  • SPOILER ALERT:
Just opening up my LW 400 which I purchased yesterday for $30. Just to let you know that as I was reading through the safety instructions (as you don't!!) it says that, as I mentioned above, the LW 300 uses AAA batteries, while the LW 400 uses AA batteries. However it says, and I quote "you cannot use rechargeable batteries with your product".

Now I'm not sure why this would be the case, but I think it will be worth a try anyway don't you?

    • Interesting as salesman suggested doing so as they had no power adapters.

We bought a microchip activated pet feeder that said that. It is still going well 18 months later.

    • ahh.. must be why my LW300 wasn't working at all on NiMH rechargeables.

    • +2

I'm using 6 x AA Eneloops with my LW400. No problems yet, after about 10 labels.

  • I also investigated the optional external DC power supply. The OEM one is outrageously priced at about $50 I heard. The DC plug size is a little bit unusual. As far as I can see it is the 4.0×1.7 mm DC plug size. I just ordered some from eBay to test. Hopefully I have some six or 6.5 V DC power supplies hanging around but I can use to power it.

    • Just checking in, Did you manage to find an appropriate power adapter?

      • I bought a plug from eBay but the plug was the wrong size. I'll have to try again I think the centre pain is the next size up from 1.7 mm. I making my own adapter you just have to find any 6 V DC plug pack, cut the plug off if it doesn't fit and solder on one that does. I'm going to have to re-order from eBay so next update will be probably be in 4 to 6 weeks!

        Hope that helps.

  • I bought the LW300, didn't seem to work with 6 AAA rechargeable NiMH batteries I got. Alkaline only? or maybe my one's just faulty. anyone used this with rechargeables?

    • I used the 6 AAA Aldi Super Heavy Duty batteries on LW300 and it worked fine. Not sure how long these cheapie batteries will last though.

  • Bought the last LW400 from Coburg yesterday. There were a couple of LW300 units left in Coburg and in Fitzroy.
The instructions clearly state not to use rechargeables; not sure why, so I'll give them a go latter.

    • I bought one last LW400 from Preston Store.

I am using 6 x Amazon Basis (Eneloop Pro re-branded?) and it works fine.

I've printed more than 20 labels so far and the machine still has 2 bars of battery.

  • Plenty of both at Elizabeth SA

  • +1

Used eneloops in the LW400 today, did a few labels, no problems.

    • I also used NiMH rechargeables in my LW-400 without problems also!
