Does This Japanese Travel Site Look Like a Scam?

Hi Ozbargainers,

Hoping for a little advice here. I bought two tickets for a day trip to Kyoto from Osaka, Japan through this website. It claims to be a subsidiary of Hankyu Travel International, a well known company that owns multiple chains of hotels and travel companies across Japan.

I couldn't find any information to substantiate this claim other than a dodgy looking link on it's page. Their website does not supply a phone number for contact or an email and I couldn't find out who the domain was registered by- not sure if I'm looking in the right place. Their Facebook page is slightly reassuring with around 4.5k likes and comments on most posts. I'm worried about the legitimacy of this company but I have already bought the tickets. What are your thoughts? Should I go check it out or should I just give this one a miss?

Considering they have a page with 20k+ likes that is verified, has active reviews and they have a parent company that makes millions…
I think its safe to say they're legit.

They have to be verified as a legit business for the facebook verification they have.

  • I've seen a few Japanese websites looking quite empty and not having all the information I'm used to. I've also never had an issue with any companies in Japan whose websites had these qualities. The website you've linked is actually quite detailed in comparison to others I've found! I'd trust it.

  • Looks legit imo. It only seems scammy because being a Japanese company, their main/better-maintained customer facing portals are on platforms directed at Japanese clients and their English-version counterparts are probably a lower priority.

  • Update: went on the tour yesterday, Hankyu Travel_en is definitely legitimate, the tour was really well organised and good value for money. Cheers all for the advice!

  • Hi jellyqueen123, we are looking at the same tour, thank you so much for reporting back on the tour. Can I ask, what time did you get back to Osaka after the tour? Thank you.

    • It was around 7-8pm in the night time!
