Or at the momnet you can get the $30 mobile sims for $5 on the Optus website (shipped express post free of charge). These also include 10GB on the first topup and are valid for 28 days.

The offer ends 3 Jan 2018

That's not for prepaid mobile broadband..

But can still be used in a mobile broadband device…

        • Oh, OK wasn't aware of that. :)

    • Great find. Can this $5 sim be used for long expiry?

      • Yep. It's possible to activate on long expiry as well. In fact here are the different Options that you could activate the $5 (actually a $30 pack on):

Prepaid Ultimate Plus - 10GB data, 10GB Video Data (Netflix, Stan and ABC iView), Unmetered Music (Google Play and Spotify), Unlimited Talk/Text and $5 extra credit for use with roaming or international calls all valid for 28 days

My Prepaid Daily Plus - $30 credit valid for 168 days. Each day you use data (even just 1KB), make a call or send a text you're charged $2. You then get 500MB data, Unlimited Calls/Texts and Unmetered Music Streaming until Midnight (ADET Sydney/Melbourne Time). Extra Data is $2 per 500MB

My Prepaid Long Expiry - $30 credit valid for 168 days. Data is 5c per MB, Calls 20c per Min, Texts 20c per message. It's also possible to purchase add on packs 500mb data for $5, 1.5GB data for $10 and 200 mins of calls for $5

        Optus actually cycle the discounts.

It'll either be $5 for $30 sim or $10 for $40 sim. They alternate them but for the last 4-5 months there has always been one or the other on sale. But you must activate the sim within 30 days or you risk losing your credit.

    • Do you have to recharge to get the bonus 7gb or does the included $30 count as a recharge? Trying to decide which plan gives the most data.

      • The 7GB bonus data comes when you activate the sim.

Technically the $30 credit is counted as a recharge so assuming you're activating a new sim or porting in from a different provider then you'll get the 7GB bonus when you first activate the sim.

Subsequent recharges will only get you 3GB data and you can't say but this sim with the $30 credit and then purchase an additional $30 top up with the hope of activating it on the $60 plan (it just won't work).

        • Fantastic, thanks for explaining

    • Offer ends 3 Jan 2018 but do we know if there's any time limit on when to activate?
