  • Does anyone know where I can find the account number in woolworths mobile, to port?

    • +1

download the woolworths mobile app, login, in the my bill page, on top of the page, there is your account number.

      • I gave the same number but the guy from Optus couldnot port it.

  • Has anybody tried getting Optus to match the $200 eftpos card promotion by adding $200 credit to the bill? I really want this deal! But can't justify the extra spend without the $200

    • I Tried - Originally placed my order with Optus not knowing about the HN deal. Went on live chat and said hey just placed this can you offer some kind of credit. They would not match in any way but were happy to cancel my order no charge. So i went down to HN and got the $200 eftpos card…

      • which harvey norman did you go to?

  • Which to pick, S8 or Mate 10 Pro? Any reason why one wins out over the other?

    • i was thinking of mate 10 pro. After read some discussion online, both from oz and china. the wifi seems to have some problem (not all , but not an individual case either ). i remember many years ago i brought a huawei phone here. it had wifi problem too, tried another exchange one, both had the same problem. no support from anywhere. the only solution was get refund. according to my experience, apple and samsung are better quality overall. although huawei have done a great job these years. in this deal, i would suggest s8.

  • Anyone with iPhone 7 plus, 128gb memory like me, hesitating if we should get on this deal? Not sure the iPhone 8 with smaller memory makes the deal worthwhile. Thoughts?

    • im getting the deal purely for the sim card due to it being $20 cheaper a month than what im paying now and for more data

i dont see the iphone 8 as that much better so will likely sell it and put it towards some litecoin and hope it hits more than the price of an iphone X2 next year :D

  • I'm on Optus simonly plan and finishing up in 2 months. Exit fee is 35$, which I'm ok to pay.

Can I port to amaysim prepaid and sign up in HN for this plan! Can this all be done today?

    • I was in the same boat except my plan had finished. Got a Vodafone $2 sim this morning, ported across then walked into HN.

Got the deal including the $200 EFTPOS card.

    • I had 11 months left of my sim only plan, and they waived the fee. They will definitely wave it for yours.

  • Can anyone please help!

I am currently on a 24-month Handset plan with Optus. Has anyone in the same ship with me been able to upgrade their plan and get the $200 gift card from HN? I can live with a new number as long as I can upgrade to this plan.

    Cheers!

    • i think its only for new custumer for hn deal.

      • Bugger.

  • Mentioned the free case and screen protector in store when signing up and staff seemed to be aware of the Ozbargain receipt.

They said that the Eftpos card wasn't included on it which is why that customer got the extra goodies. I attempted to say something along the lines of "check the T's & C's in your email" but they wouldn't play ball. Seemed to be one or the other.

This was the Bridge rd Richmond store

  • I got a small student discount on my plan haha.. Am paying $55.10 for the Samsung S8.
Comes with unlimited Netflix streaming as well, which is really awesome!

    • Wth lol how did u get student Disc !!!

      • I was already registered as a student on my old contract, and it somehow carried over. But it's not 10% off, it's closer to 6% for some reason.

  • so does the final cost of the phone end up being 1.4?

    • Closest sim only plan which is $40 a month means this is around $19 in handset repayments.. So it would be about $450 for the iPhone. The whole plan comes to $1400 over 24 months

      • Ahhhh thank you . Sorry

  • I set this up with HN yesterday. Anyone else having trouble setting up direct debit using a credit card. I've used multiple browsers etc. and keep getting "unable to set up direct debit"? I've managed to save my card on the account but can't link it to direct debit.

  • Has anyone who ordered off the Optus site over the weekend had any progress on their order?

    • No, I ordered two, one just received order.no, the other for my gf even not received the confirm email yet.

      • Was that a temporary Order # or an actual Order #? Getting an Order # is a good thing, means it can be tracked on the website.

        • +1

I just spoke to Optus Sales via chat to check on my order and was told it didn't go through. So if you didn't get any confirmation email after you submitted your order maybe you should check up with them.

Got it all sorted over chat, received an order number and a text saying my upgrade has been successful.

        • @yippy:

Thanks for this — I spoke over live chat with 2 different support people, then had a phone conversation with someone, and none of them could help with my missing e-mail, order # and phone. Finally spoke to a sales guy over chat, and he mentioned the order didn't go through, and that he could process it now.

I sold one of this iPhone 8 at Facebook marketplace, the recipient claimed no phone in the box! I'm sure police will do nothing about this.

    • catfish some mafia family next time u sell on facebook

  • People porting from Vodafone there is a known issue that you can make calls from your new sim but not receive calls from non Optus services. Engineers working to resolve. There is 2 hours of my life wasted on live chat

  • +2

Previously the iPhone 8 was a $80 plan and the iPhone 8 plus $88, a eight dollar difference.
Has anyone got a iPhone 8 Plus with this deal? What was the uplift?

    • Clicking through on the website, iPhone 8 is at $59 and 8 Plus at $88, do doesn't seem like this deal is applicable.

  • How long have you guys taken to receiving anything? I upgraded my wife's plan to this one, and have only gotten a temporary order number. That was since 4 days ago….

    • +1

Had the same issue a few posts up. Spoke to them via chat and was told the order didn't go through so they did it for me over chat. Got an order number on the spot followed by a txt and email with details.

Use this chat link and click on sales if you don't want to wait on the phone.
      http://www.optus.com.au/shop/notices/service-chat/home-phone… Phone & Broadband

      • Thanks. I was on chat before, but the guy couldn't do anything and gave a phone number to call. Wife has been on hold for >35 minutes!

        • Did you chat to sales? because they can check for you, unless you got a dud service agent.

        • @yippy: I spoke with "track your order", for obvious reasons :)
But they couldn't track my order! How is that for false advertising.

          May give "sales" a shot.

        • @Make it so:

Use that chat link I had on the previous post and click on sales. Only Sales can see the temp orders and you won't be able to track the order until you have an actual order number.

        • @yippy: Right, that makes sense. Sort of :)
She spent an hour on the phone instead, and it seems to be sorted.

        • @Make it so:

I just checked my tracking and should have the phone tomorrow. Not bad considering I got the order through 9:30pm last night.

      • Really? I ordered mine last Saturday and still nothing. It says estimated delivery 1st of January 2018!

        • Yep, got my order done by sales over chat Tuesday 9:30pm got order # confirmation email and sms to say upgrade has been successful a few minutes later. Wednesday arvo my plan started switching over and the phone was sent same day. Received the phone Thursday morning.

    • I've also received no confirmation email (only the temp one) since Tuesday morning. Rang them on Thursday, and they said due to overwhelming demand, the DC is struggling with processing orders, but assured that the order was successful and said should ship on Friday. Didn't ship on Friday so I rang again today, only to be told now Monday or Tuesday, once again citing that the DC is overwhelmed at the moment.

I would have just gone into a store to order if I wasn't re-contracting, which is an online only thing that stores and telesales can't process.

  • +1

Does anyone actually want the pixel 2? I'm currently contracted with telstra however they'll let me upgrade. The only problem is id rather an iPhone 7+ from the optus deal but don't wanna pay cancellation fee from my telstra plan. If anyone wants to do a direct swap of phones, I'd be more than happy to. Pm me if anyone is keen :)

    • Can always just put it on eBay. There is free listing with no final value fees until the end of the month, I think.

    • Hey did you get the pixel2? id be keen to swap

      • I got Pixel 2 and happy to swap

  • Okay, so another question for the community: Did anyone else receive an order confirmation showing a contract cost which is discounted by 25%? My wife's confirmation shows $44.25/month, with a total minimum contract cost of $1,062. The plan shows as "$59 My Plan Plus".

She's upgrading from a $40/month plan which had a 25% discount on it (family and friends plan). Did they accidentally carry the discount across?

    • +1

No discounts on my plan but the new plan switched over yesterday and it says I'm getting 30GB/month when I check my plan details. Maybe it'll go back to 20GB after the current billing cycle. Also received the phone this morning.

      • Thanks.
What kind of plan did you come from? Does your "customer authority form" which is in the order confirmation state the full amount?

        • +1

I was on a 12 month sim plan $40 10GB data, on my form it has the correct amount. $103-$44 = $59

        • @yippy: Did you get the 25% "friends and family" discount before, paying $30 for the $40 plan?

        • @Make it so:

          Nope, I was paying $40/month.

  • hi guys, do u know which shop in optus or harvey norman that got ip8 instock, so i can signup there and take tthe ip8 home directly. thanks alot

    • +3

Making a couple of phone calls would have been quicker and more accurate than signing up to Ozbargain just to ask this question.

  • can someone please clarify whether this includes 150 international mins or is that a 5$ add on?

  • Please PM me if anyone wants to swap iphone 8 to Google Pixel 2. I have Brand new sealed one, I wanna still use iphone after whole night thought, I'm in Melbourne,Ta

  • Vodafone matching this for $59/month, inc. 20GB of data + Unlimited national calls/texts + 2200 minutes of international calling.

Apparently they previously had it for $87/month, so it has been allegedly discounted by $28/month!

    • where can find the voda promo? in website there are no such offer and i have been live chat with the cs too, they said no offer like this ol? can you tell me where to get this offer

      • I visited in-store and I'm pretty sure it would still be valid as I got it on Friday.

I saw the post here on Vodafone initially, but can no longer find it, sorry!

        • Ahh I initially had a guy give me this offer on the phone to vodafone but then he took it back! Now the best he can do is 40GB of data for $75 for 24 months.

  • Currently got a $30 for 15 GB Sim only still under contract. So I should be upgrade to this deal with an iPhone 8?

    • I just done this. Minimum break contract fee is $107 on the $30 SIM plan, which reduces by $13 or so every month you've been connected.

For me, my contract was only 2 and a bit months old, so my break fee was $73, which is apparently split into your next 3 bills.

Only down side is you can only sign up online for recontracting, and they're so unreliable. I had to ring 4 times, with a total call time of 3 hours and 20 minutes collectively, just for them to push the order through their system. Finally got it done this morning and received a tracking number just before, so glad that's out of the way.

      • Yeah Optus are horrendous to deal with. That sucks they make you pay to break the contract. I was hoping they'd let me upgrade and restart a 24 month contract. Only a couple of months into the current 12 month SIM only

I'm sure Telstra let you upgrade

        • +1

          Yeah, Telstra let you off.

Don't take my word as gospel though. I'm just re-spewing what the service agent told me.

The PDF re-contracting form they sent me doesn't say anything about my break contract fee, so here's hoping I've been let off.

Happy to pay it if not though. Mate 10 Pro was the phone I was looking at buying outright anyway, so still leaves me better off, and with much more data inclusion.

        • +1

It may be possible to upgrade your SIM only plan. Did so for my wife, who had 3 months to go. Somehow it even carried the 25% discount across from the previous plan. Try it online.

    • I was also on an Optus BYO plan an they let me upgrade to the $59 phone plan without paying off any break fees (I still had a few months left on the contract).

  • I haven't read all the comments so sorry if duplicate.

You can get this deal and upgrade the phone in 12 months for $99 if a better phone on a better deal is available.

    http://smb.optus.com.au/opfiles/Shop/All/cis/Cis%20Documents…

    http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/samsung/galaxy-s8…

    it says:

    How your plan works
If you use more than your included data during your billing
month (either on your mobile phone or any connected mobile/
mobile broadband device), we’ll automatically give you another
1GB for $10. Each time you use all of your data inclusion we’ll
give you another 1GB for $10, up to a maximum of 150GB
additional data on one account per month. Your service may
then be restricted or we may continue to charge you at these rates.

    • Edit

This plan includes the option of New Phone Trade Up. So after 12 months on this plan, you have the option to pay a one-off
fee of $99, return your original mobile handset to Optus in good working order and purchase a new mobile handset on a new
24 month plan. You will also need to sign a separate agreement with our second hand vendor to transfer ownership of your
original mobile handset. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your original mobile handset, you can simply pay out the full
remaining cost of your mobile handset, including any monthly handset credit that Optus was going to cover. You are under
no obligation to use the New Phone Trade Up option and this option is only available to new and recontracting customers
from 11 March 2016. For further information please go to optus.com.au/newphonetradeup

      • Yeah they put this in their plan and when we want to use it they make it so difficult to make use of this $99 upgrade. The plans they offer in store suck compared to the online plans.

        • This is so true, I am trying to take up this plan currently but they are not allowing it. They want me to pay $480 instead of $99. Can anyone confirm if this is available in store or is it online only?

        • @Punter01: have been offerd this plan in store - but ended up getting it over the phone.

        • have been offered this plan in store - but ended up getting it over the phone.

  • This is seriously the worst telco I have ever dealt with, Optus is utterly useless, ordered the i8 for my missus on the day of the deal, in live chat I wanted to change to this deal. The operator sent me two wrong CIS’ before even getting it right, I gave her a new address to deliver the phone to. Today I find out that she gave the wrong address on the order, which is now stuck at StarTrack HQ because the delivery address isn’t even valid. On the phone to Optus now and stuck in a 30 minute queue, what a joke.

Thank god im getting away from these clowns soon.

  • To hop on this or wait for iPhone 8 Plus deal :\

  • Is there any way to get both the Mate 10 Pro and $200 card from HN?

    • Yep…time machine

      • wow dude, howd you become so witty!

fortunately i have one of these time machines and now have a mate 10 pro being shipped from optus when dealing with HN a few hours ago

        • With the voucher a week after the offer ended? Good effort!

Ps. The wit probably comes from years of reading ozbargain comments!

        • So you got the $200 gift card? I only managed to get a $100 item after much haggling.

  • I am on 2 year contract but my plans let’s me upgrade after a year. Do you guys think I’m eligible for upgrade to iPhone 8? Also is this online only deal? And when is last date of this offer.

  • +1

Hi guys, currently paying $105 a month for iphone 7 and less data with optus. They said when I signed up I can do a $99 new phone trade up when a new iphone becomes available as long as I have been on the plan for 12 months and I re-contract for 24 months. I want to upgrade to change to the Iphone 8 with this plan but they are not allowing me. I tried instore and they said I had to do it online and then I tried online and they said it is not possible. I don't know what to do from here I feel like they are breaching the contract. It does not say anywhere here that I cannot take up this offer: http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobile/phones/new-phone-trade-u…

Apologies but I feel people should know before signing up to a plan and not being able to change after 12 months. What should I do from here? Thanks in advance

    • I am in the same situation as you. The whole reason I signed up to a 24 month phone plan was because of the $99 trade up. I was on $25 10GB plan before going onto my S7 plan.

Now more than 12 months later a nice deal comes along and I want to upgrade to the S8 but no not allowed as part of this deal. I speak to chat they say go in store. Store says go online. So I keep going in circles.

They have not mentioned it anywhere that you can not use the $99 Trade up towards this plan. They should have included it in the CIS for the plan.

They want me to payout the handset for around $400 when I keep telling them make it $99

      • thanks for this info.

  • Any one got any luck with Trade Up??? And Optus Rep here, Help Christmas is coming :(

  • S8 on backorder and iPhone 8 out of stock

  • +1

Does anyone know if the Harvey Normal Eftpos deal is still up? Is there a link?

    • Yes please if anyone knows??

      • I was able to check with Harvey and they confirmed that they don't have this offer anymore…

  • +3

    Went on live chat,

They have run out of iPhone 8s, but will put you on a waiting list if you ask. Likewise, for $5 more a month, you can upgrade to the 8 plus

    • iPhone 8 plus for $64 that is insane, thanks!

      • It is only 64GB, but considering spotify is unmetered data usage, as well as netflix, it is plenty for me.

        Jumped on it.

        • How does the waiting list work? Do they sign you up to the contract and will then send out the phone when they have stock?

        • @pizzip:

No idea. They asked if I was a new customer and offered me the Plus for $5 more.

  • Can anyone confirm whether Optus Sport subscription was included in the $59 plan? I'm positive it was when i signed up but now appear to have that +$15 added to my bill. Now the deal is gone i can't find the page to print screen. I'll speak to Optus but wondering if anybody else had issue?

  • Hey Guys, is this optus offer still valid?
