Philips GC7035 / GC7031 Perfect Care Viva Ironing System - $109 (RRP $399) after $50 Cashback and $20 Discount at Myer

1000
ANNIVERSARY20

I submitted a similar deal to this in January but this is even cheaper (by $2!!!). Either way it's a pretty amazing price for a solid and seriously good steam generator iron that requires no temperature adjustment.

Use voucher code ANNIVERSARY20 for the $20 discount.

The cashback promotion is here

Edit: GC7035 appears out of stock, however Philips GC7031 is also available for the same price thanks ozzyoi.

This is part of Mother's Day deals for 2017.

  • So I tried mine out before and have a few questions I can't seem to find quick answers for that I'm hoping some knowledgeable ozb members can help me with.

    1) I get an alarm noise around 2 minutes from turning it on. Is this telling me that it's ready to go? Or that I should take it off the base as it might burn it? The first time it had no steam after 2 minutes, I had to leave it for 5+ minutes for it to make a fair bit of steam.

    2) People have said that these types of irons don't get hot until you use the steam. Well this one gets bloody hot (must have a heating element in the iron) and I'm worried about leaving it on the base (smells like toasty plastic when doing so) or on the ironing board. It can't be set up upright, so I must leave it on either the base or the ironing board but it's bloody hot!

What do people do with this iron when it's on but they are not using it? Can it be set on the plastic base for a few minutes at a time? Is there any danger of it burning/melting if left on the base it looks like it's designed to rest on?

    3) When the iron is locked into the base full of water, can the iron handle be used to cart the unit around? Or is that asking for the plastic lock to break and the unit slam on the floor?

      1) Yes, it is ready to go. You can start ironing now.
      2) Steam is generated in the soleplate. I let it rest on the ironing board and sometimes on the base unit. I have not encountered the melting plastic smell.
      3) I use the iron handle to carry it around but the quick start guide illustration shows that it should be carried at the bottom of the base unit. (https://www.download.p4c.philips.com/files/g/gc7031_20/gc703…)

I have had this iron for at least a year now.

  • Wierd they still have stock on their eBay site but not website..

Also pity the Philips GC7710 (down from $499 to $179) is not part of the cash back offer.

    Just pity all round really.

  • GC7031 out of stock :(

  • Thanks OP! ended up buying the floor stock GC7035 at $150

Just bought GC7031 from Myer Pitt Street.
$179 plus $20 Myer gift card.

Sales attendant was pushing the extended warranty (+2 years) for $55 like she knew it wouldn't last much longer than the standard 2 years.
    Will see how it goes.

    Thanks OP

    • I got the 7031 as well. We can set up a support group in 2 years when all of ours start to fail then :)

    • Wife checked in store (Myer Karrinyup). Had to show price from website to sales assistant. One GC7035 left which she picked up for $179 plus a $20 voucher for any Vue purchase. Last one in stock. There was still a demo on the floor though. Was offered the 2 year extended warranty for $25. Worthwhile calling around to see if there's any instore stock still available if you missed out online.

My order (for a GC7035) was cancelled. I'll be ropable if any of the GC7031 delivery orders are fulfilled.

Anyone with buyer's remorse, let me know…

    • ropeable.. auto incorrect strikes again
      .

    • my got cancel too

  • I received the GC7031 in post yesterday but only opened it up today. There's already condensation in the water tank. Do I return it? I'm scared that this thing was returned wet and the water that's been sitting in there for who knows how long will cause me issues. It says from Parramatta store.

  • My 7031 arrived Wednesday :)

and of course I've already posted off my cashback claim

  • 93.20 now after cash back gc7031 on Myer eBay using cmum20

    • Conditions of cash back say not valid if bought through eBay - be careful!!

    • From the T's & C's:

Purchases from third party internet sales sites, like eBay, are excluded

  • My order for GC7031 got cancelled today.

  • My 7031 order is delayed. Which means I won't be able to claim the cashback in time

    • Same here!

      • Mine got cancelled :( I still would've preferred to have it at this price even without the cashback. Cancelled as 'out of stock' however their website has it available & in stock?!?
