Hi, looking to spend not too much on a bed + mattress. Any good sales? Any good mattress startsup?

Thanks

  • Just went to Amart Furniture today - they've got 20% full priced furniture today, and they also have an EOFY sale. Purchased a Queen bed frame + mattress for $848 including delivery

I personally love the IKEA HÖVÅG mattress.

    • HOVAG is a pocket sprung mattress, wont disappoint you. But try HAMARVIK, slightly cheaper and almost the same comfort, however it is not a pocket sprung.

  • Where are you located?

    • Adelaide, but looking for delivery options

  • Kogan, besides beds and mattresses you can get 2 bedside tables and tall boy, sheets, pillows, quilts and the quilt covers too. Pretty much for the same price you pay for just only a bed and mattress at Freedom or Hervey Norman. Also every year ALDI has a bed and mattress special buy they are approx same price they sell them at Kogan.

  • Work colleague bought bed and mattress from here for $500?

Was for the spare bedroom though, so didn't get any fancy.

I bought this one a few months ago…a bargain at $299 delivered ($255 if you use CRACKER code tonight). It's reasonably soft without making you slump, quite thick, and I've slept better in it than I did for years with my previous one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141824322935

    • That looks interesting.

If you end up going to IKEA, make sure you sign up to IKEA Family first. A new discount voucher every month. This month is $50 off a $300+ spend.

No reason not to sign up someone else too, to check out with a voucher each for bed base and mattress.

    • Also keeps your transaction history/receipts!

  • We purchased 2 queen beds in a box a year ago, amazing price about $200, best sleep ever and our guests say the same.

    • out of curiosity, how big are queen mattresses in a box? can you fit them into the back of a medium sized car (eg. mazda 3)?

Not sure its only the width as the box is about 50/60cm square, so measure across a Q and you'll know.

      • Queen mattresses are usually about 152cm wide. Add about 3-5cm for packing. It's going to be close in a Mazda 3, may just not fit because of box height.

Ikea mattresses don't come in a box, just straps and plastic, so will have a better chance of fitting.

        • perfect. thank you

  • Look at buying direct from a small manufacturer. Most cities have them, because the bulk makes beds expensive to ship.

They are about half the price of the big name stores

  • Some ALDI supermarkets still have those mattress in a box deals from about two months ago. The Queen was about 269 Bux from memory.

They also had some bed frames for about 299 that weren't too shabby. My mother bought one of those frames. I bought the mattress for the guest room and my sister used it for a month. No complaints.

  • Decent second hand frame off gumtree and then buy a mattress you like. I don't mind the Aldi foam one if you ever see it on sale.

  • I asked something recently and got a load of really helpful replies: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/295526

Ozmattress seemed to be really popular but didn't go with them due to their return policy.

  • Myer when it is on Sale.
