NES classic was produced with a crazy conservative demand forecast. Nintendo is producing a lot more of this SNES classic.

having said that I was in japan 3 weeks ago and the Famicom version (asian NES) classic mini are still in stock at Trader stores and some Yadobashi

      • +2

        Thanks!

        • Keep in mind the Japanese market has absolutely nothing to do with the Aus market. Being able to buy a NES Mini there means nothing here. In the general case, Aus versions of games and consoles tend to be valued higher than any other region.

That said, the SNES Mini certainly looks to be produced in far greater quantities, in the short term it currently feels unlikely it will sell at anything crazy. In the long term once every one has opened their boxes, damaged them, lost them, thrown them out etc. It seems a safe bet to say it will be a good collectible, especially if Star Fox 2 doesn't release on anything else (that feels unlikely, you can sort of predict it'll hit the Virtual Console on the Switch).

      • @Wiede "Nintendo is producing a lot more of this SNES classic."

        proof? link?

    • +1

They sold better early on… i got got over $500 for one of mine…. and that was cheap in comparison

  • +3

First time I haven't even read the description and just ordered :)

That lineup is insane. And i'm not waiting for it to Out Of Stock and pay inflated prices on Fleabay this time…

Don't think about it - DO IT !!!

  • +1

I'm on board, especially after missing the NES Classic edition. The games list is awesome, and it'll be great to have Nintendo-quality SNES controllers again. Absolutely loved the Super NES!

  • +3

    "strictly 1 per customer"

Bet scalpers will still buy them all up

    • -4

Yep I have ordered 10 now and I am not breaking any rules :)

      • Wait, how? Just making different accounts?

        • No, level 5 EB World member lets me ignore order limits.

        • @kasp:

I think the website is ignoring order limits but what this whether this will result in order cancellation i'm not sure.

        • @abc:

One of the percs of level 5. Maybe if I was ordering 100 they might crack it. :P

        • @kasp:

          LOL! level 5

everyone knows it skips level 5 and jumps straight to level 10!!!

(just so you know guys - max level for eb world is level 4)

        • +1

          @YoursTruly:

          Ha yeah :D

Ordered 10 because Ebgames isn't the only one with preorders open. So basically I ordered 1 from multiple different places.
My gf also could go with one from multiple places as well :D

        • @kasp:

Any leads as to where I can locate an American and Japanese versions atm?

        • @YoursTruly:

Nope, I have just grabbed the Aussie version from Aussie retailers.

        • @kasp: Level 5, I thought level 4 was highest, which I am one. Interdasting.

        • +1

          @ONEMariachi:

You get level 5 when you preorder battletoads.

        • @kasp: are you being cheeky?

        • -1

          @ONEMariachi:

          Ha yeah.

I just preordered from all venues selling right now and my girlfriend did as well and my son :) So 9 in total :D

    • +2

This product was just announced a few hours ago

      • -1

Ofcourse. What I am referring to is a totally different item. just cheaper. Same games though.

    • +1

      thanks for the laugh

    • -2

I must add.. The list I have mentioned is not Nintendo but will have similar games and cheaper. I use it and I have no problem with it. I love it.

Ofcourse this is good price for a nintendo product. Not criticising.

    • Good bait

  • "We aren't providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition."
Don't Panic. This will be cheaper at Big W/Target etc.

    • +4

NES Classic didn't drop in price
and anyways EB offer a pre-order guarantee… they will match the price if it drops.

      • -3

Lol have you dealt with eb games before? Hahaha

        • +3

Multiple times…and i am yet to pay more than a competitors price

          I pre-ordered Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy.
Showed them the $39 Deal… they have reduced my pre order to that price.

You only have to ask… they are quite good.

        • @jimbobaus: Agreed with this, Eb have never turned down a price match for me.

      • Thanks for that, I will definitely keep that in mind!

  • Street fighter 2?

    • Included :)

      • I missed that! right above castlevania!

  • +1

So glad they went with the original design, the white and purple one is so bleh…

    http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/821565/SNES-Cl…

    • The white and purple is the overseas version of the SNES

      • Only in the US. PAL SNES is modeled after the Japanese version.

    • They're doing both for different regions. Very cool.

    • +1

White and purple is the US version. I have one of those.

  • +1

Ordered one just then. Figure out what to do with it later.

  • -3

    Just noticed…20+1….why didn't they just say 21? or 19+2 or 10+11 or 99-78. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • +6

20 classic games + one unreleased game (Star Fox 2) maybe?

    • +2

I would have said: square root of 441

    • It's a throwback to the old NES and SNES big boxes that they used to have. 20 classic games + 1 not classic game.

  • +1

Thank you so much OP! I was so worried i would miss out this time around but thanks to you I got one. Yiew!!!!!!

  • So does this have the original Mario game that the nes had or not ?

  • +13
  • +2

Super Mario all stars would have been nice but you can't have it all

    • Yeah I was surprised. We get two Kirby's and 1 core Mario?

    • Some of those were NES games remastered plus 1 new one for SNES. Would probably defeat the purpose of it being SNES based.

      • +1

Can't have it all? Even the cheapest bit computing kit these days could hold probably dozens more SNES games if they wanted to lol

I quite enjoyed playing All Stars on emulator. Appreciated the better controls/graphics over the original NES version. Didn't play it on the original SNES even though it came with that cart because I needed the save states LOL

        • You can get the SNES versions on the super mario all stars that came out for the WII as the anniversary edition

  • +1

The lesson is to pre-order now and cancel later!

  • +2

Woohoo! Thanks OP! I had been checking their site for this all morning.

  • +1

No Turtles in Time but still very much worth it.

    • +5

      Nor Chrono Trigger :/

      • or Illusion of time or Final Fight

Would gladly pay to download additional games

  • +1

Pre-ordered, thanks for the heads up OP.

  • +1

Has anyone like JV chimed in with… and if they haven't I will…

    This is OZbargain, not OZRRP.

  • +4

Pre-ordered. I still own a SNES with a bunch of these games, but it's worth it for the few I don't own alone. My wife is probably gonna kill me with the amount of pre-orders I have lined up at the moment. Nintendo is sucking my wallet dry right now…

Really interested to find out if this thing will be moddable though, would love to add a few extra games.

  • +3

I'm surprised Nintendo actually released it with Super Mario RPG, Earthbound and Final Fantasy III. Those titles never got a local Australian release and those titles alone is enough reason to pick one up.

    • +2

Super Mario RPG is the driving force for me right now :)

      • +1

100% this, I've finished that game 3 times, but to properly own it on a cute little snes is so cool. So happy with game choices here. The only other games I would have added, would be FFV, Chrono Trigger, Illusion of time, Terranigma, Fire Emlbem, Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean. But I guess they can only put so many RPGs on there haha.

        • I was hoping for Chrono Trigger and Illusion of Time too, but I'll take what I can get!

  • Reckon we would be able to use the original SNES cartridges?

    • No. This is a 'mini' version, the console itself will probably only be a tiny bit bigger than the original cartridges.

    • Negative. Unless they have tiny snes cartridges to go with it :-P

      • +7

What are these? Cartridge for ants!?

  • +1

Got my preorder in. Missed out on the NES, so got in early this time around.

  • +3

    thanks op, ordered one.
Not sure why BTW but I did. LOL.

  • Not sure if this is a deal. Perhaps wait later down the line.

    • +2

To make sure you don't get one?

  • +2

Reading the comments again, a few say to preorder because they're popular, not because of what it is. Like with the NES Mini, just because people are going bonkers over it doesn't really change what it is. Just like the NES Mini, people should really think what for? Are you buying it for the games? Or just the brand name? (plenty of comments from prev threads the dated games don't last more than that initial gimmick nostalgia appeal)

But gotta hand it to them; they know how to make money!

    • +5

I didn't want the NES until it sold out… then when it came back in stock I didn't feel it was worth it but BOY WAS I ANGRY when it sold out again and I missed out!

      • +2

LOL, I feel these emotions and more, I don't want it, but the demand makes me want it. Damn the psychology of it all!!

      • +1

You shouldnt feel bad, dont worry these are just video games. If you have a 3ds, Wii, Wii U and eventually Switch you can just buy a few of the games you want.

If you have a retro television you can pick up an original SNES if you really want. That would play other games outside the 22.

    • +2

At the cost of a expensive PS4/XB1 game I don't think we need to think too hard about it. YOLO :-P

      • It's not really YOLO given it'd be the 2nd/3rd time playing SNES games hehe

    • +4

It's pretty amazing. Nintendo puts a replica of a 25yr old console in a $20 box and sells it for $120 = sells out instantly. Whereas Microsoft is selling their $250 Xbox One S for $260 and can't make a damn sale.

      They're definitely on to something.

      • I'd like to know if people were more or less likely to buy it if it were the original sized SNES, matching it identically (except say the ports/cables at the back). Sure would be bulky but I'd better understand the nostalgia over that than these re-makes.

Hope my relo's kept their SNES! And everyone else with their Wii's, Xboxes or 64's better keep them too. Who would've thought people would pay top dollar for ancient technology. Brings Famicom back in from the outside shed

    • A bunch of these games hold up quite well, but yes i see the point. And in some cases yes i would say some are overrated (ill get negged for that but it doesnt mean they're bad). E.g. Secret of Mana, Supermario RPG, Yoshis Island, Final Fantasy III, . SNES has alot of nostalgia attached to it, though some associate some Sega/ Arcade games they played with it. Perhaps this is case were we should question whether jumping on the brand is necessary. After all it doesn't play additional cartridge games.

Apparently they're going to have much more of these then the NES mini. Apparently that is. Perhaps it is a better case to just wait this one out.

      • is the final fantasy 3 the equivalent of final fantasy 6 Japan?

        • Yeah it is, incredible game! Mario RPG is also one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

EarthBound, Final Fantasy III, A Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid. There is at least 150+ hours of awesome game play here at a minimum, and I mentioned only a quarter of the games.

        • @ONEMariachi:

          why you get negged?

my favourites are Final Fantasy III (FF6 in JPN), Secret of Mana, Super Metroid, Star fox

        • @edgar28: Not sure why. Al good though, super stoked with this line up of games!

  • +4

    Great news for scalpers

    • -4

      Totally! Good Christmas bonus-cash.

  • +1

    Preordered :)

  • +2

Come September people are going to be crying they missed out on this when everyone is flogging it for twice or more the RRP.

Buy it now or don't complain later.

    • +2

Pretty much how i felt about the NES Classic… everyone was crying they couldn't get one, yet they were on pre-order for ages.

  • +4

Got the nes. Played it once and then sold haha.

Bought this too but I'm waiting for that N64 mini

    • -1

      Aka 3ds or switch

      • It's not the same. You can emulate any game on the PC, but the experience is completely different.

Still have my original N64 that I got as a 5 year old, 20 years ago, but the controllers are a bit stuffed. Would love a mini N64

        • And I'm saying don't hold your breath waiting for one as long as they can sell n64 games on these devices

        • @tomkun01: They can sell all the snes and nes games on those too, and the nes sold perfectly fine. You're confusing people paying $400 for a switch plus games, or $250 for a 3ds plus games, for a $100-$120 cost device. There is a market here for it.
