    Good?

  • The mobile playback feature is nice. Anyone know how this compares with the Viofo A119?

  • Viola A119, A119s, Kapture KPT-820, similar price now, how to choose? anyone knows?

  • i checked out the some footage, its nice yet you cant read any license plates… so its pretty much garbage

why neg? it's a valid point.

pretty sure $100 recorder, one should expect no. plates to be readable at least.

make sure to put it in 1080p when viewing.

All videos on YouTube have already been compressed, so I'm sure if you exported the footage directly off the dashcam to a computer, you would easily be able to zoom in and identify license plates etc.

        • @Lorindor:

You can see massive sign's are blurry , aint no compression issue when multiple videos of the same camera do the same thing.

Again, it's YouTube, so the video quality will depend on so many different factors.

        • @Lorindor:

I don't think you understand how compression and facts work.

I don't think you understand the difference in quality between an untouched video file and a video uploaded to YouTube.

I just had a look back at some footage on my SD card. I can read plates fine for cars at a reasonable distance in front of and beside me while in motion on the 850 gps model (same camera as 820).

Four lanes freeway.. hitting pause at the right times i can make out plates in front of and the lanes beside - and in many cases even two lanes across.
Obviously not ones coming other way or anything too precise, and does depend on the plate, but certainly can pick them up in spots you'd need them too.

  • Got this about 3-months ago. Works great for the most part, very good picture in 90% of conditions. At this price, i'll be telling a few mates about it. Simple to transfer footage from camera to phone through the app, or just plug the memory card into a card reader and playback files on computer. Easy to just set and forget, or if you want to remove it to keep out of sight when parked, very simple.
The only feature I haven't been able to get working (not really important to me so hasn't phased me) is the google maps box when you have the split screen of picture / live map / playback map inside the app. I've never had the map section actually load. Haven't really spent more than five mins fiddling to make it work though so could very well be something at my end.

    • how much you bought ?

    • actually scrap that sorry, I have the KPT-850, not the 820.
Isn't much difference really spec wise by the look of it, just the 850 has GPS and 820 doesn't, everything else looks the same.

  • Is this portable or fixed? Thanks

    • it clips into a stick on piece, so simply slide out and take out the connection cable and it's free. very simple.

So cannot use with multiple cars. Damm

with a tiny bit of effort you could, just get another stick on mount (my 850 came with two from memory) and don't make your hiding of the cabling too elaborate (or just get another cable) then you can simply set it up in a few seconds in any car.
