        yea, you're prob right.

        Thanks.

    • +7

Don't be sour just because you're not included. I tell my friends about promos I know they're eligible for even though I'm not.

    • +1

Why would they? This is to entice people not using it to do so. It makes no sense for them to give existing users money, they're not getting anything out of it.

    • its almost like the whole point of the promotion is to increase usage from those who dont already use it and not reward people for using it.
      different goals

  • Why can't I add my card to android pay ? I have a credit master card and a visa debit card but android pay says they are not compatible. I use tap and pay service of comm bank without any issue.
My phone is Moto z force. Android 7.1
Edit - it's working. Looks like they enabled it today because it wasn't working yesterday. Updated the android pay app and it's working now.

  • Download commbank app.
    Will use it today.

Can't work out how to make my commbank app as default over Android pay.
So I removed the Android pay card

    • +3

go to connections then NFC, then tap and pay, you can change the default there

      • The option is set to default pay app even if others are open. You can change that and use open the CBA app to use it.

  • how do I know when was the last time I used tap and pay within CBA app? such a pain in the neck that I don't use it unless fated to.

    • +2

Look back at your transaction record for the past 90 days. It would say "Tap and Pay xx1234" if you paid with the App.

  • I've been using the app for ages, but never Tap and pay. Even now I can't find it. Can anyone please clarify where the option is? I got the Android app. Thanks.

    • Does your phone have NFC?

      • +1

        Nope. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

        • +3

Then you can't use Tap and Pay/Android Pay, since it requires a NFC Enable Device.

        • @RichardL:
          Fair enough, thanks.

        • How great is this phone?

        • @illumination:

Well, having in mind that I would never have used that option without this promotion (as I haven't so far), pretty good if you ask me.

  • Is there a way to know if your transaction went through and you will receive the cash back?

    • +2
      1. Claimants, if they are a winner, will be notified via a push notification or SMS on their device.
    • +2

From terms and conditions: A claim will be deemed received only once the third eligible tap & pay transaction is completed.. Claimants, if they are a winner, will be notified via a push notification or SMS on their device. The winning claimants account will be credited with the cash back within ten (10) business days of the Promoter receiving their complete and valid claim.

  • +2

omfg I used it for the first time yesterday on my new Note 8…

  • Also how long do you think this will last? I think 30,000 transactions are not that much

    • +4

I think it will last longer then you think. Considering that the large people that uses the Commbank App and has a NFC enable device would have already used Tap and Pay within the last 90 days, so therefore not eligible for this promotion.

    • this hasn't been widely advertised i never even knew CBA had android pay until today.

  • I got CDIA account with CBA for many years which it comes with Eftpos card. Can I use this card on Comm App?

    • Did you have the optional CBA Direct MasterCard?

If so, then you should be able to use the app.

      • thanks! I am not able to use it anyway coz Transactions made via iOS Pay Tag are not eligible for this promotion.

    • Valid cards are listed in the OP

  • I have their reward credit card and a debit card for the transaction account, does that mean I can claim 2x $20?

    • +2

I'm assuming since they are different account/card you should be able to claim it once on each account.

    • +1

I don't think so: Only one (1) claim is permitted per person. In the event that a clamant uses multiple CommBank MasterCard debit and/or credit cards to make the eligible tap & pay transactions, their cash back will be awarded to the CommBank MasterCard debit and/or credit card that is used to make their third eligible tap & pay transaction.

  • Chupa Chups for everyone!

  • So if I bought three pack chips, I pay each separately with Andriod Pay and I get $20 cash back…. mmmmm sounds nice

  • So I've used the Commbank app to tap & pay in the last 90 days. I'm yet to use the Android Pay app, so am I still eligible if I use the Android Pay app for my next three transactions?

    • +1

Have not used the tap & pay function on CommBank app on Android in the 90 day period prior to the start of the Promotional Period.

With this line in the T&C, I'm assuming you won't be eligible for the promotion even with Android Pay.

      • Damn! Thanks

  • +2

Transactions made via iOS Pay Tag are not eligible for this promotion.

Suck it apple users… APPLE CHARGE FEE's for any Bank that wants to use their phone as a base for their Bank APP! lol Apple take your FREE $20 off CBA pretty much

    • -8

      Suck it apple users

Thanks, you can keep the $20 and I will keep my spending habbit/data. Google is a business and nothing is free, they take your financial data (albeit anonymous).

      • +2

so you dont use google to search?.. you dont log into youtube to get 18+ content video's? .. you dont use google map or sheets, docs, email all requiring a google account..

You only need to have created a google account to be in the same boat as every android phone, Windows PC, Tablet, ios user.. its hard to avoid google tracking or some type or another.. :) life is easier just giving in.. dont do the wrong thing and you dont have anything to worry about online.

        • +2

you dont log into youtube to get 18+ content video's?

          YouTube..? Or the other one?

    • Lol @ iFail

  • -3

So let me know if I've got this right.

    $1 coffee at 7-11, $2 mints at coles and woolies = $60 ?

    • -2

$1 coffee at 7/11, $2 mints via split payment in coles self service = $60

      • +7

It $20 for all three transaction, not each.

    • +3

So let me know if I've got this right.
      $1 coffee at 7-11, $2 mints at coles and woolies = $60 ?

Nah, I think it's like this:
      $2 mints from coles -> Pay now -> Partial payment -> $0.01 -> TAP -> Partial payment -> $0.01 -> TAP -> "Pay Amount Due" -> TAP = $20.

      • +4

        You got it wrong:
        $2 mints from Coles -> Pay now -> Partial payment -> $0.01 -> TAP -> Partial payment -> $0.01 -> TAP -> Partial payment -> $0.01 -> TAP = $20

You then use a discounted gift card to pay the balance.

        • This is the essence of what it means to be a "professional".

  • Is this $20 per account? If you have a credit card and debit card do you get $40?

    • I'm assuming since they are different account/card you should be able to claim it once on each account.

    • -4

$60 per account. first three transactions per account

      • +2

It $20 for all three transaction, not each.

        • ah yes you are right. i misread it. i thought it was $20 for the first three taps

        • +1

          @scorpweb:

Lol I don't think CBA would be that generous

    • +3

I retract what I said earlier. After reading the T&C, condition 6 states that:

Only one (1) claim is permitted per person

    • @Wildstone

no you don't, only for one account.

  • My interpretation is that as long as you haven't used it in the last 90 days and you must link your cba mastercard or debit card. You'll get the bonus

Doesn't matter if you've used Android pay before with different cards

  • do we need to claim it or does it directly get credited to your account ?

    • +1

You don't have to do anything.
"A claim will be deemed received only once the third eligible tap & pay transaction is completed.. Claimants, if they are a winner, will be notified via a push notification or SMS on their device. The winning claimants account will be credited with the cash back within ten (10) business days of the Promoter receiving their complete and valid claim."

      • thank you.

  • Is there a way to tell when your last tap & pay transaction was?

    • +1

Netbank should tell you I think, search for "Tap and Pay" or some combination of those words..

  • Could I use my square reader for three 1 dollar transactions over NFC?… save me leaving the house..

    • +1

Could I use my square reader for three 1 dollar transactions over NFC?… save me leaving the house..

Could you do me a favor and send that as a direct message to me, 6 months ago, when this started:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314390

This would have saved me so much time.

Edit: Nah, don't bother actually. If you can send messages back 6 months, tell me to buy bitcoin.

      • +1

He'd need to use the phone microwave (name subject to change) to send those messages.

        • +1

Sounds like a fast way to end up on a bad world-line :(

      • Do you think it will work, $3 dollars is a big investment for me to find out.

Wont work square readers are shit…

    • +1

Were you planning to not leave your house for the next 6 weeks? :D

  • The day after I lose my card. Bless you CBA.

  • ffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu used it last time on Aug 22nd! couldn't they wait for another month with their promotion. I am entitled to my free money! :)

    • How did you check your last tap and pay transaction ?

      • +1

If you go through you transaction record on Netbank, it would be labeled "Tap and Pay xx####" (# being last four digits)

  • +4

Buy one grape from woolies three times lol

    • Just buy it once and split it into 3 split payments! Surely it'll be more than $0.03

  • is there a minimum amount to tap for purchase to qualify? would 3 split 5 cent taps at coles work? is it per cba card you own and use on android pay or is it for the first card you register only? where can i find the Supported Cards op on the website? i have a business low rate no annual fee card and i just wonder if it qualifies too?

  • +6

Left my wallet at home a few days ago and was craving a $1 Slurpee. Logged into the combank app to see if I could get some cash out and found this option to pay via tap… Now a $21 Slurpee :D

  • 3 transaction tap done.

    Thanks OP

    Me love free kaching.

  • Do you have to activate the offer or is it automatic?

  • Anyone received their cash yet? Made three transactions but no SMS or notification.

    • I'm sure it will take few days before the card is charged.

    • Claimants, if they are a winner, will be notified via a push notification or SMS on their device. The winning claimants account will be credited with the cash back within ten (10) business days of the Promoter receiving their complete and valid claim.

I think it will be within the 10 days

    • +1

Same for me. Split a Coles self-checkout into 3. No SMS. Added another transaction at BigW, still no SMS. I'll do a genuine third one tomorrow maybe. I guess that's why they hold back the SMS, to sow doubts in people who push the boundaries ;-)

  • -3

The average person will spend far more than $20 if they haven't already been using tap to pay already.

Start paying cash if you like having money by not spending it.

    • +1

It's 2017, move on. Cash isn't king anymore.

      • +1

        Cryptocurrency is where it's at.

  • I have the smart access account CDIA accounts and used to have the debit cards for both accounts, but never used them so I never activated the new ones that were sent out after the originals expired and have since lost the new (unactivated) cards. If were to reorder replacement debit cards (assuming that I get the same old card numbers but with new expiry dates), would I be classed as an existing cardholder hence would I still be eligible for the offer?

  • never used nfc on samsung s8+ dose it work with a think case or need to take phone out of case for it to work

    • It works with case on.

    • Works with my s7 supcase and it's really thick, should be fine

    • my shitty A5 from optus works with and without the case, it's wonderful for cardless payments.

  • From the Conditions of Entry:

For clarity, claimants must be one (1) of the first thirty thousand (30,000) customers to complete all three (3) eligible tap & pay transactions to receive a cash back.

Offer is strictly limited to the first thirty thousand (30,000) valid claims received.

So basically, there's no way to know if you're one of the first 30,000 customers who met those connections? Kinda tricky there. But again, if you have a Commbank Mastercard and you haven't used Android/Commbank App pay before or in the last 90 days, then you have nothing to lose here I guess.

  • Left my wallet at home last week and paid with the phone. Damn You CBA.

  • Im old school, this app on phone to pay for stuff it out there for me! So basically I can use Th Commbank App or the Android Pay App 3 times, doesnt matter which one you use ? Do all terminals that have paywave/paypass accept the phone in the same way ?

    • +1

Just make sure you downloaded and set up BOTH apps, and then you can pay through any.
Regarding terminals I suppose all that accept contactless payment via cards (i.e. Visa payWave) will work for phones.

  • Paving the road to removing cash as a method of payment…

  • Any possible way for anJb iPhone device to take up this offer?

    • Easiest to find family/friend with NFC on their android phone, set up CBA with it - tap and pay your 3 payments at self checkout.

  • +1

used android tap and pay once in my life. With CBA, last week FML
