Complimentary Travel Insurance

Does anyone know what credit cards come with complimentary travel insurance (without having to buy tickets) using them?

I only paid $60 using my CBA diamond and planning to close it very soon (before flying)

EDIT: Have CBA diamond, Coles, ANZ black, Westpac black, Amplify Signature St George, 28 Degrees.

  • You dont need to necessarily buy tickets though most have a clause that you spend a minimum of $500 towards which ever trip you want to cover. You will need receipts such as hotels/cars… this spend must be before the trip commences. Not food etc.

  • They are all different in their T&C.

I've claimed on my Plat Amex insurance before after not spending a cent on my trip. So I can recommend Amex…. :P

  • CBA have had complimentary travel insurance on their Gold, Platinum and Diamond cards since 1st July 2015, you don't need to spend anything at all on the card to qualify, so unless you have a specific reason for closing the card before your trip, you could use the insurance on your Diamond card. You get basic cover automatically without having to do anything, but to get a more comprehensive level of cover (or add any extras like cover for snow sports etc), you just need to activate the insurance through the CBA website. https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/insurance/travel-insura…

    • Need to pay annual fee in July, can try to get it waived but not sure how big the chance is.

      • Thought the reason might be something like that :)

  • +1

My credit card comes with travel insurance that tells me that I'm handsome and smart. It's very complimentary.
