What Happened to The Laptop Deals? Son's Grad Present + Xmas, Likes Actual L/R Click Buttons, Light Gaming

So, right as I had thought he would never ever part with his beloved, circa 2010 Toshiba, today he says he might have to upgrade (broken fan guard, hinges loose, left-click button not working).

I have no idea why, but so many laptops have moved to that irritating, "AIO" touchpad/buttons! I hate it, he hates it with a passion.

He games a bit- nothing hard-core, mainly online (LoL & Shadowverse), though might use it for more if it had the ability. He likes a million tabs open, Skype running, etc.

He watches YT vids, not much more.

He's a good kid, but mum doesn't have deep pockets. I want to find something great for cheap (we all do, I know). He already has an SSD in his that we might be able to re-purpose to the new one.

If any are out there atm that you all think look good according to this criteria, please do reply. We have TGG, JB, & HN here.

    You also have the internet. Wait for a Dell or Lenovo sale for more options, they come regularly enough.

    Couple of things

    1. Buying a laptop from JB /HN/TGG is a terrible idea. You just get stock standard crap(in general).

    2. You say cheap - what’s cheap? $2500 for a decent gaming laptop could be considered cheap

    Maybe you can post back with some ideal specs? Straight off the bat I’d say SSD , min 16GB. RAM , dedicated graphics card.

    Dell outlet is always a good option to go through when looking for a fair price

    I've looked at Dell outlet— nothing spectacular there atm….as well as online sales— pretty bleak!

    I only mentioned the retailers as sometimes they price-match other deals.

    I'm trying to stay at around $1000 (single mum, low pay).

      its pretty obvious

      they're out to milk people before xmas

      we're in a dead zone… not quite black friday, not quite boxing day sales

      if you're buying now they think you're a wood duck who needs it before the 24th so you're gonna pay

      just wait… i bet it goes crazy on the 26th and to the dead zone of january

        Agree. They all are sitting on "old" stock but saving it for after Xmas.
