Bulla Icecreams & Hoyts Competition - Wrappers Needed to Validate Entries

Bulla Icecream company are certainly a bunch of BULLIES.

I entered a Movie ticket competition sponsored by Bulla - "1 in 5 chance of winning!" - by buying 2x icecreams.

I won a ticket and a choctop with my 2x icecreams.

Two weeks later, I just got this email:

Dear Madam,

Your entries into the Choc Buster - $10,000 Promotion (Permit numbers: NSW LTPS/17/17982, ACT TP17/01797, and SA T17/170) have been flagged as suspicious.

As such, in accordance with Clauses 6 & 12, of the Promotions Terms & Conditions we request you to produce the Original Bulla Creamy Classics Choc Top wrappers to validate your entries.

If you could please send receipt of your Choc Top Wrappers either via tracked mail, or emailed photograph with all relevant ChocTop wrappers and license to prove proof of identification.

Until such time, as you are able to provide us with these all of your current entries have been invalidated.

Further, as per Clause 12 the Promoter reserve the legal rights to recover damages or other compensation for unlawful or improper misconduct of the promotion.

Kind Regards,

Niki

So, I told them to sue me! Bunch of idiots.

I certainly will be boycotting HOYTS from now on; it's not Bulla's fault they are a bunch of losers.

Anyone else get anything like this from these idiots????

So you didn't retain the wrappers as you are required to do? This is a common request with many competitions relating to food items.

I don't understand why you're upset unless your entry was not genuine and thus flagging as suspicious by the promoter is warranted.

    • +1

      The last sentence was unnecessary

      • The last sentence was unnecessary.

As was that one and quite possibly this one.

    • -2

I can't be bothered with A Current Affair..

But you or anyone else can, if they want.

The letter of the text is above :)

  • +3

Hahaha, what idiots. I agree that yes, you're supposed to keep the wrappers, but they're not going to do anything to recover the amount of a choc-top plus a movie ticket. Tell them to go pound sand.

  • +1

The email is a bit OTT, but it's just a template….

  • +1

Have you already used the movie ticket ?

    • No, but was going to this weekend.

      • +3

If you can use it to book online for the weekend do it , because they could invalidate it .

  • +8

    OP: Don't call them idiots.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones..

    • -7

      I don't live in a glass house?

But I do throw stones :)

  • +6

Lol you didn’t follow the rules so what do you expect?

  • +2

Yeah Boycott Hoyts, they have NO right to threaten you.

You are of course a valued customer, only those with money buy choc tops at the theatre.

Cheapskates like others here at ozbargain, buy an icecream at woolies and wait patiently for the movie to appear free on TV, netflix etc

meantime enrol in the nearest Uni and take up Law, you seem to have the right attitude for injustice and correct procedures

    LOL

    • -8

      Thanks for your support!

I know I'm right and everyone else is wrong.

  • +1

    Dear Madam,

Oooo, Niki knows you are a woman. Spooky ….

    • Yes you have to register online for the competition.

      • +1

Now that they have your name, address, mobile number, gender, favorite ice-create flavor, time you usually go for a movie, alone or with companion, and yet still don't want to give you your ticket and choctop. That's cheapskates.

  • +4

I agree its inconvenient. Their system probably can be improved, or make their requirements more obvious.

However, inconvenience and not liking the way something is done is not bullying. I don't sense bullying in the email.
I am wary when people claim to be victims / bullied simply when they don't like the way something is done.

    • -4

      I disagree.

      Thus is Bullying.

  • +3

Is it bad that I look forward to the next post about a certain someone being banned from patronizing this private business, all over a free movie ticket and choc top?

    • Only if they sue you too, like they threaten ;)

  • +9

Let's be honest, you didn't buy the icecreams. Many people rorted the competition and it was taken down as a result, this is the end result of trying to get something for nothing.

    • -1

      Wrong.

      Legitimate wrappers, legitimate entry.

Never assume, you make an ass of yourself.

      • +1

Can you prove these legitimate entries please?

EDIT: If you have the wrappers, then whats the big deal?

        • -2

It's the ID I have an issue with.

          They have requested it.

I refuse to send it to them them.

        • @itcrowd: See below comment about different options to contact them and sort something out.

        • @itcrowd: correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't they only requested you provide your ID if you choose to email a photo of the wrappers? Post the wrappers to them, no ID required!

      • You’ve made an ass of yourself on Ozbargain without assuming anything.

  • If you could please send receipt of your Choc Top Wrappers either via tracked mail, or emailed photograph with all relevant ChocTop wrappers

Op, do you have this? If yes, then send it to them and ask for an apology.

    • I won't be sending my ID to them!

      That's what they asked for.

That's crazy and it won't be happening!

Yes, I still have the wrappers.

      • +1

They have given you an address and phone number for a reason

Also, don't make bold statements about saying 'sue me' unless you are willing to battle it out in court. Seriously, these companies are unpredictable and have more money/power/legal knowledge and expertise than you. It's not worth it.

        • If they want to sue an unemployed discharge bankrupt, they are welcome to.

          I have lots of time!

I'm not afraid and more than willing to stand up to them.

We all should stand up to Bullies!

        • +1

@itcrowd: Sorry I had to laugh at this.
See the way the world works is that if someone has the power and the money, they can basically do whatever they like. They don't care if you are an unemployed discharge or whether you are rich, if you don't have anyone to back you up legally, stand down.

Yes they are 'bullies' (light way of putting it) and yes they are fraudulent. But companies can pay their way out of trouble. Can you?

          @pennypincher98:

          What you say is true.

I say to them "Bring it on! Sue me!"

I'd rather die for my convictions.

Like Midnight Oil sing in "Power & The Passion", "It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!"

        • +1

          @pennypincher98:

If itcrowd is an unemployed bankrupt, suing him will literally do nothing. We don't have debtor's prisons, he's free to ignore literally any lawsuit that goes his way. So maybe you should brush up on how the world works, before saying stuff like…

See the way the world works is…

        • @0blivion: Well, I'm assuming itcrowd still has something to her name which means suing her will actually do something. Even if you didn't there can be a judgement on your record that stops you buying car, house etc.
So before making a fool out of yourself, brush up on the law.

And also, if you have no money to defend yourself from the case you are kind of screwed.

          *Note her not him.

        • +1

          @pennypincher98:

Even if you didn't there can be a judgement on your record that stops you buying car, house etc.

Are we forgetting the part where itcrowd is unemployed and bankrupt? That's the exact point - they're literally at the lowest point possible legally. Short of debtor's prison, which we don't have, a lawsuit and even a judgment won't actually affect them in any way. I don't see them buying a house or a car any time soon, for example.

        • +1

@0blivion: Bankruptcy is not an end game. You can still get a loan. It's more like a reset button. Just because someone is bankrupt now doesn't mean they will be forever. Suing someone that is bankrupt just ensures they can't ever afford a pot to piss in, quite frankly.

Think of it like tax or HECS (fee help) debt, if you don't ever earn over the required amount you never have to pay it. But if you go over that limit, you do have to.

Also, someone that is unemployed and bankrupt chooses to buy ice creams at the cinemas?? No wonder.

        • @itcrowd: Love, just calm down, you are getting all hot over a cold product, and commonsense is melting away.

As i said before, invest in a law degree.

Niki said ".. reserve the legal rights to recover…

Operative word is reserve. They are not at this stage taking any action against you. Or have the said they will. Reserve is a legal term, saying that this is an option they are not giving up at this stage.

Very simple send them the details of the wrappers, if you still have them.

Assuming you do, say that you are not comfortable in supplying your ID especially since they have inferred your have been fraudulent when in fact you have complied with the promotion, you have evidence of the purchase. However due to the aggressive tone of the email, you feel offended and if the evidence of purchase is not enough, then you "reserve" the right to sever any future dealings with the company.

If you dont have the wrappers move on as you havent fulfilled the terms of the offer.

Far better than the tantrums you are continuing with here.

        • @0blivion:

Are we forgetting the part where itcrowd is unemployed and bankrupt?

Yet has $140 on a credit card? Not likely, the financial institution would've frozen that debt asap.

      • +1

I won't be sending my ID to them!

I wasn't asking about your id. The wrapper and code, do you have that?

        Nvm.

  • So you can't afford to pay back $140 on your credit card but you can afford to buy two ice-creams?

  • +2

Op has the wrapper (apparently) but because she is a leech to society she now wants to waste everyone's time by making this post. Nothing anyome say will have any impact. I wonder if you can block people.

  • +1

I bought 2 products that entitled me to a cash back. I got an email saying my barcodes were not right.

So I took a photo of the bottles. They already had a copy of the receipt.

They hadn't asked me to do that, but I was mad.

    I got my cash back.

Just send them the photo of the wrappers - not the license. Was there an age requirement? If there was, then that is why they are asking. Perhaps they think you are under age.

  • +1

My best guess (nothing to back this up) is that something about the OPs entries triggered some suspicion that they were fraudulent, so they send a template email asking for the wrappers.

Maybe someone guessed/generated the barcode previously and it was already entered? But you would think it would check and say code already used…

    • +1

Maybe someone guessed/generated the barcode previously and it was already entered?

That's why the post got taken down, someone submitted generic barcodes or they were listed in the source code.

This is probably a batch email sent to everyone that used those barcodes
