got a pop out, try code “save10” for $50 plan & below. should get a once $10 off.

  • What's the point of the once off data? It's essentially only valid for 2 months am I right?

    • should be able to rollover data to next month.

      • Yea that's what I mean. They give you an extra 10gb for the first month, which rolls over to the next month. But it stops there? Or does it keep rolling over? Previously they only allowed one months' worth of rollover.

        • Looks like its roll over once only

any unused included data (and extra data if you went into it) or value for calls & text rolls over to the next month only, can be used once the next month's inclusion has been spent and may be forfeited if you change plan.

The reason they say 'to help you set up your new phone'
The real reason - so that you get used to using far more data then you have so they can either charge you for excess or get you to upgrade your plan.

Really though 12/18/22gb are fairly good options, it'll be curious to see how much people are using in 12 months time with 1440p phones.

I'm currently quite annoyed at Virgin at the moment. A month ago they forced me off my month-to-month, $19 per month, because it was a very old plan that they were phasing out. It was 2.25g and $450 worth of calls per month. Still suited me perfectly today. Called and complain and the best they could do was move me to a $30 plan, without a 12 month lock-in and more data that what was currently being offered.

Less than a month later, this comes up. They will be getting a call from me tomorrow morning, that's for sure. Fear the Oz-Bargainer!

    • Let us know how you go - same thing happened to me

    • Me too. It was the perfect plan. But it forced me to shop around and find a better deal. I ended up moving to amaysim and grabbed one of those Groupon deals for 6 x 28 days.

      • I was same $19 plan, very happy until they terminated it. I complained to VM to no avail, and then also switched to the Amaysim Groupon deal.

    • This happened to me too! $19 plan was perfect and more than I needed! Virgin didn't care at all about losing a loyal customer of 10+ years and offered me no incentive to stay and pay more per month (was recommended the $30 pen)

I ended up switching to kogan on one of the deals posted here and am now on the equivalent of $16/month with unlimited calls and texts and 6gb data.

    • When I complained they offered me the $30 plan at $24. I didn't get in on the 2.25GB deal, so I was only getting 1.25GB for my $19.

Update: Just got off the phone with them. Sooooo, when I first spoke to them, they placed a note on my account to add 3.5gb of data per month to compensate for the forced plan change, though I had to call once the plan was in effect for it to be added.

Called today, asked for the data to be added, then asked about the current 20% off. So the deal I received in the end was $24 per month, 8.5gb data per month and the unlimited calls. Try to also get it as a month-to-month plan, but she wouldn't budge on that. I figure it's a decent enough plan to be locked in at for 12 month, as I always buy my phones outright. (Still rocking the Nexus 5)

I figure i'm ok with this outcome.

        Thoughts?

          thats good enough.

  • Stuck with them on rubbish $38 plan/contract of 24months (which will end in Feb 2018) where I got the "Samsung Galaxy S 5" that time and to mkr it bad now the screen got little crack as well (no issues in operation)

Any thoughts/tips on how can I get out of this contract? For better plans …

Well, you signed it so if it was a bad deal then you shouldn’t have taken it…..And any damage is hardly pertinent to the deal.

But to answer your question, you can cancel your contract with Virgin at any time and only pay according to what the phone is worth. e.g if the phone is worth 960 at time of signing, then the cancellation fee per month is 960/24, or $40 per month remaining. I regularly cancel my contracts with virgin to upgrade to phones early.

    • Speak to Virgin about upgrading your plan after you do some research on ne deals being offered by them and competitors.

    • They may let you sign up to a more expensive plan for another 24 months and waive the cancellation fee on your current plan.

  • Meh. I'm paying $45/month for 22GB + 300 mins international calls, and unlimited everything else with vodafone.

  • Just saw this discount now and tempted to sign up for the 12months. Currently on the old $40/10GB month-to-month (discounted $60 plan) from a while back. Was tempted to sign up to the various $45/15~18GB offers in the mean time. This one beats all those by $5 and don't even need anything special like Velocity membership.

I'm still hesitant because it is 12month deal and with the current trend of plans still looks like there is room for it to move. My current 10GB with rollover does the job for me atm; if only just.
