$14 cheaper than scrimshaws deal last week. a great post so I copied and pasted the description.

This is a small form factor PC, competitor to an Intel NUC or a Lenovo M series Tiny. Comes with OS preinstalled, but also apparently supports Ubuntu or Chrome OS.

The outstanding features are it's newer Apollo Lake chipset, and HDMI 2.0 port which outputs 4k at 60hz, plus you also a spare 2.5" bay for you to stick in a bigger drive if required.

Also quite a few options in the BIOS

It's definitely a lot cheaper than an Intel NUC6CAYH as it already includes storage, RAM and operating system.

Apollo Lake J3455 (1.5-2.3Ghz), Intel® HD Graphics 500
4G RAM LPDDR3 (1600MHz)
64GB Msata SSD
SATA 3 internal port to support a 2.5" drive
Windows 10 Home
Gigabit Ethernet
Dual Band WiFi with AC support (2 antennas)
Wake-On-Lan support (Soft Off state (S5))
HDMI 2.0
VGA
Bluetooth 4.2
2 x USB 3.0
2 x USB 2.0
MicroSD card slot
MIC/Audio jack port
12v/3a AC

FAQ:

This looks good. It all comes down to that Apollo Lake J3455 CPU really, which I'm not familiar with but assume it's like a next-gen celeron chip? Great price if the CPU isn't too slow.

I would buy this if cheaper without Win 10 Home

    • I think MS don't charge OEMs for Win 10 Home if the device meets certain criteria. I read that some time back, so don't quote me on that. If I got this, I'd slap some *buntu on there and use it as a Steam streaming machine.

      • I think that started back in the days of Windows 8 'Bing'. (That was an OS designation which is now Windows 10 Home, i think)

I have the original v1 and quite happy with it as a HTPC running kodi.

It's no speed demon, but as a web browsing / media playing desktop it would do the job for not too much $$$$

    • I use mine to upgrade on a TV as a smart upgrade and browser. I am happy with it.

  • How did you get $215? I used Citibank and paid in US$ and it was $216.16.

    • google exchange. rates vary. $216ish is probably right as well

  • really tempted.

I would use this as a replacement to my current android box that has kodi , twitch & other streaming apps.

Anyone use this for the above? I'd rather have it more like a media streamer than a pc (using the metro interface instead of desktop)

  • What's the deal with shipping at Geekbuying? There were 4 options I think all free but the first one was much slower. I had no idea what to pick or if it makes any difference.

    • Pick the one nearest your mouse pointer :P

  • So im wanting to use this as a home server that will run torrents and occasionally serve files to other devices.
Is this a good choice for that? I'm assuming the 4gb of ram will be enough?
    Thanks

Torrents, I am Assuming your referring to your cloud storage backup service that your offing free to the movie industry, you should be fine, Hardware from 10 years ago could do what you’re asking for, maybe better in upfront cost to buy a 2nd hand office PC, get a i3 or i5 DELL or Lenovo and run a plex server from it to test the backups every now and again 😊

  • Did anyone get one? I was just chatting to Geekbuying asking why mine hasn't shipped and was told it won't ship till mid August. That is a month after I paid for it.

    • That's disappointing. I ordered on 21st July and was told via email on Friday (28th July) that it will be shipped "this week".

      • Geekbuying is now showing 403 preorders and shipping in 3 days 15 hours.

        • Still no sign of shipping notice. Almost a month since ordering now. Has anyone had theirs shipped or notification of shipping date?

        • @tivo:

The shipping countdown clock has been and gone.

        • @tivo:

Hooray- mine has been shipped- one full month after payment. What about yours?

        • @shaybisc:

Yep, just got shipped as well. :)
