Ruger American Rimfire $449 - Ruger American Predator Centerfire $615 @ Cleaver Firearms (QLD)

860

Cleaver Firearms are clearing out some of the last gen American rifles at pretty good prices in a variety of calibers. Basic, but a solid, accurate bolt action rifle. Does not include optics.

The gunsite scout in .223 is also $995 which is over $800 off.

Obviously licenses required, check out your state's regulations before purchasing. Despite some opinions held by people on the other thread, these are less controversial sporting firearms and at bargain prices.

What? Get a scope straight away. Especially since most places will give you a super cheap package of a scope and a bag when you buy a 22.

Shooting with irons teaches you to slow things down, line things up and develop technique. It's like learning on a manual car.

      • +1

Is the scope easily removed? Or does it take ages to recalibrate when you reattach it?

        • Depends on the rings in my experience. My cheaper rings require a bit of re-sighting when my expensive rings require very little if any at all. Sighting in a gun is a skill all shooters should master.

        • +1

Also depends how much loctite the gunsmith uses too lol

I dont know why so many people are up voting this deal. Ruger rifles are not that great. The bolt action on this thing has a reputation for jamming (one thing it is meant to avoid!). Moreover, my mate got injured by the empty shell discharging inappropriately due to a mechanism failure. Last thing you want is something exploding in your hand. Please also note the RRP is a load of rubbish - just marketing to make you feel like you are getting a discount.

You're fighting an uphill battle trying to get these deals negged down. Your excuses are a joke. You have been on every post relating to firearms and made wild comments just so your neg won't get revoked. Nice try, but no cigar.

Exploding ammo, jamming rifles, inappropriately ejecting cartridges, poor build quality, poor RRP. Mate, you are either full of it or you are the unluckiest gun owner on the planet and with your track record, I would give away firearms before you blow yourself to pieces…

So, please, enlighten us, what would be a better rifle to purchase at this price point if this one is no good? What shotgun ammo would I be best to use for pest control and I'll need a better shotgun for $665 if that one is no good…

    • This is actually a pretty nice gun. The action on it is really smooth and the magazine is something special as well.

The stock is also somewhat adjustable, and most places will give you a Nikko scope and bag for another $80 or so.

    • Care to explain exactly how your friend got injured empty shell discharging inappropriately due to a mechanism failure?

      • I knew a guy who was injured by an empty casing. It flicked up and hit him in the forehead, leaving a crescent shaped mark.

I somehow doubt this is what Hoobi meant though

        • yeah I know it can be common to catch brass to face if holding a rifle left handed but Hoobi is talking mechanism failure causing it? and then goes onto to talking about something exploding in his hand? what the? In the shotgun shell deal he neged he talks about shotgun shells almost exploding in the packet which is just idiotic.

        • @Hayesy22:

Yeah makes no sense, otherwise I would have lost my fingers years ago. Using range reloads feels like you are rolling the dice at times

    • I agree that Ruger Americans aren't that great, I have one in 223 and haven't been terribly impressed however it is a budget rifle, what can you expect.

Id love to know more about how your friend got injured buy a 22 shell?

FYI Mossberg jams far more often than my Ruger.

    • What brand would you buy then?

      • I wished I could have read that reply haha

If you don't like it, move on, OzBargain isn't just about eneloops and SD cards.

Did you get your wife's boyfriend's permission to post that?

      • -1

        He asked his mum.

      Take your anti-gun views elsewhere.
Remember that guns don't do harm, PEOPLE do harm.

      • +1

Guns make it much easier though, don't they? (FWIW I'm not anti-guns. I just find your argument specious at best.)

    • This is not what I want to see on the front page.

In all honesty most of the bargains on the front page are irrelevant to me but its also not www.darwinboysozbargain.com.au so i just ignore the bulk and get on with life.

You can actually hide similar deals.

I don't think your comment is on topic personally.

can't post a double barrelled 50 caliber dildo bargain but can post firearm deals…

    • +1

Hope you got a good deal on the 50 cal Mr Jobler

What is with all this Trolling! Gun deals are not new to OB, I got my 1st firearm from an OzBargain post. I understand if you dont like firearms thats fine but please dont yell "Stop liking what I dont like" on the post. Someone has taken the time to post something that will be of high interest to a certain percentage of OzBargainers. I dont like deals on $500 pair of pants at 20% off but understand that it may be just what someone else has been chasing for months.

    • Well said!

  • +2

    Thanks OP
Could we have more deals like this?
There are lots of people now looking for this stuff, reports say.

  • I want to hunt elephants, how close do I need to get with this… https://scottross79.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/8b2d3-61-rab…

now if only we had freedoms

Thanks OP. Got one to go with my 'Make America Great Again' flag.

  • How much damage would this do to a vehicle? Burst a tyre?

    • A .22? Pop a tyre. Make a hole in the car skin. Make a hole in the window. Not going to do much in the way of disabling a car though. May not even make it all the way through the car door either. They are itty bitty rounds.

      • +1

Oh now you've done it! You mentioned cars on OzBargain! The number of people killed and injured by them is off the scale. They should be banned. Any idiot seems to be able to get a licence for one and ownership is rampant, and they are now used for terrorist attacks too. Bloody dangerous.

  • I thought the Tikka T3 CTR in stainless (7MM/08 and 243) was a great buy at $1220 on run-out - down from $1829 for the T3X version which replaces it. I think the 7MM/08 is the pick given the barrel is only 20 inches. See here (right down the bottom of the page): https://www.cleaverfirearms.com/Products.aspx?Category=Rifle…
