Travel SIM for UK and Europe / Egypt?

Hi All,

The family & I are going to be in Singapore for 5 hours (stopover) on the way to Egypt, Europe and lastly The UK (in that order) in 2 weeks time (10th September onwards for 5 weeks). We kind of make accommodation plans as we go (cos it's not peak season), so need access to data if free wifi is a bit flakey - particularly in Egypt (for checking hotel prices, ordering Uber cars etc), and of course for receiving/making calls to/from Australia while we're gone.

Does anyone have any good suggs for a temporary SIM that will give us loads of data? We won't make many calls, so data's the big priority. We're stopping in Singapore long enough to grab something, if they have any good deals for the areas we're going to?

    Europe is a funny beast with roaming etc. Sadly youre best bet is to pickup a new sim card in each country. They're cheap as these days!

      Thanks Jimmy, I've done that in the past, but they never seem to come with useful data allowances. I may just have to buy more data and restrict the kids!

        Europe did a big roam change, but its only for EU people. You have to have the service for 6 months before you can 'roam' without charges. So for tourists that still means a new sim in each country.

        How much data are you wanting?

    Most prepaid plans now allow roaming through the EU without any sort of wait time. Have a look on there and find your favourite, keep in mind that some SIM cards are harder to find when you're on the ground so sometimes have a couple of options in mind.

    For UK and Europe in general I d recommend 3mobile as it offers plans for outside UK travel and for quite cheap. Not sure about Egypt, but I belive you can find LEBARA there, which is an international company an it works quite well

    I prettymuch think so. So it's lebara. What is your schedule. What annoys me is that if I have a Vodafone sim, or £ mObile from UK, there is no way I can transfer my plan to a Vodafone Italy or Spain or Germany, whcih is a bit silly.
    Unfortunately I think you will have to adapt to local cheap sims

      Thanks Tank. Egypt I'll probably not worry about as we're only there for 5 days. But then we get to Europe for the rest (Italy mostly) so would be good to know who offers best data deals there I guess would be my priority. Anyway, cheers for your help.
