    • correct me if I misunderstand, we can use 1 card and split the payment into 7x$400, we can buy the TV and save $700?

      • No? It's one $100 statement credit on $400 spend per card. You'd need 7 cards (7 split payments) to 'save' $700.

        • Thanks Sky.

      • No. Only one credit per card. You can save $700 if you have 7 cards.

      • None ,you only can use 1 care to redeem once. But , you can use your supplementary card to get the $100 back as well .

        • That's right, the supp cards have the same number (even though names are different), it doesn't let you register twice.

        • +1

          @browser:

Depends on the issuer. Some use different numbers for supp cards, some do not.

    • I got the 65inch Frame TV and a coloured frame for $4000 including a $460 gift card, delivery and wall mounting. Less the $700 from spitting it over 7 cards, so effectively $2840 once the gift card was spent on a washer/dryer I was going to buy anyway. Not bad for a RRP$4998 TV that's exclusive to HN.

The other option would have been to use the Amex Samsung 20% back offer to get it for $3998.40 from Samsung's website.

Even at $2840, I know I'm paying a premium for the style of the TV rather than the technology, but meh.

  • How quick does the $100 credit hit the account? My mate has an AMEX card and I'll most likely prevail upon him.

    • +1

per my experience it is usually 2 to 3 business days.

      • Thanks mate

    Thanks OP
Was waiting for the HN or Apple offer to buy iPhone x

  • +2

Based on last year's experience (spend $300 get $100), confirmation email immediately after the purchase, credit arrived after a few days.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273327

Just registered AMEX issued and bank issued cards, yes you can split the payment to take advantage on multiple cards. I assume their PoS has a limit on split payments, but I know 2 is not a problem.

Damn it, was going to get Apple Watch, then noticed: Excludes purchases of AEG, Apple, Asko, De Dietrich, Elica, Fagor, Falcon, Gaggenau, Miele, NEFF and St George products.

Anyhow, they don't have the stainless steel variant.

      • +1

How can Amex know what item you purchased? Surely HN cannot share purchased item details with Amex?

      • Yeah, you are right. I think it will be manual checkpoints, whether the salesperson will let you pay by AMEX.

      • +1

I bought an Apple Watch online at HN mid this year and got the $50 credit back. I completely forgot about the 'Apple' restriction at the time. This just adds more validity to the theory that Amex cannot detect what you purchase with Amex cards at HN. Especially HN online.

    • Maybe it's possible to workaround by purchasing gift cards. :D

T&C doesn't say excludes gift cards.

Edit: should have read the comments earlier, already being discussed.

  • Great stuff HN here we come!

    • +1

      The professionals strike again

  • Has anybody tried click and collect online for an Apple product in the past with success? Or is it better to go in store, or online egift cards for that matter?

    • As long as they process your AMEX card, you should be ok

      • +1

Well I've attempted an apple watch click and collect, so will see what happens- just got an email from HN saying my order is being reviewed by the online team. Received the AMEX email confirming my use of the offer, so fingers crossed.

        • i cant seem to locate the GC link online. can you please share? keen to buy gift cards and hope for the best

        • Same. But they charged the card already and Amex emailed the confirmation of payment.

Maybe it's just a generic "we are reviewing to check stock and make sure everything is ok" email.

        • @cnut:

Put my click and collect order through at 9am this morning, have since had order confirmed by HN and AMEX and have collected the watch. Now to sit back and wait for the credit to process through!

  • Should i get an American Express card just for this deal?

    • +1

I say yes. One with no annual fee. However, registrations for the deal might fill up by the time the card arrives. At least you'll be ready for next time, and you can make use of other Amex deals like Shop Small.

    • This and other deals. Shop small is also very good.

    • What did you want to buy from this deal? PM me and I can help you out.

  • need to wait after 18/12 in order to get TRS~~!!! Cant WAIT!!!!

  • nice! $300 off for my new iphone 8 plus! thanks!

dont worry about that, they not going to find out, all they want is cash/sales

        • Hope they let it go through for you :)

        • finger cross!

        • +2

@imahapyboy: and what did you do to make your finger so angry?

        • @imahapyboy:

Thanks for making me aware that Apple could still work. Managed to get an Apple Watch today with no issues and an confirmation email from American Express. I'll be claiming TRS at the end of the month as well so bings it down from $499 to about $350 :)

        • @jcrew:

          nice!

  • Do you guys only get the gift cards in store? I can only select $500 when purchasing online. I can't even get 2 x $200 ones.

    • You can. But the order goes for review and probably will get cancelled :(

    • Select $200, add to cart, click review cart, then increase GC qty to 2 if you want 2x$200 then check out

      • I tried to change the quantity to 2, and the following message appears:
Some of the products cannot be ordered in requested quantity. Contact us if you need help

        • I just did it. It works for me. I already got email confirmation from Amex . The immediate email from HN was that my order was being review by their online team. But a few hours later it came through ok.

    • Yes AMEX email went straight through almost at the same time as the HN email of the egiftcard

  • If I have a primary Amex card and an accompanying supplementary card, can I save the deal on both cards and use the deal twice? Cheers.

      Colesworth

  • Are the eftpos gift cards normally at the carouse? I can't see the eftpos ones

Edit: Blacktown store don't have any eftpos gift cards

    • Liverpool don't have the eftpos ones anymore. Just purchased 4 x $400 HN gift cards and received email re the credit

      • Blacktown store didn't even have harvey norman gift cards

      • I purchased Vpay gift cards from Liverpool & Campbelltown . These are online only Visa cards.

        • Bugger did you do this today? Can I ask where they were located

        • I went to Campbelltown. They didn't have Vpay.

        • @twilsoncrow: apologies. I bought them earlier this year during the HN Amex offer

        • @FBOD: How do you know if the store has Vpay?

Is there any signage, or just ask the cashier?

        • @t25: I bought vpay there before. They had thems at the cashier with HN gift card together. This time there was none so I asked them and they said they don't sell it anymore.

  • Stupid question, but does this have to be on a single item or a single transaction? I need a new dryer.

    • +3

      Stupid reply..

      RTFM..

tl;dr - "spend $400 or more, in one or more transactions"

can i use to buy HN gift card?

  • +1

I bought an ipad on this offer last year, spread across two cards saved $200. YMMV.

  • Looking to upgrade from my ps3 to a ps4. Some questions:
    1) Is the pro worthwhile over the regular ps4 version?
    2) Assuming 1TB is recommended due to games's taking up a lot of HD space?
    3) What is a good price for each of the ps3/ps4? I noticed that HN had the 500gb slim ps4 for $350 last year around this time…

    Thanks.

    • +1

Get a pro. Price match JB and they come down to like $350 with this deal.

  • Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me in understanding how does gift cards and AMEX works in terms of getting extra discounts? I am planning buy Fitbit Ionic, retailing at 447. Just wondering what is the lowest I get it to? Any help would be appreciated.

    • +1

With the current deal it would be just $100 off for you assuming one Amex card.

      • Yes. Alright I am taking jump then, Thanks Danielh.

Watch out Gerry Harvey, the professionals are out in force today.

  • Best way to buy a new Macbook? I have 6 AMEX (3 and 3 sup) so split payment over the 6 cards or use the 6 cards to buy giftcards and pay for Macbook with giftcards?

    • 6 credit cards? WTF dude?

      • 3 Credit Cards and 3 Supp cards. Always good for times like this :-)

        • True. True. What's a supp card? Like a companion card to a MasterCard/Visa?

        • +4

          @cnut: 3 wives x 1 card each

  • any success with getting the e-gift cards online? cheers :)

  • Thanks, op. I ordered a fridge I've been looking at for a long time. They also have free delivery and removal of old fridge ending today.

Can harvy Norman price beat this price ?

    • Just go onto their website and ask the online chat.

  • What's better - eBay deal or this for getting an OLED? Wait for boxing day?

    • How many AMEX cards do you have? If it's not 5 or 6 you won't be getting your money's worth on a $2500+ TV vs an eBay 20% off

      • I am trying GC out

If cash back successful with GC. I suggest buying multiple $400 GC with multiple Amex. That way when checking out a $3000 item with 8 GC the store manager won't get grumpy

        • Yeah if you have 8 AMEX cards!? That's a BIG if! ;)

    • This is 25% off at best, for all the trouble of multiple cards I'd say just use eBay.
