how often do they need repairing?

    • +2

Mine's seven years old, never had any problems (apart from user errors, which have been fixed by rtbm).
Not sure if we've been lucky, but none of my friends with Denon's have ever mentioned needing repairs either.

    • +4

My Denon receiver is going on 18yrs & it's just as good as the day I bought it.

Little outdated, bit still works, lol.

I would have no hesitation in buying Denon again.

    • how long is a piece of string ?

      • +6

        Twice half its length.

    • Mine (recent model) was repaired in the first 3 months under warrantee

    • I had 2 brand new x1100 units dead on arrival. The second one was a swapover warranty replacement for the first. The replacement I got then died 12 months later. And now 6 months later its died again. Thankfully I bought locally (at a good price). Honestly I don't think denon quality is what it used to be. Great sound quality of course, but cheap manufacturing. Personally I wouldn't buy another denon after all this trouble.

Just some feedback, we received to X2400H from Amazon DE and it has been working well up until last Thursday when we performed a Firmware Update.

After the update the options for the Network and HEOS were "Greyed Out" (not available anymore).

Checking the net for solutions to this problem and performing the so called factory reset failed to resolve the problem.

Denon Australia did not want to know us because the unit was purchased outside of Australia, this I can understand but was disappointed as I have never had issues with Denon support with other products we have had before.

I contacted Amazon DE last night and they are sending a replacement unit straight away and also they have offered to pay the return freight of the faulty unit back to Germany.

I am no way affiliated with Denon or Amazon but wanted to share my experience as I was a bit sceptical about warranty and support if I ever needed it. I am very happy with Amazon's support for warranty issues :)

  • My 2300X I got from Amazon Germany last year has always worked like a champ. :)

    • Same here.

  • I bought my Denon X2000 a few years ago runs like dream no issues what so ever. Well worth the saving. Power plug is easy just uses Female 3 Pin IEC-C13 Power Cable. I bought mine from the UK for less $500 including shipping

  • Just bought the 2400H through the link and only paid 505.39 EUR 😀 thanks OP Sorry, 589 EUR including shipping

    • Who paid for the shipping?
      Or…
How did you get free shipping?

Update: I see I see… Read your message again and understood it. :)

  • I had a good experience getting the 2300 last year from Germany.

Out of interest, what's the difference between the 2300 and this 2400?

  • I love Dolby Atmos.

  • +5

Upvoting for the comparison in description.

  • Everything I have read is its 95wpc… [email protected] 4ohm maybe?

  • Is there a chance that older amps have 4k HDMI passthrough?

    • Mine does and it's about 3 years old. It's an x2000.

  • $200 more worth it for:

    3.33% more power per channel;

    2 HDMI outputs (for some, essential, not for me though);

4K upscaling (when most 4K panels will do the same thing)?

    • Not worth it - power difference is nothing, upscaling is a core feature of any 4k TV.

  • Good amp but 9 channel recommended forAtmos though.

    • You have that many speakers?

      • Sounds ridiculous but recommended setup is 5.1.4 for atmos wth 4 ceiling or upward firing. Meaning 9 channel

    • +2

Na 24 channel is better. 9 channel is so yesterday.

  • Anyone able to answer why I would go the 1400 over last years 1300 @ 367,48 Euro… Can't seem to find any noticeable difference in features?

    • Heos support if you are into these things…

  • By way of comparison, I bought this little ripper!

    http://www.deniswhite.com.au/oknyo-tx8270-stereo-amp-with-in...

Wi-Fi, DAB, HDMI, what's not to love about it!

    • +1

      The price? ;-)

      • Got to agree, better off sticking with a decent amp/pre amp combo and buying a network audio player

    • +2

      "Oknyo" $1200 (+delivery) vs X1400 $676 (delivered) =D

      • Heh, they couldn't even spell Onkyo properly o.0

    • $1,199 from Selby too.

    • +2

Onkyo… Hdmi failure issues in the past. Kept producing amps despite knowing the hdmi boards would die.. They continued that crap for at least five years. I'm a frustrated onkyo owner.

Not sure if still true on newer models, i certainly hope not, but I'll never trust them again

      • Agree, Onkyo TX509 from 2011, first failure was no sound, replaced whole unit under warranty. Then this year, again no sound, replaced HDMI board, it was replaced free of charge under Onkyo (special extended warranty to 31/12/2018) for models manufactured between 2009 and 2012

Onkyo may have improved but not enough for me to buy another.

    • I have been looking at the tx8270. Do you know whether you can stream FLAC audio from a Plex or DLNA server to it ?

  • Still no DAB in AVR-X2400H…

    • +3

I used to think that. Then i researched dab. You're missing nothing until they quadruple the bitrate

  • Guys, (AVR-X2400H Came to be AUD906. I have never owned a HT system before so can someone please tell me what kind of speakers will I need for this?

    • Harryxx. Where are you at? I have a set of KRIX Phoenix Gold I am thinking of selling.

      • Melbourne- eastern suburbs

    • Depends a lot on what you are after and your room setup and your budget.

To get the best out of the receiver, I would suggest a 5.1 sound speaker setup (2x front, 1x center, 2x rear and subwoofer).

If you want value for money speakers then the pioneer andrew jones (not the rugby player) speakers give great sound. You can get a Q acoustic 5.1 set (fantastic sound) for about $1100. They are a step up from the pioneers. Look on whathifi website for good speaker reviews.

      • +1 for the Q Acoustic 5.1 (7000i series)

I bought mine brand new in matt white for $890 with the 15% ebay sale. Only temporarily setup 3.1 but produces great sound.

      • Warning the previous q acoustics subwoofer had serious issues with instant death. No idea if they fixed that in the current model.

I'm not biased, i have a pair of q acoustics bookshelf units myself.

  • What's the diff between the 2400 to the upcoming 3400 ?

    • +4

      About a 1000

      • Extra connectivity, HDMI's in & out. Increased power output.
        RCA preouts for external amplification

    • The 3400 also does video conversion. eg. component input to HDMI output

  • Oh no too late … looks like they don't ship to Australia anymore :-(

    • +1

Still works for me if I select Amazon from the list of sellers…

      • You are right. Thanks. I selected "from Amazon" before and went just in the cart to check shipping costs.
It told me there it can't be sent to Australia … but it works through the check out. Yeah!

Now to figure out if I need the old version (1300) the new version (1400) ore even go all out with the 2400 … tough one. The savings are pretty substantial for just a bit less functionality.

Unless you need HEOS, the 2016 models are much better buying because they're otherwise almost identical but much cheaper. The X1300W can be had for a smidgen for than $500 landed, a useful ~$150 saving over the 2017 X1400H model.

    • A very big thankyou, just ordered.

    • I got the X1300W model this year and being new into Home Theatre I am quite happy with the purchase, paid around $550 delivered. You won't be disappointed.

      • I know this is an old thread but what's the shipping cost like?

    • A big thank you from me too :)

    • Danke vielmals!

  • Guys, how come amazon shows me 461EUR = AUD 702? In the deal it says it should be $676

    • Amazon currency converter is a bit pessimistic.
