So does this have to be in one shop or can it be spread through the weekm?

As per title and description, you have to spend min. $50 each week for 4 weeks.

Also does a Woolworths petrol work?

Only Woolworths supermarkets, Woolworths Metro and Woolworths online (in all cases excluding Tasmania).

      • Thanks so with further reading it is indeed 50$ or more in one shop.
"Just spend $50* or more in one shop each week for the next 4 weeks for a Google Home Mini or 6000 bonus points. Starts tomorrow!"
OP maybe you can update the post?.

        • +1

If you are targeted carefully read the conditions. I was caught out with a previous promo when I spent the amount over a couple of shops during the week only to find it had to be in one shop, so it didn't qualify. The offers are all different.
I got: Just spend $80* or more in one shop each week for the next 4 weeks.
Daughter got: Spend $120* or more in as many shops as you like each week for 4 weeks.

        • +1

Think offer varies between one shop or across more than one shop. Mine is $140 across one or more shops and partners is $50 in one shop only. So need to read individual offer carefully.

  • Dam was really looking at picking up the mini, but didn't recieve an offer :S

    • +1

      Me either

      • Me either. But I hadn't scanned my card in months either.

        • We shop every week so it may be they're only sending those who barely use it

        • @Lunchguy: I shop multiple times a week and always scan my card. Looks like the offers are being rolled out slowly.

        • +2

          Me neither

  • $150 a week for me :(

  • No offer here. :(

  • Odd, I always seem to get the promotions even though I only use my card about once a week spending ~$30. I checked my wife's account and shes setup to receive the promotions and never gets the emails.

  • +2

$20 a week for me don't want to spend so much for a google home as I don't even need one.

    • +2

You aren't alone in not needing Google Home. But we are probably few.

Don't really want what I say in private uploaded to the Cloud. "Google turn on my favourite porn…"😁

I live alone in a house at present, so talking to myself seems a bit strange. Might start doing that outside the house… Next I'll be bringing home stray cats!

Plus I need the exercise of pushing buttons according to my doctors.

Unlike most, I don't have WiFi at home, only using internet on my phone. I'm cheap. That makes home automation more difficult.

Poorer speaker & microphones than Google Home are biggest issues according to reviews.

Of course I base all my Google Home knowledge on the recent Southpark episode 😀

I'd rather get out of the house & talk with humans!

      • +1

The issue for me with Google is they're a business that survives by collecting every single piece of data it can about you in order to manipulate you into spending more money without your knowledge by selling your attention to other businesses.

This happens unconsciously without your knowledge. Despite this large numbers of people claim that they are immune to it.

        • Yeah, if camping ads start showing up after I've finished talking with my wife about our plans for the weekend.. I'll be binning the device.

        • +2

          @Name:
For most of us, the camping ads wouldn't be the issue😀

But is something to consider when that happens now in Chrome.

I might no longer own the rights to my fart concerto😱

  • I checked online and didn't get the offer yet…it's a good deal if u r regularly going to woolies to buy stuff..if it's $50/week otherwise it's best to wait….it seems Google wants to push minis down everyone's throat lol

    • it was sent to my gmail account, under promotions tab.

  • targeted? i didnt get this offer… how do i activate?

    • Login > My Account > Communications > Woolworths Rewards & Partners and check Exclusive offers and promotions

      • My boxes are all ticked but I haven't got any offer either :(

      • yeah these are all ticked but no offer :(

  • +4

In terms of promotions I find that Coles consistently outperform Woolies. I am currently 2 weeks into a 4 week promotion; spend $50 a week and get 10,000 points ($50) - beats Woolies $30.

    • Google home mini costs $80

      • Good point, except that I don't want a Google Mini.

    • I've got Woolies instant $5 off $30 last week, $10 off $40 by today, & $15 off $50 next week (on each of 6 cards). So $30 cash off lower $120 spend over 3 weeks. These are regular offers.

Advantage is you don't need to spend in first week to unlock second week etc as Coles does. So can spent $35 for $50 groceries next week. It's better to have cash in pocket rather than spend for 4 weeks to get bonus points only to spend at Coles etc.

Am half way through Coles $50 off 4 $50 spends… So much shopping😱

      • How do u keep track having 6 accounts?

        • +1

That was just the accounts with that offer… None of those cards have this offer.

I don't keep track. I only use a card if there is an offer with it. Only activate an offer if I may use it. So just pick best offer.

Almost no value in scanning card for straight points, so don't. Each card may be used only every few months. That's probably why I get so many offers to keep me coming back

    • +1

Yups…some here, already committed to Coles $50 spend, woolworths offering $50 too. I usually buy the non-perishables at large quantities at dual attractive promotions between coles/wools. Usually there’s a long dry spell between them.

Already thinking of putting this Mini on ebay asap, so the return will be better than $30…but there may be a glut of them in a month’s time, so might wait back a little. If I wanted this mini I’ll be waiting till this promotion ends, and checking gumtree/ebay/etc.

    • I ignored that Coles spend $120 for four week deal and the following week (this current week) I got a spend $80 for two week to get 4000 points ($20).
I now have to manage spending $80 in Coles next week and also start my $50 for four week deal at Woolworths.
One thing that Coles needs to do is to allow multiple purchases like Woolworths. I like buying my food fresh and being forced to spend all in one day means I need to factor in potential frozen meals towards the end of the week.

  • I've never had an email account attached to my Rewards account. I've now just added one. Any chance I'll get to see this offer?

    • Read above replies, you have to set your account to accept promos.

And no, you won't get this offer, only future ones.

    • Might be lucky if quick, as I received offer 30 minutes ago - so offer still being sent out.

      • Apparently not. The online chat guy explained that this offer is not targeted for my account. Wonder what the formula is for targetting?

        • Marketing basics: Spending patterns & amounts. I am almost always targeted & at the lowest value spend by Woolies.
Having multiple cards gives some idea of targeting. I play their game.

        • +1

@Infidel: I figured that, just wondered what the formula actually was, but understand I'll never know.

The interesting point is, not getting the offer makes we want to shop there less - both as a protest, and in the hope that if I shop there less maybe they'll give me more attractive offers!

        • @ryangus:
Most people don't know what others are offered, so resentment is minimal. Shopping habits become habituated so we return next week to same supermarket. That's what they want by offering multiple week offers.

OzBargainers share too much - Woolies marketing wouldn't like that.

Don't think the Formula for loyalty offers would be sophisticated. I think it relies on hope that it works. And offers are often to counter the opposition offers.

  • Def targeted, my wife got one as she rarely uses her rewards card and I didnt as I use my rewards card all the time, thanks OP.

  • Does buying gift cards qualify as spending?

    • +1

      No.

    • +6

Gift cards used to qualify until Woolworths were alerted to it by a comment on a certain website. Loose lips sink ships (and loopholes).

  • My offer finally arrived 30 minutes ago: "Spend $100* or more in as many shops as you like each week for 4 weeks for a Google Home Mini or 10,000 bonus points."

  • Must be randomly generated for each person. Mine is $130+ per week or 12,000 points.

        Username checks out😁

    • Why do all the posts pointing out the privacy issues with this and similar device get down-voted?

The link is real, is providing a real story about a big privacy issue and people seem to not care.

      • Because they are working for does organisations, privacy doesn't exist the moment you have decided to have any type of interaction with the outer world, being physical, or virtual such as internet. There's always at least one pair of eyes somewhere looking what you're doing.

And if you read the article, it points out that it's all just a simple mistake and misunderstanding, Google "accidentally" spies on its consumer and once they've been caught at it, they simply "fixed" it with an update. Sorry, we're not sorry.

      • The link is real and it's a waste of time reading it. It's only interesting if you already got your tin toil hat on, in which case you'll believe whatever you wanted to believe anyway. There were follow up article the follow days which include https://www.tomsguide.com/us/google-home-mini-touch,news-259…

That device in the article was faulty, possibly because it was used in a way which would've killed the device and a feature is now killed to make sure it won't ever happen again. It wasn't secretly recording, the device lights up every time it's listening and there's an audit trail of what's happening for the sake of transparency. The best explanation I've heard online is putting fabric on top of a capacitive sensor in a humid room will, 1 - kill your device, 2 - trigger false touches until it happens. If the NSA wanted to learning in on you it'll be easier to hack a non google device in your home.

Listening in on everything all the time isn't cheap and is useless for a company like Google.

  • Mine is $130+ per week or 12,000 points.

  • Im tired of woolworths asking to spend so much extra for so little reward. Why dont they just make everyday prices lower… you knoe how much they make by the fact that specials are 50% off.

  • I haven't received any offer and I am a regular shopper.

    • +3

I'm pretty sure they give out better offers to people who don't shop regularly…

    • Woolies strategy is to turn infrequent shoppers into regular shoppers.
They're training people to only shop at Woolies & do it each week.
Amount of spending required in targeted offer reflects level of past spending - to encourage all spending to be at Woolies.
      Basic marketing.

  • $130 for 4 weeks, 12000 points or Home Mini

  • haven't receive any email for this promo.

  • I have $90 a week or 8000 points

  • How to check what offer I have at the moment?

    • +1

Your Offers tab in your Rewards account, but you should have received an email if you were targeted.

  • spend $70 in 2 weeks for 6000 points. thats not that bad.

  • +1

I spend an average of around $1000 per month at Woolworths. The only offer I got is a measly triple points for every shop next week. So much for their customer 'loyalty' program…

    • +4

You don't think loyalty programs are for you, do you? If you are already loyal, they don't have to worry about attracting you to spend.

      • I'm no longer loyal. Just did my weekly shop at Coles as a protest. Think I actually prefer the local Coles now anyway.

        • +3

Somehow I don't think Woolies or Coles noticed ;-)
They're both in it for the long game of mass consumers, not individuals.

    • Wow with $1000 spend on groceries I'll be flying business class domestic flights every second months.

  • Just got off online chat with Woolies as they had the wrong email address down for us. i asked if we had misssed the email and was told that we didnt recieve the email/promotion. i asked how people are chosen and he replied that it was random.

    • Doubt it is random. It's just easier to say that. Woolies sends offers to people it hopes will become loyal shoppers each week. Once you are loyal to Woolies, there is little benefit in these offers to Woolies.

      • Doubt it is random.

Same here, wouldn't be in their interests to make it random, rather they target people to get them to shop.

        • Very Pavlovian🐕

Will Woolies have access to what we say to Google Home??
Last week you said you loved the lamb roast from Woolies… And had sex for 42 seconds afterwards😱

        • +1

          @Infidel:

I dated a Pavlovian girl once, think Eastern European but tastier.

Last week you said you loved the lamb roast from Woolies… And had sex for 42 seconds afterwards

This technology is still in its infancy, what I actually said was: I love having sex with wooly lambs.

        • @Scab:
          ROFL😱
That sort of talk would destroy the algorithm.

  • +1

Mine is spend $60 and 6,500 points. I struggle to spend $50 at Coles for four weeks (I've just finished Week 2 shop). So don't know how I could do a $50 shop at Coles and $60 at Woolworths. Impossible.

    • +1

That's why it is offered at the moment - to wean you off Coles. For some the offer will be attractive enough to stop the spend at Coles & come across to Woolies for 4 weeks.

      • I find Coles FlyBuys points better value to be honest and easier to get compared to Woolworths which is why I'm sticking to Coles. I go over to Woolworths to get a few things on special that I want, but that's about it. My history must show this. If only they made it so it was $50, I would consider. But $60 is $240 over four weeks, where $50 would only be $200. Not so bad.

        • If offers alternated between Coles & Woolies we would just keep swapping with the offers - no loyalty to the store, which they want.

Different offers are available. Currently have Woolies offers of instant $10 off $40 this week & $15 off $50 next week on multiple cards. Was instant $5 off $30 last week but didn't bother.

Woolies offer is better as you don't have to shop for multiple weeks to get offer, just the best week offered ($15 cash off $50 groceries). Better for smaller buys. And no wait for points - instant cash off spend.

So shop by best offer - currently shopping both Woolies instant discounts & Coles $50 points for 4 $50 shops. Handy to have a few cards to choose best offer!

      • That's why it is offered at the moment - to wean you off Coles.

I'd shop more at Woolies if they didn't have such a crappy website, it hurts my brain trying to use it.

I've actually closed the page on several big online shops with them because I just couldn't handle how clunky it is, Coles' website is infinitely better.

        • +1

My brain hurts ordering groceries online irrespective of store. Plus too many stuffed up orders by both stores.

I only order online if there is a far better discount.

Woolies include more of deli items than paid for (up to 10% more), whereas Coles charge weighed price of ordered items. Once was given 1kg extra smoked salmon by Woolies when ordering 1kg at really good price! I've eaten a lot of free smoked salmon from Woolies😁

  • Any suggestions that I can spend $50 per week for 4 weeks? I only live with my partner and we normally don’t spend more than $30 per week.

    • +3

Just buy the stuff you normally would that doesn't have an expiry and is on sale.

I usually buy toilet paper, canned goods and things like sugar and soft drink in bulk to make up the amount.

  • $130 weekly for 12000 or Google mini??….easier to just buy one

  • Alright just receive spend 50x4 weeks to get google home. Mini or 6k points.

It is worth to do this to get Google home mini? Does it works well in Australia now? Why we need it if we can just use our Android phone talks with Google?

  • +1

Once had a good woolies promo offer but in the last week I just couldn't find $100 worth of shopping to do.

Bought one of the woolies coffee machines for $100, successfully putting me over the line, then returned it the next day. I'd like to say I'm not proud of it but really I am.
