Cashrewards Launches eGift Card Portal: Jetstar 3%, EB 5%, Boost 5%, SCA 5%, Myer 3%, Rebel 5%, Hoyts 5%, BCF 5%, WISH 5% + More

4230

Offer temporarily suspended by 3rd party provider.

Hi everyone. We've just launched our brand new eGift card portal with 29 discounted cards ranging in savings of up to 5% off. While it may not seem much, in my opinion any saving is a good saving. Please note that apart from WISH cards, these will not stack with cashback if/when used for redemption via Cashrewards (also no stacking with refer-a-friend). Delivery is conveniently via email, and from tests we've conducted, most are being delivered within a few minutes (WISH remains unchanged). We welcome any feedback on this new site. Please check back regularly as we'll be adding a heap more in the new year. Thanks for the continued support :)

My Boost Juice addiction suddenly got worse.

Doesn't require signing up to a bank either <:

    • It's great how this can also work with deals such a $5 original size boosts - giving 5% off this ($4.75)

Am new to this eGift Card stuff..
Can I buy an EB Games gift card through this and then use it to buy something in store? Or do I have to buy through their online shop?

    • +2

Probably in store as well, but it depends on the terms of the gift card. Why don’t you have a read of the terms of the card(s) you would like to buy and find out?

    • +1

As far as I recall, there's actually no way to pay using a gift card on the EB Games online store.. Last time I went to do so (fairly recently, probably less than 6 months ago), I looked around on their website for ages, but couldn't find any way to do so. It might've just been me, but yeah. Couldn't believe it, 2017, and you have to use an Egift card in their physical stores… Poor form.

      • +1

Yep, I called about 2-3 months back and asked whether it was possible and they said they would be adding the option 'soon'.

  • Jah Bless you Cashrewards you been a Saverer

  • Please don't pay full price for gift cards people. You are better off giving cash instead.

    • +2

Lol where was anyone paying full price for gift cards??
Get them cheaper, so they can get more for the same amount of money.

    • Agreed, for a lazy gift, cash is much better.

Most people here buy these for themselves, with a pre-planned use, to save a few dollars.

    • +1

Don't worry, at least I hope nobody here would ever do that

    • Put your cash in a Chinese red envelop is better.

  • Not much to see here guys move on

    • +1

I expected more from you, eneloop.. You haven't been the same since DSE closed down :(

      • +3

        I'll be back don't worry

        • +2

          Are you recharging?

  • +1

I note in your description you say these can take a couple of mins if you're lucky.

Wish takes a couple of hours at least, are these definitely quicker?

    • Ive been waiting 3 hours for a $72 WISH gift card (the exact amount I need to buy 3 items from Dan Murphys for Click-n-Collect). Might have to hold off buying till tomorrow.

EDIT: actually no it looks like I bought I Dan Murphy specific gift card - the order email says "Dan Murphy's Divisional eGift Card"

      • Wish cards usually take ~6 hours or so, I'd never buy if I was in a rush. It's a shame as I often like to CnC stuff.

        • +1

Its now been around 30 hours since I ordered the Dan Murphys gift card - paid via Coles Mastercard - the charge showed up instantly on my credit card app so I know I entered the correct payment info.

When I click on the order status link from the email, it says "Payment Pending". Maybe Woolies make Coles customers wait longer..

The problem is the item at Dan Murphys I want to buy is on special - part of their Xmas catalog ending today.

So unless the eGiftCard comes through this evening (which I doubt) it looks like I will have to buy from Dans using my credit card (missing out on the 5% discount), and have a $72 gift card sitting around waiting for the next time I need something from Dans.

Given my expectation was ~5 minutes, and later revised up to around 6 hours (although I didnt buy a WISH card, I bought a Dan Murphy specific card), this experience is a bit disappointing.

        • @systmworks:

Sounds crap - I never buy dan cards - just generic wish ones which can be used there (and a bunch of other places) and they never take longer than 12 hours.

  • jv-> where's the bargain

    • +3

      Tightarse: Bends over

    • +10

no real bargain when other sites have better rates

hopefully my suncorp benefits post will result in an adjustment in the discounts they are offering since all these gift cards comes from one parent company

      • +7

No real bargain but it's a TA deal so people vote regardless

      • +2

Agreed. If another competitor (Entertainment Book/RACQ/Suncorp) also offers the same eGift Card, it would be cheaper or same price there definitely as shown in this table. The only good thing I guess is the range of eGift Cards that are being offered (however most can be purchased in store at Woolworths with 5% off anyway).

I'm totally on the same boat as you. 300+ votes when the rates are equal or better somewhere else. Definitely too much Cash Rewards circle jerking going around here.

  • About time!

  • +2

    Webjet - Save 1%

I am crying here! That won't even cover their booking fees unless you're spending over $2-3k…

puts ungrateful me back in box

    • It is a joke isn't it.

  • Why does Dan Murphy e gift go to Woolworths instead of their own? It seems strange giving someone a Woolworths e gift card for Xmas (even though can spend at Dan Murphys) but an actual Dan Murphy one for alcohol makes sense.

    • +1

Because Dan Murphy's is owned by Woolworths. Click through and you'll see the Dan Murphy's card on the following page :)

      • +1

Thanks. That is just what I wanted.

  • +2

Last time I got an EB gift card, didn't want anything in-store so upon asking Store clerk if I could use it to purchase Steam Gift Cards, he said I could. So Technically 5% off EB means 5%off steam cards (and google play etc.)

    • Reward gateway do EB cards for 10% off.

  • Why would anybody buy a Dan Murphy, Woolworths or Big W card when you can just buy a Wish Card and use it everywhere (Dan Murphy/Big W/Woolworths etc)..

    • +1
      • +4

and that reason is…..not too obvious for me sorry…

        • +1

To give a more "specialised" gift card i.e. one that's obviously for alcohol.

It's like me giving you a $20 EB Games Gift card and encouraging you to buy a game instead of giving you $20 cash.

  • +2

TA, are you negotiating with Coles to get discounts?

  • +2

We need the option of Coles (New World) too please TA!

  • +5

Really keen to get a Coles discounted eGift Card on here! Any reason why you haven't got it?

  • Another request for Coles too! Thanks!

  • Just wondering if any one of these listed businesses go under and i have a gift card from them bought from cr, would we take it up with cr or the company.

    • Post about it in the forums first

    • Would be the company. CR is just a go-between, not holding your money.

    • Charge back via credit card company.

    • you can search about what happened with Dick Smith and Borders. Good luck with charge back as well.

  • +4

    Bunnings please.

    • +1

Or Officeworks.. Unfortunately there are some stores that say "discounted gift cards - over my dead body!"

      • That’s actually not the case. Bunnings has run a ‘cashback’ scheme whereby you purchase $100 vouchers and they deposit 5% back in your account. This has been available from WorkLifeNab in the past (not sure if it does now, my work no longer uses WLN for its benefits program).

    • second this one!

  • -2

So you can use a 5% off gift card to buy a 5% off gift card to buy a 5% off gift card to buy a 5% off gift card to buy a 5% off gift card…

    • your inception logic is totally wrong, you can ONLY buy discounted gift card using credit card or bank deposit. The only exception is BIGW inception which theoretically* you will become millionaire from $100 after 89 times compounded inception
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/225198?page=2#comment-3311…

*Realistically you can't because they won't have that many gift cards for you to do it. 1 million = 2000x $500 gift card plus the amount of cards needed for the inception.

      • No it is only 5% discount now, so you need more. Spend $95 to buy $100 gift card and repeat, at the 181 times you become millionaire :)

        • You still don't get it do you? There is no discount buying wish card at WW, so your logic is completely wrong. Go back and read my post before replying.

  • -8

As mentioned in this post most of the discounts aren't that impressive and no better than what you can get through out loyalty or membership programs such as Entertainment Book, RAC, RACQ etc…

    • +6

You're telling me that I have to BUY an entertainment book to take advantage of that offer? Over Cashrewards which is FREE to use? Sorry your neg isn't that impressive.

    • +6

      Entertainment Book, RAC, RACQ

      Are those free to join?

      • +5

God no. If you want to cheap out on RAC/Q you'll need to shell out like $100+ per year for their basic road assistance package.

        • +4

Very happy to see yourself and others are stepping up for what’s right, god forbid a user of this website provides a FREE service to the community and gets slammed for it.

  • -6

Suncorp Benefits (Just need a suncorp bank account) is better

    For example

    Myer 6%
    BCF 10%
    Rebel 10%
    DJ 10%
    TGG 6%

    • -3

You guys are funny. First I need to purchase an entertainment book and now I need to open a bank account? What's next? Book a flight? Join a pyramid scheme?

      • +1

You guys are missing the point. We are hightlighting that there are better discounts out there to be had (with or without a requirement or signup cost).

Loads of WA and QLD residents have auto membership so for most it's not even an issue. And the membership quickly pays for itself (eg. with half price Hoyts tickets alone I would easily recoup my fees within the year).

        • +4

I don't have any of these memberships, and have no plans of buying them, and so +++ for this deal.
The more deals posted the better, and we can all compare them.
BTW posting a deal is not an easy or quick process, and so I don't think that anyone would do it 'just for fun'!

        • Not everyone lives in WA/QLD, and not everyone who lives in WA/QLD has auto membership. This isn't a case of Harvey has item for $100 delivered, Officeworks has same item for $90 Delivered nationwide, therefore I'll neg the Harvey deal. I get many student discounts, so should I neg non-student deals that are more expensive than my student discount? I saw a great deal on Bose Headphones in the Airport Duty Free shops after checking in for my flight, so should I neg the Bose eBay deal that is available for everyone?

        • +2

@lyl: so because someone disagrees the answer is to pour scorn and hatred on the neg, and downvoted all their comments? Ultimately a deal's value is subjective and should be a democratic process.

Clearly my view is in the minority this time but I find OzBargain bizarre and frustrating that so much hatred is served for negs. And comments are all downvoted regardless because of a neg vote.

This is the reason why virtually no deals recieve neg (and the homepage is often littered by crap, low-value junk from China which no one would dare downvote). HotUKDeals was much less agro in that regard (as is Reddit, Digg (back in the day) and other rated forums).

        • +2

          @ramboando:

Ozbargain is different from HotUKDeals/Reddit in that regard, please check out the Voting Guidelines. Negative votes on ozbargain are only used to signify a major issue with the deal. Many deals receive negative votes (just that you usually don't see them on the front page) and the negative votes remain, and in a lot of cases the comment will also receive upvotes as the community believes the vote is justified.
          Example
          Another Example

I don't think downvoting a comment is showing 'hate', rather expressing that the user disagrees that the negative vote is valid. After a comment receives a certain amount of negative votes, their negative vote on the deal is revoked. Please try not to take negative votes personally, they are not meant to incite hate.

crap, low-value junk from China which no one would dare downvote

I think a lot of the items from China on the front-page have 'value'. Usually if the product is 'crap' and have no use it won't receive upvotes in the first place and if theres a major issue with the product (e.g. safety issues), there's often downvotes. Just because you don't see the value doesn't mean everyone else also sees no value.

        • @ramboando:
With an 'ethical', emotion based justification, you can neg bomb any deal to oblivion

    • +2

Why didn't you pos vote the other deal then? ;)

  • Great work to the team at CR!

  • Sorry for noob question. If I buy a gift card using my credit card, would it be considered as purchase or cash advance?

    • Purchase. Id never buy a gift card if it was considered a cash advance.

  • +2

    I noticed two mean discounts:
    Myer - Save 3%
    Priceline - Save 3%

I checked my lumo rewards as today:
