They are only short of making rockets 🚀 now

    • +1

      after rockets, then making babies

    • Fun fact: China recently developed the technology to make a ballpoint pen completely on home soil. This involved being able to manufacturer a ballbearing smooth enough and a casing hard enough to work as the tip, a job they relied on Switzerland and Germany to do until now. Now they have the technology to achieve this precision and steel hardness themselves, they are indeed only a small step away from their own rockets.

price in china is AUD 25 so i think better wait. suspect this is just recently released therefore many sellers are marking this up excessively.

after few month should be AUD 28-30ish i hope.
for example, nowadays we can buy xiaomi powerbanks at almost the same as the price in china.

    • +1

Sure, I could wait….but I don't want to risk me or loved ones dying from an undetected fever!! :D

      • +3

Just put your hand on your loved ones. You'll know if they are sick or just pretending.

        hand on forehead….

        • +1

Lips on the back of the neck will give a more accurate reading.

          @stormii: im shivering already

    • Thanks mate appreciate the recon.

  • Are these safe for internal use?

    • +5

      You are using it wrong

      • uh, don't wanna know

        • Wash between uses. Fine.

    • Measuring position: forehead
      Measuring distance: 3cm and less

I guess you could measure from 3cm (or less) from the forehead inside the head, but that might hurt a lot.

    • umm…its a laser.

      • There's no laser involved, it just measures infrared light emitted by the subject being measured.

        • IR is not laser? I see there are IR Lasers, but is this not the same thing? Does a laser always need to have a visible light spectrum? Or this is just a sensor?

        • +1

@stormii: This is just a sensor - it does not emit anything. Objects emit black-body radiation which this can measure. I'm not sure what the emissivity is set to though… accuracy will depend on what it has been set to at the factory.

A laser is just a cohrent light source (i.e. only one wavelength is emitted) which can be IR, red light, green light, etc.

        • +1

@eug: Thankyou so much, when I googled it the info was overwhelming.

        • +1

@stormii: Ahh yes it certainly can be overwhelming! One more thing, some IR thermometers have a laser pointer attached that's used to help you aim the thermometer. The laser isn't actually used to measure anything, it just lets you know where it's pointed at. This one doesn't have a laser pointer attached.

        • @eug: TIL: a lot.

I wonder how accurate these are. I would be hesitant to use on a baby unless I was sure.

    • Spend ya dough on a Braun Thermoscan, not cheap but 10 years later its one purchase I'd make again without hesitation!

    • accuracy is stated as +/- 0.2 degrees centigrade

      • +3

Manufacturers state many things - lumens, candlelight, mAH, anyone?

      • -1

I've not used this particular model, but my experience with others around this price point that claim similar accuracy is that they must have been rated by the same lab that measures Chinese lumens in cheap torches.

        • +1

Dunno, xiaomi might be different though. Looking at their other stuff, you'd normally expect crap but you usually get pretty good quality for the price.

    • I use an infrared thermometer and I find it to be pretty accurate as long as you follow the instructions and point it 3cm from the center of the forehead. If you don't, your readings can be all over the place. I think the main reason why people discourage people from using them on their babies is that people don't use them properly and freak out when they get a high reading.

I have an in ear one as well and only use it if the infrared one has given a high reading.

    • ^ That is what I want to know too, we bought one from local pharm ( Vick brand ) and its reading was all over the place. I went on productpreview site to read about it and it turn out a lots of people had same issue …

      • I would highly recommend the Braun Thermoscan. It has a two year warranty so when our toddler dropped it, we sent it to Melbourne and they sent us a new one.

You tend to see doctors use these so thats extra confidence.

        • Thanks Im looking into it.

  • I posted this in the comments of the deal 2 days ago - OP didn't decide to update…Silly OP

This seems pretty expensive.. You can get it from Banggood for $26.93 USD / $34.46 AUD using MIDFT27?

Sorry but have to neg for that reason.

    • yeah baby.. down down keep going down, everyday lower prices emerged.
      ill wait next week then

      thanks

    • Thanks - I've updated the post with this info. I believe the shipping time is different so not exactly the same deal.

      • Still works out cheaper if you choose the priority option from Banggood :) US$30.84 with 6-9 days shipping, and I've found BG's shipping way more reliable.

    • No you cant code doesn't work

    • This coupon is not available for limited offer products
