If I Never Activate My Mobile Is It Free?

I recently purchased a new phone on a contract for my wife. She had the phone and put her existing Sim in it. Plan was i was to have the plan sim in my phone. Due to health reasons and holiday 3 months has gone by and I still havent got the sim out of the packet. As yet we havent paid any monthly plan charges

  • Surprised they haven't done anything yet. Usually, if you haven't activated it after about 3 days of receiving the SIM, it does it automatically.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear the sound, did it really make a sound?

Depends on how you define sound. If it is defined in a non-scientific manner, and to the effect of "is it audible", then no… but the phrasing would be incorrect.

If it is defined scientifically, ie. vibration and displacement of air, then yes, that tree did make a sound.

      Fun police.

      • The question is more philosophical … think what confucius would say.

        • Don't know how to key in Chinese characters.

He said once. "Man who goes to bed with itchy bum wakes up with smelly finger"

How about the women who goes to bed with an itchy …

They'll eventually chase after you, possibly via a debt collection agency.

Haven't paid because you haven't been billed?

  • if you have not activated the sim then you are in breach of the contract terms
almost all of them state you must contact them to activate within a set period of time.

The teleco can send you an invoice for the full amount owed if you fail to activate
if i was you i would activate asap

The IMEI number of the phone will be logged at time of first activation of the handset, depending on which phone it is. If I were you, I'd activate the SIM now and hope you only pay from now, rather than push my luck and have them charge for usage since handset activation.

Having said that, how do you know you're not paying any charges yet? If it's a new service at a new company, then they could be charging you and you don't know due to something like a mis-typed email address in their system. Or if you upgraded with your existing provider, it may have just ticked over without you knowing. Have you checked your telco account to be sure? Credit history is not something you want to jeopardise.

  • Hi guys, guess you are saying I shouldnt push my luck, just thought it was odd, no contact from them at all via Post or email and I know they have my correct email as they sent me emails to say thank you for your order, you phone will be delivered tomorrow etc…
