Further $10/Month Discount on Month-to-Month NBN Contracts @ Buzz Telco - from $39/Month for 12/1Mbps Unlimited after Discount

1568

Buzz Telco is excited to announce the return of our $10 Off Promotion for a limited time due to popular demand. This will only be available to the first 3,000 Applicants only.

Our plans all come with Unlimited Downloads and your Basic Home Phone Service.

Of course Terms and Conditions Apply, this is only available to the first 3,000 customers and is only available to new customers.

Why the 3,000 customer limit? We have decided to limit the promotion this time to remove the risk of doing damage to our network (getting congested and having customers experience slow speeds). The 3,000 Service Limit has been carefully calculated by our Network Engineers to ensure that we will not be seeing congestion from this promotion.

Our Plans are:

Basic Unlimited - Up to 12/1Mbps - $49 per Month - Only $39 on Month to Month Contracts
Standard Unlimited - Up to 25/5Mbps - $59 per Month - Only $49 on Month to Month Contracts
Premium Unlimited - Up to 100/40Mbps - $69 per Month - Only $59 on Month to Month Contracts

All plans include a Static IP Address and are available across all access types (except Satelite). You will need a NBN Ready Modem to use this service and we do require VLAN Tagging for FTTN and HFC Connections (we are working on getting rid of this requirement).

If you need a NBN Ready Modem we offer the NetComm NF10WV for $120 or the NetComm NF17ACV for $150. Both modems include Delivery and Configuration.

Please be aware, we do offer our connections as IPoE and not PPPoE, so if you are going to be using your own modem, this is something you will need to check, we are able to help with that.

Please contact our team if you have any questions. Our Brisbane Based Call Center is open 24/7 and during the promotion, our Live Chat Team will be available from 9 AM to midnight Monday - Friday.

Due to the high demand we generally get when we launch an OzBargin Promotion, there may be delays in responses on this forum. We have allocated two representatives to answer questions on this forum, between 8 AM - 4 PM and another between 4 PM and midnight, however, please be aware they do other work as well :).

We are not putting a time limit on this promotion, however, as soon as we are sold out the promotion will be over. We can not extend this offer as it would risk us affecting the service being delivered to our customers.

A popular question that keeps getting asked is if we allow pre-orders. I thought I would take the time to give an answer in the main post for easy reference: We allow pre-orders up to July 2018. This will lock you in as one of the 3,000 Services on the promotion. Your first month will be taken up front, however if you decide between now and when your service is scheduled to start that you no longer wish to receive it, we will happily refund your money.

Given my experience with the D9, I can tell you that the standard D9 does not support VLAN tagging but if people contact TP-Link's tech support they can supply a firmware which incorporates it. They did for me at least within an afternoon and it works well.

    • +1

I might be able to help while you wait for an answer from Jeremy..

      1. When the NBN person attended my site to install HFC equipment, he advised me that the NBN connection utilises Telstra cable network even tho my area was only serviced by Optus cable network (which I found out later that Optus cable network is being shutdown in my area).

      2. The current release version for D9 does not support VLAN tagging! I had the "fun and joy" of being bounced between buzz telco (buzz telco support did advise me it is supported before I signed up) and tp-link to establish this a couple of months ago. TP-Link, in the end provided me an experimental firmware to get the D9 to support VLAN tagging and I am using that with the service now.

      • Experimental firmware sounds interesting. How long have u had the updated firmware? Mind sharing the firmware via a cloud download? Thanks

        • Should have read further before posting above but I have it as well. It works well. Mine was marked test rather than experimental and I am sure TP-Link will supply a copy without much fuss, they did for me.

        • I've been running it since 6/8/17 so not very long. There were some interesting "side effects" I have found at the start of the setup, that I have documented and provided feedback back to TP-Link so it might be best you request from TP-Link to see if they have a later version than the one I have.

        • @GaryG: was your post addressed to me or Jeremy? And was your post posted before my post on the first ware comment?

        • @LurvinOZB: Sorry my first post above yours was to Jeremy and the second was to you but they both were to say the same that the Archer D9 will do the job you just need to ask TP-Link for the firmware.

Don't feel like I can share it but maybe with more people asking they might make it public/release as it works fine.

        • @GaryG:

"Should have read further before posting above but I have it as well" <— and my reply to your not very useful comment "And was your post posted before my post on the first ware comment?" excuse the typo

"Don't feel like I can share it" <— my comment earlier was directed to yotis, which was posted earlier than your comment. And a response like the one from yotis citing a valid reason that an updated version might be available direct from TP Link was a more constructive reply

        • @LurvinOZB: Well clearly you don't find any value to my posts so I'll stop.

Great company to deal with. The support team is the nicest people I have ever had to talk to.
I work in IT support and wish I could provide service like these guys do.

Can I switch between Premium, Standard and Basic plans month to month whilst retaining the $10 discount?

      Hi Sktz

      Yes you can.

    Hi Rep/Jeremy,

I am getting NBN HFC in Oct-Dec, any chance I can sign up with you now and enjoy the price?

    • +1

      Hi jackx

Sure can :). Just place it in the order notes. Your first month will still be charged upfront, however, you won't actually take effect until your service is activated.

      Cheers

    Hi
I have a few questions for OP as I am considering the change from TPG (2nd to Telstra in NBN bandwith allocation for NBN), and I might add, I have encountered an excellent consistent service in the Northern Adelaide area of 90/35 and 5 to 9ms pings on TPGs FTTN 100 plan.
I am considering moving to the Buzztelco 100/40, porting phone number from TPG on PAYG if that is possible, and was concerned I may lose quality of internet speed/ping if i do so.

As I am not totally certain of the NBN wholesale arena, may I ask who you use for Adelaide NBN - Do you have your service direct from NBN or use Optus or equiv wholesaler for your NBN Service.

Also, are your modems just configured or do they have special Buzztelco related Firmware installed.

Will get one of the relatives across to you guys as well, as HFC has just become available in their area.

    Comments Appreciated.

When you are looking at moving to a different provider from TPG, keep in mind TPG have a 30 days notice from the time they agreed that you are cancelling the service. Call TPG and check if it doesn't apply to you (if you are lucky!).

  • I signed up last time this was on. Setup was easy, customer support was also very good once the initial flood died down. One way I managed to skip that was to schedule a delayed connection to line up with my other provider's 30 day notice period. Quick modem config change and it's all good.

My 100/40 FTTP connection sits at 90+/38+ off peak and can drop to around 75+/30+ peak, which is what I expected coming into it. It's plenty for my needs right now and is very cost effective at $59/mth. Had no issues with dropouts or lack of service so far.

  • I have Sagemcom Gateway F@ST 3864 modem (from Optus). Anyone knows if I can configure static IP? I have used it with ABB no problem.

    • I also have this modem from Optus, does anyone know if you can configure this for VoIP with Buzz Telco (or other Non-Optus ISPs)?

    • Hi John

The Sagemcom won't work, unfortunately, as it doesn't allow you to setup with IPoE, only PPPoE.

      Cheers

      Jeremy

      • Are you sure? I have got it working with Aussie Broadband which is IPoE. I'm just not sure I can set a static IP, I haven't try this before. I can look into it tonight.

        • +1

          Hi John

Sorry, I should have been more precise. As we do IPoE with Static IP they don't work. If the IP was being assigned by DHCP they would work, however we quickly removed this not long after introducing it as it created a bottleneck which we didn't like to see.

          Cheers

          Jeremy

        • @BuzzTelco: Copy that. Thanks Jeremy

        • @BuzzTelco: i came home and login to my sagemcom modem with optus admin account (they do not disclose this but I have access to it). I came to this page, which to my understanding means I can set a static IP address? Am I right?

          https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/396/51765/img_1447.png

Best way to try I suppose when I actually have the account activated next month and try myself. But if anyone has it and can try, the account is basically "admin" pass "Y3s0ptus"

  • any way to apply this to existing accounts? have an NBN service bought without promo a couple of weeks ago

  • How do I check if nbn is available ?

  • +4

Happy Buzz customer. Better than MR. Fast customer service. Speed consistance 90/35.

  • Signed up with Buzz the last time this came around. Did have some hiccups but way better than previous dealings with iPrimus. Speeds better than previous ADSL2+. Note that Buzz does not guarantee speeds.
Word of advice to new signups- cancel the old service yourself. There is a disjoint in this process and I received a bill from iPrimus which now eats up a chunk of my discount for the first year.

  • Question, do you guys even make money at this price point? How do you manage to avoid congestion with the price of CVCs?
Been a customer for almost 2 months and very happy with the speeds. Was previously with Skymesh, but their new owners seemed to have let the quality of service go down the toilet.

    • +1

      Hi edshays

We do make money at this price point. By keeping a quality service (not letting our CVC drop down) we are able to save money on Support costs (an employee to answer a speed complaint costs a lot more than just preventing the speed complaints). Also, we get to take advantage of the CVC Discounting by not heavily contending our traffic. Also, due to our volume of services, we are on custom pricing with AAPT.

      Cheers

      Jeremy

  • Ported to Buzz about 5 months ago from Optus 100/40. I have been immensely impressed with these guys and their communication is second to none. I have recommended them to many friends and family.

Just took a speed test for you all: http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6575425080

    • Did you use the same modem from Optus?

  • Done, hope it is as good as the fans say!

  • Signed up in July with the same promo for 100/40. So far so good, speed seems consistent so far. Telling my family to join in.

  • +1

Strangest sign up process with an ISP that I have ever encountered. No requirement to specify a site address anywhere. They have my money but no process or instructions to do anything with it. Sounds like a dream business!

  • Is ClubTelco website is down? Try to contact through Website Contact form and never went through. I've placed an order 25/5 MBPs for $49.99 (no contract). Currently, I've iiNet NBN and new billing cycle will start on 8 September. Just spoke with them and they assured I could cancel the service on same day. I just don't want to be without internet. Do you have a time frame for new connection? We already have NBN connection at our premises and NBN model as well.

  • +1

I'd buy in a heartbeat but…no NBN in sight for me. sigh

Also, I wish more resellers did this:

We can not extend this offer as it would risk us affecting the service being delivered to our customers.

    Well done, OP.

  • My parents house has NBN 'planned' for August and the nbnco website says building has commenced
If I jump on this plan now because it is a very good deal, will I only be charged once the service actually begins? (which I hope isn't too long from now but who knows with this rollout)?

  • Hi OP,
Could you advise the config required on the router.
From what I could see so far
Router Set to Bridge mode with IPoE
And VLAN tagging set. What is the VLAN ID?
    Anything else?

    • +1

it needs to be static ip address and the vlan should be 100

    • +1

Static IP, static DNS, VLAN 100.

    Hi Jeremy/ Buzz Telco

I'm currently with skymesh on FTTP and I have two questions:
    - I use the Asus DSL AC68U as a wireless router connected to the NBN modem, will that that be compatible with Buzz Telco?
    - How long will connection take once I have canceled my servic with Skymesh?

    Thanks

    • as long as it has static ip and vlan/iptv enabled that should be fine.

my connection was up the day the telstra guys attended and installed a modem.

    • FTTP does not need vlan tagging, so I am sure your router will work with Buzz Telco.

  • Very happy with Buzz Tech Support. Operators available 24/7 and they are not from the sub-continent. We had problem getting connected and it has to do with the stupid ASUS firmware. The Techs helped with useful suggestions instead of palming us off with "we only support our own modems."

  • Can we choose the date we churn? I'm only a couple of days into the month with my current provider (FTTN)

  • Hi, Will using an ASUS DSL-AC68U via FTTN IPoE work ok? Does this modem have that option or only IPoA?… Anyone using it?

    • +1

My sister is using the AC68U with Buzz FTTN. ASUS's firmware is buggy and it was a nightmare to get it to work. ASUS Tech Support is a joke. Buzz tried their best to help but in the end I had to discovered the correct combination through trial and error.

I've sent you a PM with my procedure.

    Hi Rep/Jeremy,

As an existing customer, I felt a bit upset. The new offer is more attractive than the old 6-month $20 off without a router ($120 off), but I had to buy a $200 router to have the VLAN function in order to enable the network, and obviously I won't have the $10 permanent discount. I would really appreciate if you guys can offer us the $10 discount too after 6 month.

    Regards,
    K

  • Not sure of the significance about VLAN Tagging for my upcoming HFC connection. What the hell is it and will my existing TP Link Archer VR900 modem/router assist with this?

  • +1

Does FTTP also require VLAN tagging ?

    • Nope, the NTD does it for you transparently.

  • Hi, Buzztelco.
Is the free modem still available if u enter the contract?

  • So I have to give 30 days notice. Billing date is 25th of the Month. So that means I am 3 days in, by the time the 30 days is up, I will be into another month of my current plan, does that mean I have to wait 2 months before I can churn across with out paying twice in one month? Seems likes trying to get the perfect churn would almost be impossible. Also yo need to have your phone connected still, i.e still have previous account open, before the phone churn can happen.

  • Hey, just curious which ASN you use, just want to have a look at your transit and peering before I signup.

  • VLAN Tagging
    IPoE

damn, I've bought a cheap Technicolor TG799vac for my upcoming new houses' FTTN connection next month, and it supports neither of these (nor does the linksys router I was going to bridge it to)

Anyone know a cheap compatible modem that can be bridged that supports the above?
Was looking at ABB or Telecube, but this deal could also be in contention.

    • I was with Buzz for a short period. I used the TG799vac in bridged mode, and used a Mikrotik RB750 as the router - which is where I set the VLAN100 setting in. These routers are cheap ( https://shop.duxtel.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=30&product… ) or you can pay more to get one with better features (ie better wireless, gig-e ports, etc).
I can also confirm that any of the usual Netcomm FTTN routers support the required features.. eg NF10W, etc.

      • Was considering taking up this offer to load balance with my existing ABB connection - I have a spare TG799vac, so it could be used in conjunction with an Edgerouter Lite (needed for the load balancing process anyway) to add VLAN tagging to the TG799vac to allow it to work with Buzz's systems?

  • Decisions decisions decisions!

My Optus Cable gives me 35 down and miserable 1 up. NBN speed is like a box of chocolate, to sign up or not to sign up …

    • You will be forced to move to NBN one day.

      • Yes that's true, still got 1.5 yrs before the move (I think it's 18 months?)

Might sign up and give it a go

        • NOPE, if NBN is active you will be forced to move soon.

Originally optus was bullying customers to switch within 30days or being kicked off but after rage it's moved this to 90days ignoring the 18 month switch.

I'm in the same boat.. NBN HFC was just activated last month and i received my 90day notice from optus to switch or be kicked noticed last week.

Tried to offer me a optus bundle but denied.. was crappy deal and wouldnt include speedboost as i have already.

        • @strat: that's interesting. My place was nbn ready since June and all I gotten was spam mails and emails on nbn service providers. The hard date of 18 months was what I read on the nbn brochure sent by nbn when my place was connected. Perhaps mileage differs for locations.

  • Very happy with BuzzTelco so far. Not sure 🤔 If in future this would degrade

  • Can I confirm what will happen if I sign for 24 months and have to move to a new address in the middle of the contract?

Will it just carry over to the new address or will I have to cancel and resign?

  • I'm with Activ8Me FTTP using Netgear R8000, looks like a good deal!
Pretty sure router is compatible with VLAN tagging, Buzz can you guys confirm?
Also, how can we organise connection to overlap by a couple days? think Activ8me needs a month notice

    • +1

FTTP does not need VLAN tagging, so I am sure your router will work with Buzz Telco.

  • Just signed up. I have FTTP so hopefully the speeds are good!

  • For HFC NBN, I take it i will need a ATA if i also want to port over my phone number as i just have a Asus AC3200 wireless router.

so with the Arris HFC modem provided by NBN tech at install.

NBN HFC modem > My router >> VoIP ATA >>> cordless phone?

  • +2

Had serious speed issues in first few weeks, to a stage that I was going back to my previous provider.
Waited a little longer as Jeremy explained that they oversold bandwidth and will never happen again. After speed was fixed, I am quite happy.

    Great people and service.

    @Jeremy - Dont oversell again guys …..

  • Really interested in signing up

On your website it says NBN at my home is available, but on the nbnco website it says NBN is still under construction. Who should I believe? I want to sign up for this deal ASAP!

    • Hi Shook5Yen

If you have a chat to our Live Chat Team and give them the address, they will be able to run the qualification in the Portal and confirm the NBN Status for you. The online SQ does use the same database, however sometimes autocomplete does some weird things.

      Cheers

      Jeremy

  • I was thinking of signing up with myRepublic. Is this better?
Will Telstra router work with this?

    • This has static IP and better support for less money. I think that makes this better.

    • +1

Make informed decision. There are horror stories about MyRepublic now. I am using Buzz now. Had used MR & had to wait on call from 20 to 40 min to talk to someone. With Buzz it is straight forward.

  • Can you do areas with Telstra Velicity only?

  • I'm on 100/40 plan but still getting no more than 25Mbps and still waiting for a promised modem…

    • Ouch, what type of connection and location?

  • Is there an installation fee?

  • There is no NBN in my area yet. I expect it will be about mid to late September. Can I join you now?

  • Signed up to previous offer and can vouch for these guys. More in particular Jeremy whom sorted my issue with NBN co on a Sunday!

Keep up the excellent work Buzz Telco

  • Noob question maybe - I'm moving house to Heathmont vic who are apparently getting connected oct-dec 2017 via hfc. Moving in next month so I wasn't sure what is the best way to go about internet In the meantime. Just get some low cost month to month setup until nbn is available and then sign up to something like this deal?

  • Thanks I've signed up but I've never port broadband providers before - what action is required on my part, if any? Do I have to call my existing provider (TPG) to cancel it? and if so, when?

    • +1

      Hi lawyerz

Please send us a quick PM on here with your name and/or order number and we will give you a call regarding your order.

I can confirm that TPG do have a notice period of 30 days, we will be able to delay your connection for this and answer any other questions you may have :).

      Cheers

      Jeremy

      • It's been two days and I'm still pending on a reply on both PM and a ticket opened.

  • We are getting NBN in October/November in our area, can I pre-order with you and get the connection when it is available?

  • How is your invoice process going, Jeremy? I got the May and June ones but it's nearly September and no August invoice.

And none of the paid ones show in my account online.

Buzz Telco is the only business I know of where the customer chases the business to pay their bill.

    • Hi shaybisc

Can you please send us a PM with your name so we can look into your account. As far as I knew, all invoice issues were fixed. I'm sure you'd prefer not to pay, but we need to find these issues so we can eliminate them.

We also have a person starting on Monday next week, who's sole job is going to be going through each account and ensuring they are being invoiced properly (I feel sorry for them already, I don't think they realise what they are in for).

      Cheers

      Jeremy

Since nbn activated in my area I have been (and still) with Buzz Telco for the past 2 months but will be switching next month. I was getting relatively good but very inconsistent speeds over HFC during diff times of day (40mbps to 85mbps). Upon my first complaint support team asked me to provide data so they can investigate but never heard back. One other thing to mention is that it's really hard to get support team as they're really busy. Generally these guys are good given the price and I would've stuck to them if no inconsistent speeds

    • Hi talebi

Please send a PM through so that us in the Management Team can have a look at this for you and get it sorted out :).

      Cheers

      Jeremy

  • I've been with with Aussie Broadband on HFC (in Brisbane) for the past 2 months and I get the occasional intermittent dropout about once or twice a week which is always resolved by power cycling the NBN Arris modem, followed by a reboot of my NetComm NF8AC router. Would changing my ISP make any difference or is this an NBN-related issue?

    • What speed is your plan?

      • 25/5 Mb/s.

        • Do you have heaps of devices using the net at the same time? When I was with TPG 12/1 I would dropout multiple times a day sometimes and had like 6-8 devices on at the same time. Not happening with Buzz so far with 100/40. Didn't change any hardware - FTTP. Maybe it has something to do with static IP but not sure.

        • @currentfad:
I have between 2 to 4 devices connected at any one time.

Also, the 4 lights on the Arris modem still remain solid green during the dropouts.

  • +1

    Hi Rep,
    1. I am currently with activ8me. If i sign up with you guys who will need to give notice and will i be able to nominate my start date so i don't waste the cost i alread paid to my current provider?
    2. How much downtime would i be expecting?
    3. How would i know whether i am still in the 3000 customers allowed for the deal?

  • I signed up on the last $10 off deal, 100/40, FTTP in Taigum, QLD. I was with TPG 100/40 unlimited at $99 pm, so I was interested in $40 a month savings. The first week my speeds were down compared to TPG but still in the "acceptable" range for the savings. After the first week speeds are comparable to my TPG and I've had no issues, so it worked out well for me.

I must point out that I didn't have any issues with TPG , no drop outs etc. Speeds were decent etc. - best average was approx 90-94 Mbps. during off peak times. Here's the test I just did during peak times:

    http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6575700939

  • Very interested in this deal!

    Internet noob here, 2 questions:

    1. How do I change from my existing service provider nbn to you guys?
    2. How do I check if my modem is compatible with your service?

    Thanks!

    • Hey orangehighlight,

The best what for you to know if it will be supported is to contact the support line on 1800 053 250, or chat to the team on live chat. They will be able to get you exact answers to those types of questions!

As for the change, its as easy as clicking the sign up button on the website and filling in your details!

      -Mitch
