      you da real mvp

  • +1

Lol. That's some great deal there. Maybe because Daydream 2 is coming soon along with Pixel 2?

    • My reading puts Daydream 2 as a software update.

      • Im betting there will be a new headset and updated software that wont be pushed to the older/current headset.

  • +5

What can I do with a piece of rubber worth $50?

  • +1

Is it compatible with non pixel phones?

    • +1

It is compatible with ZTE axon 7 with nougat

    • +1

      Needs an AMOLED display

Oh wow I've got the S7, seems like it's already old tech now :'(

        • +1

Its not that the S7 is old tech, I think the S7 came out much earlier than the Pixel and DayDream requirements were finalised by Google, so Samsung gave it a miss last year, but pushed for compliance this year with their S8.

      • +2

Hmm now which one of those is the cheapest? :Þ

      • I believe the Samsung Note 8 should also be on that list

      • Note8 is supposedly Daydream ready out of the box.

  • cheers!

  • Yes some do a google search and you will find a list. Support samsung S8 being one of them

  • I have a problem and it is ozbargain! Why did I get yet another vr headset I won't use?!

  • The cheapest one is gone. I grabbed the 55AUD one.

    • I just paid 45 dollars for the clear case. So it's still there. I'm gonna use it as a coaster. Peeps gonna think I'm loaded!

  • -1

Nice! Bought one without knowing what apps/games are on it lol

    • +2

I also have a Gear VR. I think it is a good time to compare those headsets.

  • +1

You're practically MAKING MONEY by buying this.

    • +1

you would be insane not to buy 100

      • +2

        Limit of one per customer

        They are on to Ozbargainers!!

On that note, how much would a new Google Pixel XL case go for on eBay?

    • +1

Think I can sell the DayDream VR on eBay for a profit?

      • I see that 16 have sold on eBay Australia, generally in the range of $60-70. They charged $10-15 shipping.

So as long as the market isn't flooded, you could gain around $20 for your time and investment.

  • +2

The problem with daydream is it makes your phone overheat. Could potentially have bad effect on your phone battery long term. Just google it. Otherwise good price to have a go at VR.

  • +7

Oh it's just a VR head mount for your phone? Those are worthless.

    • +2

This one is extra special, it uses felt.

  • +1

Why wouldn't this work with any handset out there?

  • a lot of cases not in stock :(

    • also, just an FYI, they want your drivers license or passport when you checkout so they know who it is when its delivered.

not willing to giveout my details.

      • Very standard with Telstra delivery from my recent experiences

  • Awesome, thank you! Was looking to buy a Daydream on the weekend.

  • Put VR in the title. I never heard of Google daydream

    • +17

      [ozbargain comment response]

agree, should put [laptop] with all macbook deals as well and [on-demand music streaming service] with all spotify deals

always annoying when OP makes us type in a google search or click the link

      • -1

        Agree

      • [ozbargain comment reply to takutox's Ozbargain comment response]
        ^^ love this haha

Lol you are so lazy!! I agree to a point, if it's something relatively unknown of, or something that you think is necessary.
Most people know MacBooks are laptop and Spotify is a streaming service.

      • -4

Just being lazy not putting it in the title

        • +4

It's actually just keeping the site clean and easier to browse, what's lazy is people not performing a quick 5 second Google search to look something up.

        • @Lorindor: How is not putting the main title of an item in keeping the site clean?
It's like putting an post on for an iPhone but not saying what sort.

        • +4

@Regie69 , well I could have been extra lazy and kept the deal to myself

  • Ozbargained? They caught on?

accessories.telstra.com.au will be back online shortly.
    Thank you for your patience.

    • NVM seems to be working now

  • Anyone know how the Telstra Accessories website ships their goods in terms of timing etc?

I'm leaving the country late next week so worried I might miss the package. I wouldn't worry too much and would usually just get someone else in my household to collect - but it's looking like they're going to want to see me personally with my drivers license before the courier will hand it over.

    • eh, decided to roll the dice. Order confirmation says:

We aim to deliver all orders within two business days in metro areas and five business days in regional areas (subject to stock availability and location).

      so should be good.

    • Mine literally just arrived. StarTrack delivered it

  • Thanks OP. Bought with Afterpay

  • Still have 45 dollar cases with that access code just bought one. It better fit my s8. 45 bucks seems OK for decent vr headset..

  • Interestingly, this purchase initiated NAB fraud procedures on my Credit Card. They stated they have had a number of fraudulent calls of late from the merchant "Telstra Accessories".

  • Soooo, this is just an overpriced Google Cardboard and a motion sensing remote??

Do you all realise that you can buy any 'VR headset/Google Cardboard' and a $25 remote for the same effect??

    https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Virtoba-S1-Daydream-Controll…

    • +1

Except that what you are suggesting only saves you like $15 and the quality of this headset is far superior to Google Cardboard.

Or you could buy the $25 remote you suggested and a $35 VR headset and actually spend MORE money than this, for an inferior product.

Also not considering that this deal comes with a case that you can use or resell.

On top of that, purchase this product and you have a brand name item you can toy with for a while then resell onward and likely recoup the the $50 spent.

  • +1

Mine just arrived to work - shipped via StarTrack

    • When did you order?

      • +1

17:10 last night! Had the shipping notification at 18:09

        • +1

          Impressed.

        • ou darn, I ordered wrong case instead of buying Pixel XL I choose Pixel case. After doing live chat they said all I can do is send enquiry via website. No phone contact :`(

        • @esdarwin:

What color were you after? I've got a Blue Pixel XL case coming that I'd be happy to swap maybe?

        • @Matt86: I've got coral. Seems like hopeless trying to get Telstra to change it. I've tried all method and can't get them to help.

    • Did you have to provide ID upon taking delivery?

      • It was delivered to the mailroom at work (so, no)

        • Oh I've had to go out to reception (where all our mail goes) to show Star Track my license, when I received my new phone from Telstra.

  • How does the Google Daydream compare with Samsung Gear VR? Curious.

  • +1

Still no delivery or even shipping details email.

    • Me either.

      • This is why I came here..
Thought that it being Telstra that they'd have organised it by now.. Then I remembered… It's Telstra.. Lol

        • Did you guys pay with Afterpay?

        • +1

          @icedtea229:

          Nope, PayPal.

Just found it in my junk, lol

          Cheers!

        • @Matt86: Mine wasn't in junk, email just arrived.

  • got mine on Wed Am after ordering it on Monday PM. I am in Sydney but pretty happy with that. Any app/ suggestions?

  • Ordered mine Monday 8.30PM.

Onboard for delivery today (Wednesday) with StarTrack Overnight.

    • Paypal and ordered around same time as you, but still no email.

      • Same, paid with PayPal too.

Check your junk mail. Just found mine.

        • nope, nothing there unfortunately.

        • @EarthMan:

Darn. I didn't get any tracking but mine arrived today..

Probably going to sell it on eBay, doesn't work too well with my Axon 7 w/Linage OS

        • @Matt86:

Was going to buy an Axon 7 today, glad you tested it. But I am sure it would work with stock firmware 7.1.1

        • +1

          @EarthMan:

Pretty good phone overall, bit heavy compared to my Nexus 5 and 5x

Yeah I bet it would, I think I've found a workaround.. But think I'll just sell it. I have no use for it really and I probably shouldn't have purchased in the first place.

  • Just got a Notification for delivery.

  • Zazz have a daily special on the Google Daydream at $89- plus postage so thankyou to OP.

  • After chasing them with 2 calls and 4 live chats over two days, and even was told in one chat that it was already delivered this morning and the other two chatters gave me conflicting order numbers related to my invoice and all were all wrong,. They said they will send the email to me and only after I escalated to next level support.
Ok so I just received the shipping notice and when I checked with Star Track I was told it not likely to be received today because Telstra has not shipped it out yet and this notification i received is an advanced notice only.
    I

    • Just checking, did the drivers require your id or not. Star Track is listing deliveries as Overnight and not Airlock. Only airlock requires proof of id !!
Pls advise as I am going away interstate from tomorrow evening and want to make sure my family can take delivery.

  • wait.. I just realised I didn't choose a colour for the daydream… what am I getting?

  • Just delivered, and my wife signed for it. Apparently not strict with id requirement.

  • Attempted delivery yesterday morning. Now at local Post Office for pickup.

  • I have ZTE Axon 7 with Daydream. It is pretty cool, I don't use it much but is ok to mess around with something.

    I would recommend

    Skybox vr player
    Avem 33
    altspace vr
    ocean rift
    polyrunner vr
    wonderglade
    Tiny War

They are all free or at least demo versions. I do not purchase apps as a rule.
