The PAL SNES and Super Famicom have the same design/colour scheme. The American SNES has the purple buttons and the console is boxier.

      • +3

        God bless Australia
The USA design is not my taste.

      • Wish they included a port of fire emblem like the one included in the JPN Super Famicom mini. that's the original FE and its sequel in one game. I am guessing the original game never received a western release (English port).

      • Haha thanks for the pic, really nice👍

        • Thanks but I stole it from somewhere else! 👍

  • +1

I am more inclined to buy this over the NES classic given the great memories I had playing it but I'm disappointed with the number of games included. We went from 30 to 21! I'm expecting the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo 64 to be released next year…..with 10 games.

  • went with Jb instead cost of delivery vs going to actually pick up negligible plus they offer the lowest price at time of sale just incase Target Big W start the gold rush gain.

  • +1

Will this be a sellout like the other NES Classic? From what I've read it sounds like there's going to be a lot more stock. Still pre-ordered anyway

  • +3

They didn't give us Killer Instinct!

    • Microsoft owns the rights to Killer Instinct.

  • looks like the whole lot are coming though they had them on display at E3 every single one you can think of.

  • Too pricey for me. They should really be charging half that but it's Nintendo and they know it'll sell.

  • +2

I still have my super nitendo that I bought 23 years ago.

  • +1

    Thanks ordered!

  • Does anyone know if these will only run in the original PAL50/50Hz format? Never used to bother me as a kid, but would prefer 60Hz versions if going back to them now. I would even import from the US if it made a difference.

  • +2

    starfox 2 !
    starfox 2 !
    starfox 2 !

also mad props for posting this, I had NFI pre order was going up today, would of missed the boat, fleet, entire (profanity) war.

  • controllers cord length is about 1.5 meters, just FYI

  • DKC2 + Killer Instinct would have made this SO much better.

    • +2

Microsoft owns the rights to Killer Instinct.

      • +1

        C..C..C..C..COMBO BREAKER!!!

    • And Battletoads.

  • How big are the controllers compared to the original ones? I had trouble using the NES mini controllers with my big hands….

    • +1

They'll be the same size as the original controllers.

  • +2

Preordered mine this morning just as it went live. If this gets hacked be sure to add Chrono Trigger, DKC2 and Seiken densetsu 3 (Secret of mana 2). Those games are must haves.

  • Friends, are there 2 versions being sold?

    Theres this one OP posted then this one Super Nintendo Classic Edition;
    https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2017/06/super-nintendo-classic-ed…

    ??

    • +2

The console with the purple/grey buttons is the American version (to be sold in America).

      • Ah, true true

  • +1

    Ordered! pretty excited

  • Man, I hope you can mod this like the NES Classic.

  • +1

I've got a fully loaded retropie which i never use, yet inclined to buy this, omg!

    • +1

      Success! Your order is complete.

I have mix feeling about this impulsive purchase ;/

  • Will this make NES mini go up or down? I'm still looking to get a regular NES for a relative

    • +1

      Only up from here on

      • Really? But SNES if moddable could be more popular and see demand switch to that instead.

Seems fixed for about $200 on Gumtree now =/ but it's been dropping by abt $10 per month

  • I want this but also was never was able to get hold of the NES mini which I still want…

Would it now make more sense to buy one of the China consoles with 500 games? Eg https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mini-TV-Handheld-Game-Consol…

    • +1

      Wow those Chinese are good…

    • I wonder if it's really 500 games. e.g. Game #376 and #477 look the same to me.

And it still doesn't have some of my favourites such as Snake Rattle n Roll, Bionic Commando, etc.

    • They look like bootleg games. Don't waste your money.

  • they will intentionally under stock them again to create a buzz for nintendo. more people talking about how impossible these are to buy the more people talk about nintendo. Then brand awareness for consoles like Nintendo switch will increase leading to more sales. These mini consoles are one genius marketing strategy to sell other consoles and we are all just one big mouth piece for nintendo

    • I still haven't got a NES yet and SNES scalping has begun

    • +1

Because if there's one company that really needs publicity, it's Nintendo.

    • +1

True, but Malibu Stacy has a new hat!!!

  • +1

Hope this helps for anyone on the fence.

  • Was at jb inline to preorder, the sales are recommending to also preorder the AC adaptor to everyone, does the unit not come with any power supply????

    • +2

No it doesn't, but you can plug the USB from SNES to TV USB port provided it can power SNES up.

Otherwise, just use any USB adapter.

    • If this is like the Mini NES, then it only requires a Micro USB Cable/Adapter to power the device; which most people already has.

  • +1

Just pre-ordered one. Apparently the pre-orders are breaking records at our local EBG.

    • It sure is for ozbargain website! RRP pricing but over 300+ votes!

      • It's a good deal. The value of the item matters more than the amount.

  • -8

Crap game list, I had a SN but only had 1 of those games

    • +6

The list is crap because you only owned 1 of the best SNES games?

      • -1

Nah just crap because you can get most already on Virtual Console so you might as well buy a 2nd hand Wii U For $150 and get way way way way more old games to choose from and heaps of new good ones too. MAYBE if it was $70 but $120 Rip Off!

    • Great game list from the golden age of RPGs. Your taste must be bad.

      • I'm only sad they didn't cram Chrono Trigger in and a couple more titles in given how small the game sizes are, but then again they already have Earthbound, Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy III/VI so I am more than happy.

Someone will likely work out a way we can hack some more games in like the MINI NES though… :P

        • My thoughts exactly. The secret of mana 2 with fan translation would be up there too.

    • -1

Only 2 down votes in 13 minutes? Poor effort OzB :/

      • Yeah they have lost their touch lately lol

  • Does anyone know how long the usb cables for the controllers will be? what length were they for the NES classic? I have my xbox one up above the TV on the wall so this won't be easy if the cables are short…

    • +1

1.5m I read. About 60cm longer than the NES Classic.

      • Still too short though, how do you sit 1.5m from your tv these days? I guess I'm no longer 8 with my original SNES…

        • +5

Well it's an added cost, but it looks like these will be using the standard Wii connectors again, and there are extension cables out there.. but to be honest, I never found the shortness too much of an issue as you have to be close to the NES Classic to reset and change games. I found it more convenient to get a longer HDMI cable and have the console on the couch next to me haha.

        • @narcoleptic-haze: Excellent call

        • @narcoleptic-haze:

I did the same - I have a 5m HDMI cable that I used to use to connect the laptop to the TV. Then would power the NES with a portable bluetooth speaker of all things.

  • +1

I preordered :) Looking forward to it.

Where can we buy the power supply from?

And are the controllers the same as the original SNES?

  • Is only delivery available now?

    • yeah can't do pickup from store

damn couldn't buy earlier at work =\

      • Damn.

        • still the cheapest delivery i guess comapred to JB/gamesman.

whats the likelihood big W and target will have stock in store? Pretty high I would think….could save $5

    • I presume that only applies to people who didn't preorder in time right?

  • -7

This is not a bargain, this is an RRP preorder.

  • +3

Nintendo's done good this time around at least in Australia. Preorder's still up all around the place all day. Eb games website hasn't crashed yet as well lol. But yeah get in guys before you miss it. I only managed to snag the Mini NES in the final batch last time and even then that was with great difficulty.

Also don't forget to get the Mini Nintendo AC Adapter if you need it as it doesn't come with it.

    https://www.ebgames.com.au/loot-217651-Nintendo-USB-AC-Adapt…

  • +1

Done, placed order, I think EB will have to take it down by tomorrow with the number of orders they would have received today.

So many people I have spoken to have jumped on as well.

Games list alone is worth it.

  • +1

Omg snes was my first console….gonna get it for my kids to play it.

    Luv this mini version.

N64 mini, cube mini, ….nintendo wii mini is already out.

    Sony….psx mini? Ps2 mini?

  • +2

After a few hours you'll be sick of the games and the console will end up being clutter. Save your money ozbargain people. I bet anyone who bought the NES mini used again a month after they bought it. It also should have come with Pilotwings.

    • +1

I'd agree for the NES mini, thats why I didnt get one even though as a collector's item it would have been nice. The game design was still very immature and trying to play all of those games would be an exercise in frustration.

By the SNES era however design had matured and all of the games in the list, at least that i've played, still hold up very well to this day. Also helps that 16bit graphics are basically timeless IMO, it still all looks great to me.

      • I agree with this 100%

  • Without the scope and battleclash, this means nothing to me.

The scope (being a lightgun) only works on CRT TV's so it would actually be something useful if you could buy a version that worked with modern equipment

  • +6

ordered, thanks op! to all the people sooking that its rrp: get a life!

i for one am appreciate that items like this are posted on ozbargain, as otherwise i would be clueless to its existence

hint: some of us, as we get older, have to spend more time at work and with family, than on gaming sites, therefore we are not as up-to-date with all the new tech thats coming out, as say a uni student would be.

    • -2

      get a life!

… by buying a 25 year old game console, rriiiiggghhhttt

otherwise i would be clueless to its existence

So it is OzRRP-Advertising after all!

  • Does anyone know if it would be possible to somehow play 4 player with this?

    • No.

The original SNES only had support for 2 players maximum and it'll be the same for this one.

      • +1

You obviously never heard of the Super Multitap then. Was an accessory used for four player games like Super Bomberman. http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Multitap

However don't think any of the bundled games had four player support.

        • I believe out of these games only SoM had more than 2 player support. I remember being amazed that a game even existed with more than 2 player support, only problem was trying to get everyone to agree to go in the same direction. Still better than the CPU players who always seem to get stuck somewhere.

      • Ah ok thanks

  • +2

Didn't read post. Clficked through, Ordered. Returned to OP to say THANKS!

    • That's the way, who needs upvotes!

  • Do you think all preorders will actually be in stock or should we expect refunds?

  • +2

Soooo why's this 'deal' not being shit all over like the Gamesmen one?..

    • Cheapest shipping.

  • +1

Haven't done a pre-order at EB for years but today I caved.

  • +1

Are the games going to be the PAL version or NTSC? PAL versions are about 20% slower.

    • Guessing they'll be NTSC like the NES mini.

  • On a slightly unrelated note EB games also emailed me news of a Sega Megadrive HD mini console as well. Might be worth checking out too for folks looking for some more nostalgia. It has 85 games built in, can play original carts and has wireless controllers. Time will tell if its any good. A little more pricey than the snes mini though…
