Would lightroom run ok on this?
Lightroom will be good to run, but the screen will ruin your eyes for photo editing.
I used a Macbook Air 2011 tethered with Lightroom for photoshoots. Its runs fine but jva is correct the screen is way too small for serous work

The problem with this deal is the display is atrocious when comparing with the Pro with Retina display… $999 for a 128gb Air with NO FHD display is not really a bargain IMO.
Have you used one? At 13" sure its not as nice as retina but a 13-14 hour battery trumps that any day of the week for my use. Even the smaller macbook only has 10 hours and the pro's, at twice the price, have less than 10 hours.
I compared 13" Air with 13" Retina Pro side by side in Officeworks, the difference of the displays are just HUUUUGE.
The one linked below is a much better choice, even it's 2016 model, but with 256gb storage and super amazing display will offer a lot more performance. The price difference is quite fair.

The Dell xps 13 and hp spectra 13 are super laptops…id check them both out as a comparison. I have a spectra and love it. I absolutely hate Mac's ecosystem and dumb file system so I'm bias against these so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I own both a 2015 Macbook Air and a Xiaomi Air 12. As far as i know this macbook is only a slight bump up in specs since 2015. This is a great price for the macbook, it is a really solid kit. However the competition has caught up, personally if i had to buy this $999 macbook air, or another laptop, id buy a Xiaomi Air 13.3 for the same price but has better specs, much better display, and in my opinion, a more superior build quality and finish than the macbook air (which even I didn't think was possible).
So yeah if you want windows, go a Xiaomi air. both options are very good for this price though.

Has anyone else received their order? I've ordered two and picked them up today but the first thing I noticed is that the trackpad on both of them seems loose and making an annoying sound on taping (not even pressing it down). I've compared them to my mid 2013 Air and my niece's early 2015 Air and none of them make the same sound and the trackpad feels firm in place.
Just popped mine open and found the exact same thing. Really not sure about it… Any updates on your end?
@goodperson: I went to Myer and checked the Air on display and it didn't have this problem. I'm going to Apple Store tomorrow to check their display models and hopefully speak to someone who can clarify this issue. I haven't used the laptops yet waiting to see what happens at Apple Store.
@jopiter69: I've got an identical work one and it never had the issue, if we're both experiencing this then surely others are too… Would really appreciate an update if you get the chance :)
