      • The new customer only applies to the 30 day plans, the rest are for new or existing according to the fine print at https://www.koganmobile.com.au/plans/mobile/

As you are currently with Vodafone then you may want to check first what's the best/safest way to do it. Might be easier to port to another carrier first via a cheap PAYG sim (eg $2 Telstra from likes of Officeworks), before switching to the 30 day plan then later applying the 365 day voucher…..

        • Thanks mate. I'm just curious why porting within Vodafone network is harder than porting out another network and come back in? And normally how long does it take for the whole port out and port in things? Cheers.

        • @roonaqdai: It should work, but you're not porting carriers as such. I've heard in the past it's easier to actually port to another carrier (Optus or Telstra) first. This isn't a voda/Kogan thing - same for example going from Optus to Virgin or Telstra to Boost. They are getting a lot better at this so it's quite possible that it's not an issue now.

Time to port can vary - I've heard it take 24 hours but that was in the bad old days. Now they say allow a few hours. Last few times I've done it, the switch happened whilst I was on the phone (a different one!) arranging it.

        • @PlasticSpaceman: Thanks for your reply mate. I've once port from Virgin to Optus and received my service activated within 3 hours. Hopefully Vodafone could handle it well as Optus did.

        • [@roonaqdai] I ported form vodaphone to kogan and it was done pretty quick

Just recharge the 16gb for 1 year and it takes effect immediately no matter the fact that I still have 2 months for the current plan to be expired. How can I cool off?

    • +3

contact support, should be able to refund you difference, with the 1 year taking effect from here on.

    • -1

I had a similar bad experience. Once you recharge they will erase all existing credits you have and the 1 year will count from the date of recharge. I wrote in to Kogan and they said this was the way it worked. I then searched their prepaid plan details and found they did mention it. This is very bad business practice and I feel cheated. There should at least be a warning during recharge.

      • contact support, i did this last recharge for the same reason and they added credit to extend it out of good will .. but something to remember in the future as they wont fix my mistake again .. not the best set up, but it is what it is, that is why these vouchers are good as you can recharge later

  • I know it does not include any international calls. Anybody knows app or company I can use Europe? Found toolani.com for making these international calls. Wondering if anybody know any other reliable apps or companies to use.

Currently with lebara and my plan include $5 international calls credit but looking to switch to kogan and reduce my monthly bill. I cant use Viber, Skype etc because I am calling my elderly mother and she doesnt have these apps, so only mobile to mobile calls.

    Thanks for any suggestions:)

    • +1

Skype? Take advantage of the 50% of credit at supermarkets sometimes.

      • Which stores have it for 50%? I haven't seen it recently.

        • Woolies/Coles. Haven't seen it for 50% for a while either, I think the best recently has been 40%

    • +1

There's an app on Android called MobileVOIP. DOwnload that and register with any of the 20 odd services that use that app. You can choose a service that has the lowest call rates for your country. I pay $0.008 to call the UK or $0.014 to call US per min. There's also a flag-fall, but that varies.

      • Thanks a lot, I ll have a look.

      • Out of curiosity, what's the advantage of that app over something like Skype? Cheaper?

        • Not all people have Skype on their phone.I use it because my mum doesn't have smartphone and can call her mobile cheaper with this app.

        • @Kennard:

But Skype can make calls to phone numbers as well and not only people with Skype accounts. So this would only be advantageous if:

          • it's cheaper
          • it offers a better service/other useful features

Otherwise you're having to sign up for another account/download another app

        • @illumination:

For me it is cheaper. SkypeOut - 26cents per min , MegaVoip 2 cents per minute

        • @Kennard:

Ah wow huge difference! Nice one and that makes a lot of sense then

    • Keepcalling.com

They have local dial in numbers or use the app.
Credit doesn't expire. Rates to most countries are good.

      • Yes, I tried them and they are good. Currently I use MegaVoip, very good rates, $0.02 to call Europe.

  • +1

Was it just me who was a bit confused by the title 'unlimited'and still had the GB usage. You may want to include unlimited 'calls'

    • Seems to be the standard naming convention nowadays, e.g. I'm on the Amaysim "Unlimited 2GB" plan.

  • +1

Now we just need a deal on discounted Kogan cards from one of the Supermarkets.
    Good deal EC

  • When the deal is finishing?

    • 31/12/17 but voucher expires 31/1/18

  • would buy iphoneX + kogan sim, be better off than sign up contract with optus/telstra for the new phone? u'll probably be 200-400$ off, anyone agree?

    • Those plans probably include other perks like international calls/roaming/EPL streaming or similar/unlimited music streaming/data rollover/pooling etc. If you don't need those features then yeah definitely save big by going Kogan.

  • Is it account protected?
as in can I buy for my wife and she activates on for her phone?

    • Who buys the sim do not need to be person it needs to be activated under.

easternculture Thank you for the post — from my kids who got upgraded to 6GB per month

from me: every time I see them on the phone messaging.. I'll be yelling at you!

  • +2

They have increased the price by over 20%, for example last year the deal was Kogan Mobile Voucher Code: SMALL (365 Days | 1GB Per 30 Days) at $125.93

    • +1

and they upped the data by 50% sometime ago to existing customers and gave 2GB free for their 2nd birthday too..

  • +1

My plan ends the exact day this coupon expires. Many thanks. :)

Don't forget that if you order Domino's, you get a $30 kogan voucher. Just bought the 11gb for $224.3, which works out to $18.7 per month.

    • +1

      link?

      • You need to order Domino's, and can opt in to receive a $30 voucher with $120 minimum spend. The voucher is unique and gets emailed to you.

        • +2

If you order Domino's, you might get a prize draw thing instead. When it comes up, click back, and 3/10 times it'll switch to kogan.

  • Someone pointed out that voda don't have support for band 28 until April next year. I use amaysim for my main, and I always get 1 to 2 bars Better reception, on optus. So I guess this deal gets better in 5 or 6 months. Great….

  • must resist

  • Thanks easternculture :)

So my current Kogan Mobile plan expires late January 2018 (ie: I got the 365-day deal back in Jan 2017). Wondering if I should (or can) purchase another 365-day plan now, and not activate it until late Jan 2018 (ie: so it runs through to late Jan 2019)?

    • +1

Yes.. this is a voucher that does not expire until 31/01/2018 .. so buy it now while it is on sale and use the voucher to recharge when your plan expires (remembering that the recharge does not add days to your current recharge but overrides it from that day)

      • +2

        Perfect, thanks subboy!

I ordered the $4.95 16GB unlimited sim a week or 2 ago to try out Kogan. I then saw this deal and bought the 6GB unlimited deal for $205. I am trying to work out if I can use the 16GB sim for the first month and then continue with the 6GB yearly plan on the 16GB plan's sim (not using the sim that comes for the yearly deal). If I port from Optus to the 16GB sim can I then somehow apply the 6GB yearly plan to the same sim so that I keep my number??? Not sure how Kogan handles all this.

    • +1

yes you can absolutely do that. the 365 plan is a recharge voucher that can apply to your 16gb sim once it expires :) Make sure you have disabled auto-topup. The sim that comes with the 365 plan you can disregard (or keep for future purposes jic).

  • To all the Kogan mobile users

Do you find that you are using data a lot faster than your previous or other carriers? (Based on similar usage)

I am thinking to sign up and saw this:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4228869/redir

And then i go and check their plan's CRITICAL INFORMATION SUMMARY, and it says "Data sessions are rounded to the nearest KB" so i think should be fine??

    • Rounding to the KB is industry standard.

  • I haven't noticed anything here, although their app is weird and shows some data sessions in MB and some in KB for some reason. After coming from Vaya for $18 a month for 1.5 GB to Kogan for cheaper and 6GB a month it makes such a difference in how much more relaxed you can be with browsing / spotify / google maps / YouTube videos etc. and not have to keep an eye on it as much as previously.

I have a $30 off Kogan Coupon Code, I would like to give away free. Minimum Spend is $120. Code expires tonight at 11:59PM 31 October, 2017. PM me if you need it to buy anything tonight from kogan. Please remember Minimum Spend is $120 to use this code.

    • This is now finished.

  • This is a excellent price for the 1.5gb. Back in March I paid $123 for 1gb ($10.25 per month) for 1 year, 1.5gb deal works out to be $12.68 per month, with half more data.

    • +1

I agree and I was offered $20 credit by Kogan so only $11 a month for me :)

  • Just bought another year for my daughter @$132.10. Kogan offered $20 credit As her plan expires in December we will be right on time for another 12 months. She would have liked the 6gb,but as i am trying to cut her time on devices that would had made no sense so opted for the smaller plan.

    • How did you get the $20 offer?

      • It was automatic for the account that I don’t use much (it was going to expire on 6th of November if unused)

  • +1

This is an awesome bargain, around $21/month for 11Gb, score!

  • So do these plans have some sort of option to stop using data before or after you have reached your maximum plan data to prevent bill shock and going over your data limit?

Knowing how easy sometimes it can be for your mobile to eat up data I am trying to find a new plan that can so this, stop data usage after a certain amount or ration some per day etc.

    • So do these plans have some sort of option to stop using data before
or after you have reached your maximum plan data to prevent bill shock and going over
      your data limit?

      Yes.

      It just stops working.

      • Awesome cheers thanks.

This feature or functionality is what I am most looking for besides international calls but I can live without it.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" tablet which is capable of both making and receiving calls, and sending/receiving texts. I purchased the data pack for tablets from Kogan, and whilst I can receive texts/calls, I can not make them. Would purchasing this mobile vouchers enable me to make those calls/texts from my tablet? Confirmation would be appreciated.

    • Yes.

  • I am struggling to apply the voucher code to my existing account. When I go to recharge and enter the code and click recharge it takes me to step 2 but keeps getting stuck there!

  • Can you pay by kogan gift cards?

    • yup

  • Looking at the 6gb $205.60 is there anything else that might be better?

Between 3-4gb would be ideal for my use case scenario but no other mobile plans stop your data usage when you hit the limit as far as I know and this is a very important feature for me as sometimes GPS and general web browsing can hit you with unexpected data downloads and costs.

I think this might be the one for me for next year.

  • VG deal

  • I am an existing customer. Just order 1 x 1.5GB 365 days. Got the voucher from email. Email advised sim card will be shipped 1-3 days. Just wonder if I can use the voucher code on the current sim card. If so, how?

    • sorry, just realised the code is the confirmation code, not voucher code, in the order confirmation email. I suspect the voucher code will be delivered along with the sim card.

      • +1

voucher code comes via email not along with the sim. and yes you can use the voucher to recharge on your existing. but I believe the new 365 will take over and not extend your current one.

  • these type of unlimited calls plans around $10 are great for people who not require internet…i have 3 people asking me watch out for these type of plan. One household got rid of their homephone and considering Mobile.

  • i told my relative about this plan and they are shock how cheap it is..they only want Unlimited Calls in Australia. You won't believe how many people unaware these cheap plans always for Unlimited Calls+1gb+ for net around $10-$12.

  • I think I had a pretty good run last year on this deal. Vodafone fine for me everywhere in Brisbane

  • This deal has been bumped up, 11gb is now 16 and 16 is now 23.

    • Wow. Damn no love for the 6gb one though :(

      • 6gb to 16gb is probs worth the extra $50 over the year though.

I'd feel sorry for anyone on the fence between 6 and 11 and chose 6. Hope they can upgrade…

        • yeah for sure. i got it a few months ago when it was only 5GB. but yeah it's weird that they disregarded the 6gb one. i mean even the 1.5gb one got bumped.

  • this is so cheap…. :< im moving to it asap

  • +1

My plan expires 28 Feb 2018. This deal is up to 31 Jan 2018. I don't want to override my existing plan.

How often does Kogan do these specials?

Hoping a deal comes up in Jan or Feb 2018

    • Last time I recall the one year deals was this time last year. Even if you lose a month, you'll still come.out ahead overall (I imagine)

    • Also, my voucher I bought yesterday expires on the 28th of Feb :D

    • +1

My plan expires 28 Feb 2018.

I just got my voucher for the 365 day 23GB plan and the email says "Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 28/02/2018" so this is perfect for you (newbie12345), just purchase before 31 Jan 2018 and use the voucher before 11:59pm AEST on 28/02/2018.

  • Anybody have a $30 off $120 code or similar they're not going to use :)

  • If anyone has a Kogan credit code and not planning to use it, could you please PM me?

  • Does anyone know if the current "$50 off $120 spend" Kogan vouchers going on eBay can be used in conjunction with this offer?

  • +1

im struggling to use more than 10GB on my 16GB plan. any suggestion? not streaming p*rn please cant do it on the train full of people. unless it is a normal thing to do maybe in the future

  • Voucher expire on 31st? If you brought it on 30th and sims along with voucher havent send it..what happen? I believe deal expire on 31st and amount of period to account activate it..?

  • +1

Could stack with kogan vouchers from eBay if you want it cheaper
    here

    • +1

Thanks for the tip. Bought vouchers from eBay and used $10 referral bonus from here. Total cost for 365 small plan $99

  • Will these SIMs work in an unlocked and Vodafone network compatible wifi device/dongle for just data only use (not the voice)?

  • 16gb plan sold out :( will this come back?
