Bonus Mixed Reality Headset (RRP $799) with selected PCs and Laptops (Price from $1098) @ Harvey Norman

111

HN is bundling a mixed reality headset with selected PCS and laptops. Looks like you can choose one of the:
Acer
HP
Lenovo

Thanks to edrift who pointed out that they all include 2 controllers.

The cheapest PC is an Acer i5-7400 with GT720 for $1098, though the Lenovo Legion with i7 and 1050ti might be more interesting at $1499. The PCs on their own are likely overpriced, but seems like a reasonable deal if you attach any value to the headsets.

We pay a ridiculous mark up here in aus. The acer one was $299 usd with controllers in the states a week ago from the Microsoft store. Microsoft Aus hopefully will run a similar promo soon or I'd recommend holding out for Amazon US or oz deals closer to xmas.

  • Couple the purchase with 3 or 4 amex cashback deals and it seems more attractive.

But perhaps if all I wanted was a VR experience, I'm maybe better off buying a PS4 plus the PS4 VR headset which would still only set me back $750 (before amex cashback) and I'd get some games included.

    • I got more use out of my Rift than my PSVR, but also a case of each to their own.

      • Any idea if the rift games work on the other VR headset?

I think Revive let you play rift games on the vive, not sure about other headsets though.

Windows MR now supports Steam VR so the answer is yes. Odyssey owner here.

Cheapest spec PC for this deal appears to sell for about $450 on Ebay. If you pay RRP for the HMDs which no one does it's (the imaginary item's value that I'm thinking about) at about $1100 total or so - so basically normal price on PC and RRP for HMD, no deal.

Link? Couldn't find one for that cheap brand new.

I actually just want the headset. Thinking of buying the PC and selling it

    • sadly the guy at Harvey Norman was honest enough to tell me that the two Acer Spin 5 laptops would not be able to play any of the VR games on it due to its crappy video card.

  • These aren't proper AR headsets more like just cheaper VR headsets.

  • Also available at JB Hi-Fi.

    • Link please?

      • The links aren’t live, but I heard it’s an offer from Microsoft similar to their US Black Friday deals. HN and JB should be doing it.

  • In case anyone is wondering what games you can play:

  • Yes and no. It does have the option to upgrade to thunderbot USB c gpu should you require it

  • Just bought the Acer laptop this morning.
Any questions just let me know. Comes with the Ghostbusters game download code upon registration.

    • Which model did you get?

      • +2

        Core i5, 256gb SSD.

Runs games fine without lag even on its on board Intel uhd 620 graphics card

  • Which headset did you choose? I have bought same laptop and are going to collect tomorrow. Not sure which headset is best

    • You don't get a choice. You get the Acer one.
They're all the same specs except the Samsung (not offered in this deal) which is very slightly better

      • That saves me some time researching differences then :) Thanks
