Good Value / Quality Boxing Gear

Hi OzBargainers. Looking for some advice again this time around boxing gear. Myself and my partner are looking to change up our fitness reigeme and looking to get into a little bit of boxing. Looking for some suggestions on mostly gloves and pads and combos if available although bags and other training gear suggestions are welcomed.

As an OzBargainer not looking to break the bank however happy to pay for quality. Just looking to stay fit and not become the next Floyd Mayweather.

Thanks in advance! - Ads.

  • Real boxers don't need 'gear'. Knuckles and a firm stance will do the trick.

    • Definitely not the answer I was looking for but thanks all the same ;)

  • Aldi have quite a few boxing products on sale at the moment: Gloves, Pads, Speed ball, and full boxing bag set-up

    • Thanks! I'll have to go out and visit some of the local ALDI's and see if they have some stock left!

  • If you're new to it I wouldn't go buying bags or pads just yet, I'd spend that money on some actual training with an instructor to pick up a bit of knowledge first up - you want to know how to wrap your hands properly as well as learning good form and technique.

A decent pair of 16oz gloves will set you back around $60 but there's no need to spend any more than that, I normally pay $10/pair for my wraps. If you're really unsure, most boxing / fighting gyms would be able to sort you out with a basic set but obvously you'll pay a little more than if you bought online.

    • Thanks for your input. In the past I have been doing some boxing classes so have a little bit of an idea however definitely still a long way to go so some training is on the cards. Thanks for the gloves recommendation there seems to be some decent looking Everlast brand gloves around the 60 mark on eBay so might be worthwhile picking up!

  • Not sure about brands but definitely try going eBay for 20% off
