I just got my bill today and it’s for $49… despite having the 5gb bonus applied and apparently having the $10 credit applied too. Anyone else have a bill generated incorrectly?

  • I online chatted after extra 5gb popup appeared on the phone plan page.
Was on pre-exist expired Telstra plan and asked if could get $10mth discount and guy said no that only for non Telstra customers in T&Cs of that offer.
Then I said that I heard telstra customers have got it too… he said he'd check and couple minutes later got the Mx $49 plan for $39 +5gb/mth.
Was relatively hassle-free so gave the guy good feedback on the exit survey!

  • Seems like +5GB has disappeared from the listing

    • Appeared on mine when i logged into my account. (just now)

(offer was specific to an iPhone on a plan…not sure whether they would let me just byo ?)
Was a link from inside "my account")

      • I meant on landing page this deal links to. Yesterday it said +5GB next to the Mx plan

        • Ok interesting thanks Kev.

Wonder if it will disappear as an Ad in "my account" also.

  • I have managed to get the 15gb for $39… tried online first with no success. Then proceeded a 45 min useless phone call where the lady tried to sell me the $59 plan. Third time lucky… tried online… I had to order first and was told the extra gb and discount would be applied to my account. Downloaded the transcript just in case.

  • Managed to apply for this too earlier in the week, thanks OP. Didn't get a link to download the transcript though. I had to port in my amaysim number to secure the deal…

  • I ported to this on Thursday but due to some error it didn't go through.
Did a 24x7 chat today and they fixed it and gave me 20GB of data instead of 15GB, pretty happy about that!

I online chatted after extra 5gb popup appeared on the phone plan page.
Got old Mate Dipin, Said I was after a $40 plan with good data, offered me the MX $49 Plan with 10 GB
I asked if that Has the 5GB bonus with it, said he could get it for me
Then said I have heard about $10 Off, said he could get it for me
Set me a link to place the order normally for the MX and then send him the order number to apply the discount and offer

  • I was able to get this today by staying on the page advertising the Mx deal, and then mentioning optus' 40$ 15gb deal

    Deal is still live!

I just got it via chat on the Telstra website. Referenced Optus' deal for 5gb bonus than asked for $10 off.

Had to clear cookies and click around the BYO deal section of the website to get a chat agent who would help.

    • Where could I find this BYO deal section?

    • Don't worry, got it done. Just leave the window open longer till that 5GB window pops up. LOL

    • The deal still there. I didn't even mention anything about Optus and 5Gb. Just said I want the 5Gb and +$10 discount.

      ==========
Telstra Livechat: Good news for you.
Telstra Livechat: You'll get the $10 discount + 5GB bonus data every month along with Mx plan. If you place the order online now.

I end up signing up along with an extra data share sim card. Overall this was a hassle free sign up. :)

      How cooling-off periods work
The Australian Consumer Law gives consumers who enter into an unsolicited contract, the right to cancel the contract within a ‘cooling-off’ period.

Contracts which have been initiated by a service provider over the phone such as a telemarketing call or at a location other than the provider’s place of business (for example, a door-to-door sale or being approached in a public place such as a shopping centre) are generally subject to a cooling-off period. Cooling-off periods do not apply where a consumer visits a provider’s store, calls to request a service or orders a service online. The purpose of a cooling-off period is to protect a consumer from being bound by an unsolicited contract that does not fit their needs, by giving them time to reassess and cancel the contract if necessary.

The cooling-off period for individuals is 10 business days. This period starts:

for sales made over the phone: the day after a consumer receives a written copy of the contract.
for sales made in person: the day after the agreement is made.
The consumer can cancel the contract for any reason during the 10 business days. The consumer needs to take note of how they can cancel the contract, which sometimes involves mailing a written cancellation letter to the provider.

  • wonderful thankyou i thought there was a 10 day cooling off period!

  • late to the party. But got it without any trouble just now.

"Yes we are giving $10 dicount on Mx plan and 5GB bonus data on our promotion period till life time of your contract."

  • any international call allowance on this 39?

  • i easily got $39/month 15gb data unlimited calls/text when i asked them to match the equivalent optus sim only deal

  • With 4 attempts, I was able to get the deal over online chat.

If the negotiation is successful, be sure to obtain a reference number prior to ending the chat.

The online chat consultant were happy to give me the deal within 20 seconds and advised me to print the transcript and visit the store to finalise everything.

Long story short, the store could not apply the discount. It requires 3 phone calls, 2 hours in total to get it across the line.

  • Husband was just able to get this offer over chat too

  • Well got an interesting response trying to sign my parter up this afternoon!

My partner was able to sign up on the $49 plan however with a bonus 5GB (15GB total) and a $10 monthly discount so it was $39 a month. The order number was 1-XXXXX

yes I understand that there are customers got that invalid offers. My colleague that was able to give that is currently under investigation. We are now on the process of correcting this information accross all departments. I hope you understand that in giving offers we should follow our guidelines as well so that we can keep our jobs. yes, we do have additional data if you have a mulitple service

Kristofer John at 15:20, Nov 7:
Thank you so much for understanding and I hope that you wont take it against me

  • Just had a successful online chat with Garima Ramdev. Really friendly and patient through the whole process.
Straight away he/she offered me the $10 off plus extra 5GB data.
I tried squeezing a little more thanks to the Optus 25% click frenzy, but had no luck with that. I didn't mind, as I was happy to get the $39/15GB locked in.

I was assured that the 'special offer' details would appear in my account in the next 24-48 hours, and I was advised to save the chat transcript as an extra backup.
Hopefully all will be smooth sailing from here!

I just joined up. I did it first online and then found that the email I received did not reflect the deal at all. I spent an hour speaking to Telstra to sort it out.
Joined up Monday should have waited for Optus deal seemed cheaper, easier and less traumatic.
If you do get this deal then make sure the online consultant gives you an employee number. Don't proceed until you get it. Also a record of the chat.

    • definitely always email the log of the chat once its all done, telstra staff are notorious when it comes to recontracting you but not applying the discounts/offers

  • Thanks for sharing. I got the $39/15GB without any issues whatsoever. Just said a friend of mine got it Friday. I was upgrading from the old $39 Staff Plan so I'm paying the same and getting a lot more data and unlimited calls.
