HEYREVEL

I was informed that the above code works for five free coffees.

It works on existing accounts and I have tested it on two coffees in Sydney CBD.

Uncertain of expiry date and start date.

Please let me know of any adjustments.

  • Enjoying my tobys estate at tower 3 barangaroo!

  • Works for me this morning at ny favourite coffee shop. Thanks OP.

  • +1

Tried to max it out with a jumbo, extra shot latte ($5.40). No issues. (could have gone 50c extra with soy - bleh)

  • Guess who's the fave at work today? ;)
Thanks for the code! Much appreciated.

    • -4

Sharing your freebie???? Surely thats against the Ozb guudelines..

  • +1

    No longer working.

  • Confirmed it worked for me.

I set up a new account too without payment method.

  • No longer working with existing accounts

  • +1

Looks like it's over, for everyone who got in, enjoy your free coffee :)

  • My code is still working, although for new members it wouldn't

  • "Oh no! Your code is invalid"

  • I couldn't get the code to work, though my work colleagues did work.
The only odd thing out is I'm Android and they're IOS.
I got them to "buy" me a coffee.
    Anyone else seeing that pattern?

  • Not working for both with existing & new acc.

  • Thanks OP got a extra large extra shot $6 mocha for free :)

Worked on android app with code

  • Sorry for the "I am technically inept and ashamed" question.

But because I added the code into the app before they disabled it, can I still get the free coffees? Or is this deal completely over?

    • Still works if you already put the code in before it expired :)

      • +4

Not sure if this is true - I put the code in yesterday, but right now my cart is asking me to pay.
I'm on Android - not sure if this makes a difference??

        • Ditto; just checked (also on Android and as of about twenty minutes ago was still showing as free as seen in my screenshot https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/18431/51633/screenshot… )

        • +1

@kerfuffle: just checked too! doesn't work for me and i put the code in yesterday.

        • Oh you're right, it was working for me on time of comment and now it's fixed..

        • +3

@kerfuffle: same problem as you both

Saw it go from Free to paid before my eyes.

        • I put the code in yesterday all good but now not allow me to order for free…

        • +4

Same here. happydude is not happy.

        • +4

Same.. I decided to send an email to support!

        • @doweyy: Fixed? Or broken? :P

        • @Jaded: Let us know what they say!

    • I added the code yesterday as well. Just tried it 10 minutes ago and it didn't work. Not sure if it's my particular cafe or if they disabled everything.

  • +1

used it this morning free coffee thanks OP

  • Thanks OP had one yesterday, going for second round

    • +1

hi mate is it working for you today? I added the code yesterday successfully and am trying to get a free covfefe today. Not letting me :/

      • having the same issue here

      • Just checked and it doesn’t:/

  • I added the code yesterday and it said my code was successfully applied. Can I use it today? I just tried to place an order but there is no where on the App for me to apply the code (or something like "select free coffees offer") at checkout? What I saw was just the "Place order" button. Do I press that?

    • i applied the code yesterday but tried to order something this morning and the discount was gone. Yesterday when I put a drink in my cart it showed $0.00, now its showing $3.50 or whatever it costs.

I tried adding the code again but it says it is now invalid

      :(

      • Thanks. That answered my question. Guess this offer is over now :(

  • I think they've changed it to ONE free coffee. After your first coffee you will have to pay.

    • +2

i haven't claimed any and it still shows that i have to pay :(

      • Yes. That is what I was seeing. Guess I have to pay as well. I was hesitated to press the "Place Order" button

      • I ordered about 45 minutes ago and got it for free. Maybe they've shut the whole free coffee thing down due to being ozbargained.

        • +1

I'm guessing they got rid of the code (incl those that put it in yesterday) some time around 10am.

  • Worked, all extras were included :)

    • did you apply the code today or yesterday? I can't get it to work after applying yesterday

      • Applied the code yesterday, purchased for the first time this morning (at 9:30 - there may have been an expiry time soon after)

  • +3

Wow denied. Havent ordered yet No coffee for me :(

    • +1

no free coffee for the king :(

  • +13

No coffee Eventhough code was redeemed. Dodgy marketing tactic. Delete app

    • +3

Yep think I'll do the same

    • +3

Agree that this sucks, but dodgy marketing tactic?

Pretty sure no one on Hey You actively advertised this… at all in fact lol

      • I am a bit skeptical on this point

They didn't need to advertise, perhaps it went like this: they knew the ozb community would advertise it for them and get their app installed on everyone's phone.

Then when it's time to actually deliver the product they plead ignorance and revoke the offer but enjoy their free/cheap marketing all the same.

  • +3

What a shambles. Things got too expensive for them and they just pulled the promotion. Redeemed yesterday but now unable to get free coffee.

    • It was probably not a public promotion.

  • -37

    Hi all,

This promotional code was not meant for general public use and was provided to a small group of people for a specific reason. The promotional code should not have been advertised for general use and Hey You has disabled it for future use.

    Thanks,

    • +15

Should've limited the number of codes that could be redeemed, now you know for next time. Unfortunately also means everyone on this thread is now deleting the app (and will probably never use it again). At least I got my one free coffee ;)

      • +13

Yup, just deleted and a bit disappointed to have missed out. They now want an extra 12c just for using their app… wont bother ever using it!

        Lessons for heyyou;

        1. Learn how to run a promo and be prepared by limiting voucher codes - you have now run a negative PR campaign, well done!
        2. Negotiate your fees with the supplier, not the consumer - that sh!t won't fly
    • +3

Hey Marlowe, how to be part of that small group of people for the next promotional code? :)

    • +9

Wow. 19 downvotes? They didnt even advertise this themselves and it wasnt meant for the public. So not only have they lost a few thousand dollars shouting free coffee for OzBargainers who have intentionally tried to buy the most expensive coffees for free, theyre now getting bad rep from the people that missed out who feel they are entitled to free coffees and others who are claiming this was some intentional orchestrated scam? Im surprised they havent actually charged anyone, as they have literally gained nothing from this, while you guys still think they owe you something for free. And those that did get free coffees are still ungrateful and bad mouthing them. Ouch. Brutal. Talk about mindless mob mentality.

      • Looks like you've had too much coffee…

      • +2

If you got at least one free coffee then at least thank them instead of bad mouthing them! This isn't what we want people to depict the ozbargain communtiy as.

      • +5

Not arguing with you there. But when a company makes an error (regardless of whether it's an honest mistake or not and whether it's their fault or not), it's a PR exercise because customers are "the mob". The customer is always right as they say. Hey You just needs a better PR person.

For example, they could have limited free coffees to 1 per person instead of disabling it altogether. Their cost of customer acquisition would've been just $4 or $5 per person and that is likely what it normally costs them anyway (if not more) to acquire a new customer. This way at least they don't lose hundreds of new users and generate bad PR. Just my 2c (I am not a marketing person so what do I know).

    • +1

Thanks Rep, still got a free coffee.

  • +9

Since they added the surcharge I've stopped using the app

  • +17

App deleted, amateur hour at Hey You

  • +1

Visit Level 13 333 George St! :) Get free coffee lol

    • What's on lvl 13?

      • +2

        Their office?

  • -7

Blatant grab for mobile numbers/names. Uninstalled.

    • +6

      Blatant grab for mobile numbers/names

Probably not. This was not advertised by Hey You at all.

In addition, it works for existing customers - they already have our mobile number/name/email. If it was a grab of that nature it would've been for new customers only.

  • -1

They've revoked the code altogether. No more free coffees even for ppl who redeemed the code yesterday!. Scums, will be uninstalling now.

  • +5

If the code has been added successfully then imo they should honour it.

    • +2

They aren't anymore, i just tried

    • +1

they'll have all sorts of T&C's around the promotion can be cancelled or changed at any time, blah blah blah…

  • +8

    App Deleted

  • +5

    Yep uninstalled

  • +5

Hey you - delete that app now! ;)

  • +3

    Doesn't work anymore. Sad life.

  • +1

Initially the app said the code was working but it now appears they have pulled it and cancelled previously entered codes.

  • +1

    How disappointing :(

    • +2

      Very.
      That's how.

  • +3

Shame on them - they should have honoured it for those who redeemed the code yesterday

And some cafes charge $0.8 for service fee. Also, I realised that some cafes actually charge a bit more expensive if you use HeyYou than purchasing in store. Not a very happy customer

  • +2

    app deleted

  • Redeemed last night and now not being honoured.
    Disappointing :(
I encourage people in the same boat as me to leave a review on App Store / Play Store.

  • +1

Shame for hey you, not using their service, uninstalled.

  • +3

Got one coffee in before the lock. Will be uninstalling once I've redeemed my one loyalty coffee. :)

    • +1

Still a great deal! Don't get why people are complaining…

      • +2

Too many Brodens I guess, would have ruined the company perhaps. Would be peeved if I hadn't gotten at least one freebie, though.

        • +2

          Too many Brodens I guess
HeHe maybe I need to change my username

        • +2

This is being abused. People ordering $12 coffees that they would never order if they themselves were paying out of own pocket.

  • +6

    Uninstall everyone!

    • +3

      Autobots, uninstall!

  • Adds to extensive list of OzBargained deals hahaha
Thanks for this, got 2 free large coffees while it lasted!

  • +2

    Heyyou F U!
    Uninstalled!

  • +10

Deleted the app. I used to be a loyal user of the app, from back then they were Beat the Queue, but with their multitude of F-You's to their customers…… First the addition of service charges, then the survey offering a free coffee if you complete it only to then claim they sent the survey in error to you so no coffee, and now this. What a bunch of knuckle heads.

    • +2

Pathetic effort to remove already redeemed codes. Hey Goodbye. Vote revoked.

  • +1

Never have I had something like this removed from my account from any company before. What a disgrace. I assume they created this voucher to improve business, hoping some free coffees would create regular users. So surely in that model, the more the better. Trash.

    • Follow up.
I complained about what happened and this was their response:

      Hello ,

Just wanted to let you know that we have deactivated your account. Please feel free to sign up again.

      • +1

        LOL wow seriously?!

That kinda sounds like a response to you saying "I wish to delete my account".. what exactly did you say to them?!

        • -4

I successfully redeemed a code yesterday and found today that it had been removed from my account. Can this be rectified? Otherwise, I would like my details to be removed from your database as I will be deleting my account and app.

        • +3

@ryzza22: So you asked for your account to be deleted and they deleted it for you? Whats the problem exactly?

        • -3

          @Orpheus:

There wasn't a problem. If you reread it properly you will see that I didn't ask for my account to be deleted, I asked if it could be rectified (look for the question mark). I was just commenting my experiences in regards to the company involved with this deal, which is one of the features and appeals of this website, we can help each other have better experiences. In the second sentence (the one one after the first), I asked if it could be rectified, which wasn't responded to. I was told that I could feel free to sign up again. Again I am just commenting on the company associated with the deal, not the OP. I am not the only unhappy person here either.

        • @ryzza22: You asked it as a question and they did not need to respond to it because you effectively give them a backup option if the problem could not be rectified. This was their way of saying "no, it will not be rectified, so we will do the next thing you told us to do which was to deactivate your account".
