**Dons flame-retardant suit…

This is a brilliant pistol and very well reviewed (generally 5*) on sites like Cabela's.

          @d1s34s3d:

I went out shooting in Logan,

          But I was heavily out-Brodened,

          I pulled out my gun,

But I just had to run,

As there were far too many armed bogans.

        • @Scab: That rolls nicer. Thank you.

        • @Scab: If you have a day job, suggest you don't give it up just yet.

Nice Xmas gifts for kids, making bloody fireworks with their friends.

I'd like to get this for the stupid miner birds in our area. Alas sadly I have no gun licence..

    • +1

You can get a cat A & B to deal with those, handguns are not permitted for hunting use. Or depending on your state regs you could pick up a slingshot.

      • +1

Well hey slingshots are much more advanced these days than I even imagined

    • +9

Hey now, women in the resource industry have as much right to live as you do.

    • Thankfully you don't have a gun licence. Shooting a 9mm at birds is stupidly dangerous. I mean you might actually get lucky and hit one instead of your neighbors house.

    • Its people like you that cause strict gun control

    • It's 2017. We don't call women "birds" anymore.

EDIT: Dammit. I didn't see that other comment.

I like guns. Guns are cool.

    • Didnt neg you but they are there for good reason.
But having a pistol licence keeps you in good practice with your paperwork thats gor sure.

      • -5

shooting is a great sport and armed citizens would make this country a LOT safer :)

    • More concealable weapons is a bad idea

      • Neg monkeys you do realize that criminals in AU have free rein to pull a gun on you at any time with little to no resistance. Thank about it :)

        • +1

Use your brain. Less availability means less availability.

        • @MountFranklin: That would mean [GUN=BADPERSON] but that is just not the case.

        • @figarow:
Let me rephrase in a simpler way for you…
          No

        • @MountFranklin: You should really look into it then. I recommend watching some real life footage of what happens in dangerous situations where armed vs unarmed citizens are put at risk from armed criminals. Check out Active Self Protection for starters.

          …whoosh…

    You come across as controlling.
I see why you're into guns.

    • ironically that's the opposite of what gun owners want

if you want to restrict gun ownership then that's gun control…

        • +4

Yeh, bit of a stretch there sport.

        • control =/ kill

        • +3

Except you can't take a pistol hunting, mate. More like:

I want to control that circular paper target and demonstrate how powerful I am.
          Blam!
There, that circular paper target is now fully under my control and I have demonstrated my awesome power.

But I guess paper does come from trees, and you come across as a pretty big fan of those… 😉

        • -4

          @thebargainhunter:

You come across as quite aggressive 'mate'.
I see why you're into guns.

        • +3

@AngryChicken: Haha, pots and kettles 'mate'. My comment was obviously tongue in cheek, you however are asserting that all shooters are controlling and seconds away from murder.
I was attempting to lighten the mood of both of your, franky quite aggressive comments. I can see why you shouldn't be around guns. Blam!

          @thebargainhunter:

1 deal post and 1100 odd comments in under a year, don't pay no mind to dropkicks like that mate, the wolf cares little for the opinions of sheep, especially one packing a shiny new 9mm S&W.

        • -2

…all shooters are controlling and seconds away from murder.

I didn't say that. You said that.

          1 deal post and 1100 odd comments…

And? Bit of an issue with relevancy there bro. Now if you'd made it to uni you wouldn't be making these basic logic errors.

          …especially one packing a shiny new 9mm S&W

You're so strong! Like a hero in a Hollywood movie! Bit of a reality issue there as well.

Virtually no one has guns in Australia, except for law enforcement agencies and registered gun license owners (low number). Waste of time posting that on here

    • You mean virtually no one has Handguns in Australia.

If it was a single action hunting rifle, then it would be a deal worth posting. But a handgun? That is really super restricted here, and for good reasons.

      • I mean guns for sale, in general. RE hunting rifles, you'll need a licence/permit. What is the percentage of Australians with permits? Not much.

        • Hunting rifle licenses aren't particularly hard to get. Tons of people who live in the country side have them. Sure, the average city dweller doesn't have much use for them.

        • My dad and I have 9 combined. My dad's see action a couple times a year shooting deer.

I haven't touched mine in a couple years.

Many people in my home town have gun licenses, probably the majority in fact.

          Country Victoria

        • -3

@Salmando: Why does your Dad shoot deer? Is it because they're ferocious beasts and he fears for his life and that of his family and he's just doing it to defend himself? Or just because he finds it FUN and just thinks it would be an awesome way to pass the time?

        • +2

          @Lucky13:
He enjoys it, and we enjoy the meat.

Do you take offense to that?

        • @Lucky13:

Why does your Dad shoot deer? Is it because they're ferocious beasts and he fears for his life and that of his family and he's just doing it to defend himself?

The Hollywood is strong in this one! I can't speak for Salmando or his/her dad but a couple of things to consider.

Deer are feral animals in this country and while shooting isn't the most efficient means of keeping the numbers down it's definitely the most humane.

Wild deer damage crops so even vegans benefit from dead ferals.

…that and free range organic deer tastes delicious.

      • That is really super restricted here,

Incorrect, only difference is participation rules.

        • Are you saying theres no difference between Category A and Category H firearms? That isn't my understanding of our laws at all.

        • +2

@Pacify: He's likely saying that there's no major difference in someone getting a Cat A/B vs a Cat H - if you're not a suitable person to get a Cat H then you're not a suitable person for a firearms license full stop.

    • -1

More than you think. About 8% I believe.

    • +6

Virtually no one has guns in Australia

I hate to burst your bubble, but 2016 stats indicate that 13.6% of Australian civilians own guns, with over 3 million in private ownership. Add to that law enforcement, military and security. That's a heck of a lot more than the percentage of the population that stockpile Eneloops..

      • +1

Can you post a reference for that statistic as it seems a bit high?

        • +1

2.75 million registered firearms as at 2012 almost a million of them owned within NSW. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-26/source-of-illicit-guns… 730,000 firearms licensees.

        • +3

@swilso: thanks for that. So 730000 licenses/22000000 (population in 2012 when that report was done) = approx 3.3%.

So at most approx 3% of people owned at least a single legal firearm in 2012.

        • Can you post a reference for that statistic as it seems a bit high?

          Have two! 😀

According to Wikipedia, Australia rounds out the top 20 countries with highest numbers of firearms per capita - we have an estimated 24 guns per 100 people.

And according to gunpolicy.org, the estimated rate of civilian firearm ownership in 2016 was 13.7 out of every 100 people.

        • +1

          @thebargainhunter:
You will find that licenses is a very small percentage of the population.

        • @MountFranklin: If almost 14% of civilians own guns, surely the majority of those 14% are licensed. They can't all be held illicitly.

        • @thebargainhunter:
          Actually less than 5%.

        • @thebargainhunter. OK. So it sounds like when you talk about 13% ownership you are including illegally owned guns? i.e. guns possessed by people without a license?

    • +1

A recent count showed 850,634 firearms registered with the NSW Firearms Registry. This excludes firearms owned by collectors (they are disabled) and firearms dealers but includes items like paintball guns.

      • +2

How many actual registered gun holders, not guns? Those that like firepower tend to hoard.

        • I can't find stats on ownership with a quick google search.

816,000 firearms licences at some point in 2016 and 2.89 million legally registered firearms.

Some licences will be for enities and many licencees will not own any guns.

  • Glad for our gun restriction laws. But still wish I could buy one of these. Such conflict.

  • +1

Father bought my brother a .22 pistol when we were kids. Never wanted one since as they seemed too dangerous to me. Far easier (compared to rifles) to forget how dangerous they are. A quick way to kill yourself or others. Just my opinion …

  • Hardly a range pistol. It designed to. Be small to conceal. Not target shooting.

  • +1

You cant even use this for target shooting, it has a barrel length under 120mm

  • Has anyone had any luck getting any Sydney based gun store to match Clever's prices?

    • -1

      try my local Post Office

    • +1

I'm not in NSW but my understanding is that other stores hate Cleavers and some won't even accept xfers from them.

      • Yeah that's what I have been lead to believe. Its a shame, that most stores down here are at least 20-30% more expensive.

    • +1

HPGS and Magnum Sports have been happy to match in the past

  • Serious topic, how do I obtain this? Should have hunting license?

    • Do you plan to hunt?
But nah seriously if you want one join a gun club and get a license then you’re good own one.
Much easier if you live rural and can give a reason why you want/need to own one

    • +2

If you have no experience with guns or ownership history, your first point of call should be applying for membership with your local gun club / range.

Once you've done that, they'll most likely be able to help you get to the stage where you meet the legislative requirements in your state to own a handgun. As others have pointed out, this particular gun will be hard to purchase given its dimensions are smaller than the requirements for sports / range shooting.

Hunters generally don't use handguns so getting a licence for guns that they'd normally use won't help you.

      • I want one for self defense but apparently that's not good enough reason to own one.
