  • Do people get benefit out of these activity trackers?

    • I have one and have found it useful in tracking how my daily activities and length of sleep relates to how I feel, so I can change my behaviour to feel better and be more productive, but I'll admit it's a luxury.

    Cheaper to buy from eBay

Use code PINCH5 to make it $170.05 and use CB
last seen $143 from Bing Lee with only 5 upvotes.
IMO too expensive anyway, Fitbit products cost a fortune and are lacking on features, something that Xiaomi has taken advantage of and undercut with their GPS tracking Huami and Pace watches.

Not sure if FitBit ionic will bring them back into the game but i think they're a year too late, and 299 USD price is also unattractive.

    • Updated. Thanks and agreed - get on AliBaba for cheaper alternatives.

  • What does it do that a $30 one doesn't?

The Fitbits are great at breaking or falling apart in a short space of time! Do the cheaper versions do that???

      $149 worth of motivation?? :)

I recently bought an X9 Pro from GearBest. Cost me AU$25.19.

It's horrible compared to my wife's Fitbit Charge 2.

    Cons:
    * Only two very similar watch faces, both with irregular looking digits (7's are taller, 4's are thinner) and each digit is a different colour for some reason, making it difficult to read.
    * Comes with three brightnesses: dim, very dim and extremely dim.
    * The pulse meter (main reason I bought it) has to be manually triggered each time (from the watch or app).
    * The "blood pressure meter" obviously doesn't work.
    * The bluetooth symbol flashes on and off constantly if you don't have the phone app running and connected.

    Pros:
    * The strap is pretty good, although you have to have it quite tight to keep the watch face in the middle of your wrist.
    * The step counter appears to be working properly.

    • each digit is a different colour for some reason

Apparently they skimped on design of the GUI. That's a high school-level design mistake.

The "blood pressure meter" obviously doesn't work

To be fair, there is no way to accurately do this on a watch yet (unless that watch is the size of a fist), so that was never going to work.

These things are why people buy Garmin/Fitbit/Jawbone/etc, for the quality & support.
