Unregistered Bus Mobile Home - Transport 4 Hours

Looking at buying an unregistered bus for my son to live in it hasn't been driven for 3 years but I am told that is mechanically sound but not registered needing a blue slip and a little bit of work. I am thinking that rather than risking it I would not drive it home I would get a transport company to bring it. I don't know where to start looking for the best price for someone to pick up a bus from Newcastle and bring it down to the Southern Highlands New South Wales any help any suggestions that would be great thank you

May I ask what crimes your son has committed to warrant this treatment?

        Too many smashed avo sangas?

      • Come off it. You can get a ROOM in the Sydney bloody CBD for around $120 a week. Anyone can afford that, even some young bloke working the registers at Woolies.

  • If it is indeed driveable, you may be able to get a permit to drive it unreg along a predetermined route. At least, you used to be able to. Check with RMS.

    • Doubt OP has the licence required to drive a bus though.

      • No I do not have a bus license ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • Check with RMS.

OP probably on first name terms by now. RMS Inspection Needed for Registration That Was Cancelled NSW

      • Ha ha yes and had inspection and still.. waiting for them to decide… grr

    • As it has not been driven for 3 years I am not wanting to drive it 5 hours home ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • I live near Newcastle and have a brother that does flatbed/float transport. If you PM me some details about the bus, as in size, make and model would help, I will see if he is interested and has time to fit it in.

I also do drive away service where I drive vehicles from A to B for people that either donโ€™t have the time or need their drivers for more important things, so moving a bus would be no issue if it was roadworthy and you didnโ€™t feel like a 5hr drive.

PS: you can move it on a permit to move from RMS. Depends on the size of the bus, you would need anything up to HR class license to drive it (unless itโ€™s a really long bendy bus.)

    • Great I will do that now thank u ๐Ÿ˜Š

    • I have messaged you again thank u

  • As a general follow up, I was unable to help OP in the time frame. But I thought I would post up the info here for anyone else who may be looking at this thread at a later stage to get a car/bus/truck/motorcycle moved, where to start looking.
