps like on Android?

        • +2

Nope. You get what you're given.
My bad, there is a paltry 'app store' on Opera TV OS.

        • Netflix and Youtube work flawlessly with my series 7. The screen mirroring didn't work with my Nexus 5X out of the box but after downloading a 3rd party app from the Play store that works too now. Can't say much about the other apps as I have not tried them.

        • @ytumer: ytumer, would you mind sharing which app you used? Thanks

        • @ytumer: thx, just got one with jackson 8 outlet surge for $892

    • +1

The OS on this TV is not great, but you can easily fix that with a sub $100 Android TV box like the Mi Box. But having said that, it still comes with the most common apps and features you would expect in a modern smart TV (e.g: Netflix, youtube, Plex, Freeview plus, Wireless display support, HDR capable built-in media player etc..)

      • +1

Also if you have a ps4/xbox most of the main apps are already on that anyway. I can't remember the last time I used the native OS on my TV

  • Great TV. I paid $1095 2 weeks ago at Domayne, unfortunately outside the price guarantee period now.

A steal at $898. Deal ends tomorrow as per the email I received.

    • doesnt that mean the 7days ran out today (Thurs-Wed , 7days) so would mean you'll miss out by one day if you go to them tomorrow.

i guess you can try tomorrow, just show them your receipt and the JB website.

      • I edited my comment. Got my weeks messed up. I purchased on the 30th of March.

        • i guess you could still try but I doubt it now - its only $200 and think, you have had a great TV for 2 weeks.

whats the menu system like - does it change channels quick etc? does FTA looks ok?
anything you dont like about it?

        • +1

@PVA: Yeah, a bit annoyed but still happy with the price I paid.

Menu system is okay, fairly basic.

Channels change quick enough for me. FTA channels look good. I've played some 4K video samples from USB and they just look stunning.

Nothing I don't like so far. For $898 I'd definitely recommend it.

  • omgodness I would have bought this if I didnt buy the KU6000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • +1

Here's a thorough review of this TV, it rrp'd for 1500 back on release mid last year and seems pretty flawless, I'm very tempted.

    http://eftm.com.au/2016/08/hard-to-resist-the-hisense-55-ser…

    • has the new firmware been released for the hdr issue he mentions?

      • +1

Considering they said the fix would be ready in 30 days I reckon we'd be safe to assume its all good now, looks like an incredible tv to me

        • +1

$900 is a bargain going by the review.

        • I read the comments at the bottom of the that review, and there are still a couple of people complaining about a lack of working HDR. Anyone have experience otherwise?

    • +1

That review is far from thorough. It's purely subjective, the reviewer doesn't even take one quantitative measurement. How's the greyscale accuracy, colour accuracy, contrast ratio? What's the backlighting method, calibration options… the list could go on.

  • Anyone know if you can install kodi to this TV from playstore?

    • No. Wrong OS

      • Just checking that connecting an android TV box with Kodi installed will work though?

        • Of course it will, just plug it in.

  • This is only $100 cheaper than bing Lee. What's the usual street price with this model?

    • Click the Related Products image and it'll show previous deals.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/hisense-55m7000uwg

      • Thanks heaps

Looks like it's cheaper than the last deal by $58

    • Bing Lee was $1095 yesterday, they dropped their price to $995 today by the looks.

  • What's the best bang-for-your-buck 65" 4K around atm? What should I wait for?

    • +3

The answer depends on how many bucks you got

      • Happy to spend up to 1.5K probably? Less is better obviously though.

        • The Chang Hong from Bing Lee was decent in the low $700s via eBay. Not so much at $999.

          There's always the Aldi version.

The Hisense 7000 might end up under $1500.

  • +1

i have had this tv for a few months now, also have a sony x80 4k 55.out of the box its terrible, reds make your eyes bleed and the picture looks over processed but with some time tweaking the settings its a fantastic picture and the sound is pretty good for a tv (i run it through a av system)
startup times and os response is quick

opera ecosystem sucks, has all the basic apps like netflix plex and stan but forget about kodi (i stream it chromecast via my phone )but all function quickly and without issue

have had a few issues with it randomly resetting the settings…..turning cec off reverting back to original picture settings resetting network etc not all at once but at random but this hasnt happened for quite a while.

i havent tried any hdr content but 4k looks nice

i paid 1k for mine and would again,at this price if you are in the market for a tv i think its a great purchase but if your budget allows go for a sony/samsung etc
i am really happy with mine and would buy it again but prefer the sony

    • What settings did you tweak? Is there are particular forum post or blog that you based the changes off from? I have played with the settings somewhat but I think there is room for improvement.

      • i cant remember what forum it was ,i googled hisense m7000 settings and dug through
turning off all the adaptive contrast and smooth motion did wonders but its tweaking the colour settings that brings it into check

  • I am about to pay off my lay by for the Samsung 55" KS8000 ($1498 Boxing Day). Is the Samsung $600 better? I've read a heap of positive comments regarding this model.

    • +2

The Samsung you got was the buy of the year and will continue to be until next boxing day. LG and Samsung lead the way especially with 8000 and 9000 and OLED.
The Hisense is a fantastic TV and price but is a step below these guys.

Not many people realize how good that ks8000 for $1500 was.

      • +1

I was tossing up between the Hisense 7 series and the KS8000 as well, and ended up getting the KS8000 on Boxing Day. Could not be happier, the picture is incredible and everything works great. Great looking TV too, very sleek.

I read a lot of good reviews of Hisense as well and I'm sure it's a good TV, but the KS8000 is brilliant for $1500.

      • HN had the 8000 for $1498 a few months later I bought the 6000 coz it was cheaper

  • +2

I will see if i can push them down on price on the 65" 7 series over the weekend. Let you know how i go.

    • +1

Got mine for $1595 a few weeks ago. Let us know how you go.

    • this is what i'm after!!!

    • Any luck?

      • +1

Best I could get is $1890 with free delivery and setup from HN. Tried HN Jb and Good guys. Good Guys were out of stock and were going to call Hisense on Tues but another salesman said he spoke to them last week and they had run out the model,no more stock.

  • Videopro are having a cost+$1 sale this Saturday (in store only I believe)….and it appears they stock the 55 series 7 according to their website. Pricing may end up being similar to JB, however stock levels will differ.

    • Just tried videopro. Reading between the lines, this price is above their cost price.

      • Oops - got that the wrong way round.

VideoPro's cost price is above this price ($895).

        • So, purchasing from VP this Saturday could be $896?

    • Update: This is now on at VideoPro for $895.

  • Got mine for $1055 two weeks ago. Never opened it so will go back for a refund or use VISA price protection.

  • bought mine last weekend for $1190, good old price protection FTW!

    • Will you claim via Visa or JB?

      • I think mine is part of the mastercard platinum package.
not sure how it works, haven't tried it before.
Is this a net only price or in the catalogue ?

        • My Visa needs it to be a catalog. BUT I will go back to JB first.

        • +1

@boxall: and ask them to refund the difference ?
Edit* local store said they will refund the difference today or saturday.

        • @steveb123:

Will ring today. No need to return the TV I hope.

  • Big thread here about the model. Seems to be good bang for your buck but there are a lot of issues too:

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/hisense-55-65m7000-uled-own…

    • All TVs these days seem to have some issues.

  • +8

$895 @ Harvey Norman (with free local delivery and installation)

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tv-blu-ray-home-theatre/tvs/t…

    • makes this JB deal not a bargain

      • Unless you want to pickup today and use over Easter, or have to take a day off work to receive.

That being said, does anyone have experience with HN deliveries? What is the turn around usually?

        • It also says in store pick up as well, so you don't have to have it delivered.

        • HN has a good delivery team. Last time i order online and they call me on the next day for the time available.

        • They have already called and said will deliver this Saturday (Brisbane)

    • What is included in installation?

      • They said it is just tabletop installation, not wall mounting.

    • Ouch, I got mine from JB yesterday and had to pay for the delivery. Do they reimburse in cases like this?

      • Well, this sucks. They just changed delivery to Tuesday instead of Saturday

  • Guess it pays to call the store i bought mine from for $1095. Domayne's price guarantee is 14 days so i'm headed down for the difference today.
