Delivered "Fit" Meals

Hi guys, looking to try one of those services where you get premade meals ready to microwave. This will probably save me money in the long run from eating out all the time. Looking for ones which are kinda hefty as looking to bulk.
Have seen quite a few aka mymusclechef/muscledirect/youfoodz etc.I live in sydney also. Wondering if anyone has tried them and can say which ones taste the best and are the best value etc as i'm guessing half of these will taste like cardboard.

Cheers

Cheaper than this would be to prepare meals yourself at home. Cheaper, cleaner and you can control what goes into them

I'm too lazy anad when i do manage to cook something i end up throwing out half because it tastes bad or i get sick of it etc then go buy takeaway or eat out. So pretty much i've accepted this as a middle option which will probably be best for my needs.

      • google how to food

I've seen people I work with get those lite 'n easy meals and they are so small. I'm talking smaller than Dominoes "large" pizza small. You'll probably find yourself going out for takeaway after anyway because you'll feel so hungry - just like after eating at dominoes.

If you cbf meal prepping, you could ask someone (like a parent, friend who likes to cook etc) if they would do it for you for some extra $$$

        • Yeah i'm going after the heftier meals. Lite n Easy is a weight loss company.
Heaps of places like the one's i listed which do 450-500g servings. No one to ask who can cook unfortunately.

  • Thr1ve is not bad. I tried their 12 samples for $96 minus referral credit $25. They taste good too!

  • I've tried Lite n Easy and Thr1ve. Lite n Easy looked and tasted about as good as those cheap frozen meals you get from Coles. Not for me. Thr1ve on the other hand comes fresh (but can be frozen if you need to make them last). They tasted much better, but they were a bit too high in fat content for me (they used ghee in alot of dishes purely to make them richer - I could do without it). It was also fairly expensive, and alot of the meals started to taste the same so I didn't keep it up. But I'd recommend trying them out if you're curious.

  • What are your macros/cals? How many meals you want to eat a day? Does this include breakfast? Which state you in?

You might as well just eat roast chooks from woolies and coles with rice.

    • They're as dry as cardboard from my local store.

  • You can pay for meals on wheels from your local council. They're nutritionally complete and balanced - usually for older people on pensions but you can pay out of pocket for them.

  • Chicken breast/leg from your local butcher and rice in bulk will provide better bulking meals for cheaper,

  • Might be good to see if any sell near you, companies like youfoodz I think also sell in "certain" grocer stores (like some woolworths) might be worth going a little further out just to try them out before you land on a company.

Haven't tried it myself but my friend swears by youfoodz, I myself prefer KFC, I think his is healthier though :p.

As others have said though, you can also buy microwavable rice packets which taste just like out the rice cooker to me, fry some chicken with a random sauce packet and you got basically what a lot of these stores do. Might be good if you want to combine with a fit delivered meal (cook some meals, delivered rest on days you're more tired?).

    • There is no reason whatsoever to buy microwavable rice packets…you can literally buy a 1kg pack of rice and microwave it yourself. Here's how :

      -Take half cup of rice

      -Rinse once

-Use 1-1.5 cups of water (depending on type of rice, instructions will be listed on the pack)

-Microwave for approx 10 minutes at 1000w

      -VOILA

Thats literally it. There is zero effort involved.

  • MyFitnessKitchn has meals that cater for bulking.

  • Just saw an ad on youtube: mccain mansized meals. Maybe check them out.

    • way too much fat in these

  • Can't speak to the health content but hubby and I have been trying You Foodz with the aim of trying to be healthier when life gets crazy. Taste wise we're impressed so far only downside is the peas/carrots can be a little too crunchy.
