    • bill here was 78.40 for two 18.75 plans with the september offer, optus cs is horrible

  • Anyone who is currently on an Optus contract had any luck re-contracting (for another 12 months) with this deal?

    • I'm on a month to month plans, they refused to do it twice. Tomorrow I'm getting a Telstra sim to port out/in

  • On page 1, shkippy said you have to port out to another telco, then order this deal online, and wait for the Optus SIM to arrive in the mail before porting back in again. This means waiting several days unable to make calls.

Does anyone have a way around that? (Can you order this deal as a 'new customer' even though you're already one, then port out and back in again?)

i.e. Do you have port out before you can even order this SIM?

    • How about grab a Telstra/Vodafone sim and wait til the Optus sim arrives. Then port to the temporary sim then to Optus. All going well it shouldn't take long, atleast not days.

      • Well, yeah that's what you'd like to do… But the way shkippy describes it back on page 1, it sounds like you have to enter the phone number you want to port to Optus, when you first order the Optus plan. If that is true, then you'd have to port out before/while you're ordering the Optus SIM - so you have a non-Optus number to enter (in order to qualify as a new customer).

So anyone know which it is?

        a) You have to enter the number you're porting to Optus at the same time you apply for the Optus plan?
        b) You can enter the number you're porting to Optus AFTER you receive the Optus SIM in the mail?

        • Yep gotcha. Sorry misread it. Interested to know this also

    • Hey get them to port you to optus prepaid and then back to postpaid. No mucking around with Sims or numbers.
That's what I did to become a "new customer".
      Ridiculous but it works.
      See my post above

    • You don't have to port out, just instantly switch to prepaid. a few hours, maybe next day, sign up for this contract. I did it a couple of months ago.

      • How do you "instantly switch to prepaid"?

The support rep said it would take 7 days?

        • I contacted live chat this morning, got a confirmation email early afternoon and about one hour ago a text message and immediately after the text my postpaid service was suspended. I'm still waiting for the prepaid service to kick in.

        • @GregFiona: I just signed up for postpaid seconds after I contacted live support. The order is currently pending credit check.

        • Was told 24hrs.. 12hrs ago.. No change

        • @Shwayne: I’m still
waiting for the prepaid tombe activated(live chat just said it will take 15min to 4hours, it’s been 3 hours so far). Hopefully will be signing up for this deal tomorrow morning

        • @GregFiona: They said 7 days for me. :(

        • @Shwayne:

port has changed and active this morning

        • @droodle: Postpaid failed for me, they reviewed it and still consider me to be an existing customer.

        • @Shwayne: try pre-paid then

        • @GregFiona: I did, they won't let me upgrade, and now I lost my existing plan.

    • Yes just port to Telstra and port back.

  • -1

It appears refreshing too much (or leaving bad customer service scores) will get your ip blocked from the live chat. (Or they genuinely have no agents anymore!)

  • Great deal. Seems like they've finally brought back the TV streaming.

  • For those of you that have moved to the pre paid deal to be able to get this deal, what pre paid deal are you doing that works out cheapest? Thanks

    • $2 pre-paid - which has changed as of this morning so took 15hrs or so .. will open new account for $30 later today - what a faff !

      • thanks for that. where you able to keep the same number? so just post a $2 sim and then asked them to change the number to yours? just trying to figure out how it all works. thanks.

        • Yep same number.. Ask to port to prepaid online

        • @droodle: This has resulted in lost service, I do not recommend trying it.

They also rejected the order because I am not a new customer.

        • @Shwayne:

hmm ok .. so i really do need to port to Telstra - currently running on my $2 sim at the mo !
I read some people here had sucessfully done this.

        • @droodle: Hopefully it works for you, I've been on the phone for 2 hours trying to work out what happened to my service.

  • +1

Just to add, I went with online chat and managed to port my existing numbers to this package. although the fine print says new number only.
If anybody wants to port, give a try chatting with the reps. It was a very good and seamless experience for me.

    • Do you know who you spoke with at all? Thanks

      • Brendan was the name. The conversation I had was 1100 at night

    • +1

weve all tried and failed - most of us .. except a very lucky few - congrats

  • i thought this deal included int calls - looks like its an extra $5 ?

  • I have just had another look at this deal and now under the 'i'm with optus' tab it has a buy new plan option and it lets me grown through with my current number. i'm currently on a sim only deal that is month to month. do you think if I click confirm I will get this deal on my current number?

    • Does it have the 25% off on the page once you click I'm with Optus? Because I tried doing this with wife's month to month plan but once you click I'm with Optus, the page refreshes and the discount disappears(becomes $40)

      • +1

        Only new + from prepaid.

  • -2

anyone with edu mail can transfer me code

  • After I select "keep my existing number" and sign up, are they going to port my number straight away? Or I wait for the sim card delivered, activate the card then number get ported?

Either way, usually how long does it take? …. to be specific I'm with vaya ATM.

    • you will probably have to wait for them to run the credit check first then send the sim card etc. I was on a month to month Optus Plan and switched to optus prepaid(it took them 36 hours to tranfer the service and because they stuffed up something I had no service for 24hours). Once the prepaid service was activated I signed up for this $30 deal, had to give them my employment details, for the credit check and now…I’m just waiting! In the meantime the pre-paid service is working fine, I’m an a 2$ daily plan

      • ive done the same .. switching to prepaid was painless and took 12hrs - then i was given a temporary order number for the new $30 deal - and haven't heard anything since …

        • annnnd success .. i have been ported to new $40 for $30 12M sim - took a 90 min !! wait on phonecall and the system was still showing me as postpaid when i'd been on pre-paid for 2 days but they got there in the end - have your new pre-paid acct handy (its in the optus app)

          GL

        • @droodle: my optus app doesn’t work since I moved to pre-paid, it’s asking me to contact live chat throught the app…that’s not working since I moved to pre-paid!!!

        • @GregFiona:

Didn't work for me for a day then was fine

        • @GregFiona: I had to top up with $10 to get anywhere, sigh.

        • @Shwayne: I have recharged $20 as I’m on the $2 daily plan and I know they aren’t going to activate the new plan before next week…

        • @GregFiona: $10 on the ultimate prepaid gets you 7 days, should do the trick.

        • @Shwayne: Thanks Shwayne but I’m afraid that somehow it will take more than 7 days for the pre-paid ti be activated.

        • @GregFiona: I contacted them again, they say that prom optus post-paid to pre-paid it usually takes 8-10 business days!!! I should have my service in 48 hours. If it's not active by Friday I might contact and cancel and sign up for the $59 Iphone 8 deal, then sell the iphone 8 and …make some money :)

  • How long do these sim cards take to get delivered? My order was processed on 12th and I have simply not heard from optus since then!!!!

    • Same. Feel like I did something won't and won't get dick from this

      • So I went to the optus store and called them with reference number and they 'processed' my order. Should get the sim card by Friday. They have lots of pending orders apparently.

        Thanks
        J

        • Good to know. The comments here made Optus sound unreliable. I'll follow your advice.

Seriously though, I feel Australian companies are getting really bad at doing things without being harassed..

    • +1

Have you got any order numbers yet? Not the temporary one but the confirmed one? If not I suggest you contact them again, here is my story so far:

I got the temporary order no via email on the 13/12 after doing a credit check online, and until the 27/12 I have contacted live chat at least 12 times.I have been instructed to wait 24/48 hours, 15min to 4 hours even 3-5 working days. On the 27/12 I called the 1300 no and spoke to a very nice lady who said she could not find my temporary order number. Also she said there is an issue because my account appears twice, on their new system as well as their old system(?). The only workaround to bypass the delay was to activate a new sim card(keeping the same no)so she did a credit check on the spot and she had a new sim card sent to me and I received a confirmed order no on the same day.The sim arrived last Thursday with the "generic" instructions so I went online and tried to activate it but I got a message saying I need to activate it via live chat or by calling 133937. I contacted live chat and I was told the sim is pre-activated(!) and I was asked to remove my old sim(that's still on optus prepaid) and insert the new one in the phone. The sim was not active(of course) and the live chat person told me to wait 4 hours, max 24 hours. The next day I called the 1300 no. again because my prepaid old sim was still active, I had to wait 80 minutes on the line and eventually someone picked up(19:09) just to tell me that the activation team had closed for the day(19:00) She promised me she would give me a call on Saturday morning and a member from the activation team would have a look at my issue. I didn't receive any call back so on Saturday afternoon I spoke to the rudest Optus rep so far(after waiting 75 minutes on the phone) who copped it really bad and she had to pass me on to her manager. After losing my $hit on the manager too, he promised the service will be active by Tuesday 2/2/18.
      Happy New Year :)

similar story .. in the end someone said right I'll sort it and just switched over the sim already in the phone (the old prepaid sim) so haven't even needed the new sim they sent !! Incompetent the lot of em !

        • Who did you contact to get that working?

      • I had exactly the same thing, I'm fairly sure they've got us marked down as Ozbargainers in the customer notes based on what we tried to do (prepaid -> signup) and are stringing us along as a joke.

I hope I have no issues porting out as I'd hate to involve the TIO.

        • The funny thing is that because I was initially on an Optus Month to Month post paid contract, I was instructed my Optus live chat to port to Optus prepaid and then go back on Post paid.
I'm on live chat with an activation team member, she told me that my order is stuck in the system and that she needs to contact IT.
Update: I was just told that this issue has to be escalated because IT cannot fix it!!! It will take max 3 days to be fixed. What a joke :)

        • @GregFiona: It's not going to get fixed, port the (profanity) out of Optus, I'm going with Kogan.

        • @Shwayne: I'm not porting out before I contact TIO and ACCC :)

        • @GregFiona: Zing ported out to Telstra on the $200 gift card + $10 discount deal.

        • +1

          @Shwayne:
Sorry for not responding. Unfortunately my optus sim are still not active. Will try them today and if they can't fix it, I will cancel the order.
Is the virgin mobile deal still available?
Atleast I know how incompetent they are before signing up.
          Happy new year all

        • @jacharya: They are still working on activating mine! In the meantime they offered me $20 credit while I'm still on a $2 daily prepaid plan

        • +1

          @GregFiona:
They finally sorted it out. Got a call from their back office who said they were having issues with porting. That person set up the service activation and porting and service was active in an hour.

All thanks to the rep in optus store at bourke St mall who called all the different departments to find out the actual status and made sure someone was actually working to resolve the issue.

          Thanks
          Jignesh

        • @jacharya: Thanks for the heads up! I’m still waiting for the confirmation of the last “temporary” order, it’s been more than 2 days now.
In the meantime, Optus has managed to stuff up my other Optus mobile contract!!! I did a trade up 2 weeks ago(swapped my Iphone 7plus for an Iphone X and went on a $130 plan) I received the first bill yesterday and they have charged me an extra $234 (1/3 installment) and not the $99 trade up fee! I visited the local Optus store where I swapped the 7plus, they called the billing department and because they cannot amend the current biil, they gave me $609
credit(236x3 my 7plus worth -$99 the trade up fee)!!!

        • @GregFiona: UPDATE!!! Postpaid is working as of yesterday afternoon 12/1 but my online Optus account is not updated yet and the Optus app is not working yet(I receive the pin via sms but it doesn't log me in)

        • +1

          @GregFiona:
Lucky you. I still haven't even received a temporary order number, let alone a confirmation email. This is after I was told I had to cancel and re-order 4 days ago. They said allow 24-48 hours for processing.

        • @dubcmj:

My order on 27 Dec was completed yesterday. Got my first $30 bill this morning.

Very happy although it has been a very hard work to get on this plan.

        • @trump3:
Yeah it's not easy. My initial order was placed on 22 Dec.

  • Are there multi line discounts?

For example, if i sign up for 3 different lines.

  • Has anyone had any luck getting Telstra to match the price and data package?

    • +1

Can you post a link with Telstra's price match policy?

  • +2

Moved from vaya to optus. I didn't think anyone's customer service could be worse than vayas, Optus have certainly proved me wrong.

  • Did anyone actually get their Optus Sim?

I can't remember what I did for this deal. Hope I didn't pay something already

  • Yep got a new sim sent out then they just activated the old one …

  • +2

I signed up for this deal 18 days ago. Live chat have repeatedly told me to wait for my confirmation email (with no time frame given). I've spent approximately 8 hours on hold while making 4 phone calls to Optus support, with each of those calls proving to be equally useless. The final call was two days ago, when "Angela" promised to fix it for me and call me back within the day with an update (she never called back).

I've asked for them to top up my Optus prepaid credit, but they refused that request.

I've previously had experiences with Telstra, Yomojo, Yatango, Amaysim and none of those companies have ever annoyed me in any way. I'm struggling to understand the level of incompetence being displayed by Optus.

I would absolutely be trying to cancel this deal, except that I have a friend who is happy to pay me $15 a month for my Optus Sport login (which I never use), leaving me with a $15 monthly fee for 15GB.

Oh, and on each of my 4 phone calls, they start by playing a recorded message which says something like, "expected wait time for this call is over 1.5 hours. Due to this, we may not be able to answer your call".

    Fun times with Optus.

    • +1

Similar scenario here: signed up 13 of December and I got a temp order no. that 2 weeks down the track Optus couldn't even find in their systems. On the 27/12 I spoke to an Optus rep who sent me my new CIS and gave me a new confirmed order number(went through credit check again over the phone). The next day I received a new sim card and since then I have spent more than 12 hours on live chat and phone calls.I'm currently on another(lost count) live chat with optus since 19:44. Tonight I was told that my order was cancelled(last week I was told Optus systems are stuffed up and they have escalated this to the IT team and they gave me a ticket no) and the live chat rep asked me to go in store(!) and activate one of the existing plans LOL. I am now chatting with the"supervisor named Jan.
      I'M NOT HAPPY JAN!
At least last week I got $20 credit to use with my optus prepaid

UPDATE: after 3 hours of chat I was instructed to activate a NEW $40 plan(online, go thru another credit check, get a temp order number and…wait) and they will refund me $10/month to match the xmas sale!

      • +1

Same thing has happened to me. Wait 3 weeks for the order confirmation email, only to be told the order has been cancelled due to an error with the new systems. The rep has told me the order needs to be placed again in the correct system.

I have been assured by "Mike" that the new order will be identical to the previous one, and will be processed within 48 hours. He also promised to keep me updated "from time to time". I am highly skeptical of his claims, but we'll wait and see what happens.

        • Now online chat is telling me that the order was cancelled, but a new order was never placed. Cheers, "Mike".
