Galax GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB from FUTU for $162 after POWERUP code applied. Looking to upgrade to a 1050ti, is this one decent?

  • +1

Wait.. I just got the MSI GTX 1080 Ti from FUTU for $863.. that was more than 20% off. Neat!

  • +1

It seems my order came down to a 28% off?

The 10% offered by the seller and the 20% off offered by ebay?

    1-0.9*0.8=0.28

    • -3

This code is for 20% off the price.

      • -2

You mean off that 10% offed price?

I just successfully placed my order with the price stated above.

nvm, got downvoted for revealing the truth :p

edit: thanks for eliminating the downvote, cheers! True bargainers win!

        • You post is misleading and makes people think you got 28% off instead of 20% off. The code is 20% only. Various stores may have % off as well, but some are also inflated RRP so its not accurate.

    • Can confirm this +1, got a great deal on an asus router lol

    • Futu left the 10% off storewide up for a bit after the 20% off coupon was activated. It was removed pretty quick though :P

  • Order now before the pricejacking/cancelled-early begins.

  • Ugh. PCByte removed all stock of the 1070's I was looking at, only leaving the more expensive options up. At least it's not just jacking though (unless that's coming later :P)

  • +1

thanks, picked up the AORUS 1080ti from futu for cheap (like $880), as they still have the 10% code on the store!

  • This is not applicable on the Bose Sounbar 300. What shame:(

  • +3

LOl they delete the bose qc35ii deal (both ebay and ozbargain) and repost it with higher $467

  • +1

my-phonez jacked up the price of airpods to $292. $292 - 20% = $233, $4 more than going in and buying them directly from apple…

  • +2

Just a warning- many of the sellers are closed until after christmas and some for a couple of weeks - "This seller is currently away, and isn't processing orders at this time. You can add this item to your watch list to purchase later."

  • Anyone knows if products sold by Shopping Express or Futu Online have GST content?

    Thanks

    • Answer to my own question:

      Yes, they do.

  • The seller of this item is on holiday. If you wish to purchase this item, please contact the seller and ask to be notified when they return.

  • +1

Soooo tempted with the Hisense 65N7 for $1555 after CR. Lowest price I've seen it for.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hisense-65-65N7-ULED-TV/33224636…

    • $1571 before cashrewards…

This code is valid till Boxing Day, so it's possible it'll drop a little more…

      • +1

Too good to be true, seller just jacked up the price.

  • Who funds this discount? Would it be half from ebay themselves and half from the seller?

    • With site wide discount deals, eBay pays it. With these sponsered discount pseudo-deals, the sponsered companies do pay something to be a part of it.

      • I thought it was 50-50.

Which is why they raise the prices so it's slightly cheaper after the discount.

It means they get the same net return from the sale, and eBay pays for the "discount" portion of it.

    • Who funds this discount? Would it be half from ebay themselves and half from the seller?

The retailer funds it all and to add to the pain eBay charge them FVF on the price before the discount is applied.

      • If they are not happy with ebay they have all the right not be involved in any ebay sales…I am sure ebay doesn't force any of them to be involved in the sale…

  • +24

    I did it guys!

I contacted Treasure PC Online and stated that we were going to report them to the ACCC.

They reverted back to their original prices on all of their listings.

    E.g.
Razer DeathAdder Elite: $92 (Before) -> $82 (After)
    Razer BlackWidow X Chroma: $165 (Before) -> $149 (After)

    Now PC Byte is next.

    • +2

      Study law and save $$$!

    • Yeah but other stores don't bother with expensive items like smartphones.

  • +3

Those dogs (my-phonez) had the note 8 for $1199 now jacked up to 1604.25
I wouldnt even deal with that sort of bussiness practice

    • +1

Report it to ebay please…that is the only way these dodgy stores will stop this practice…I have reported - Amaysim, Allphones already….

  • +2

avgreatbuys price jacked a bunch of things, QC35's where $424 now they are $467 =(

    • raise it with ebay…I have raised few complaints so they will pull up the stores that do this as it gives ebay bad reputation….

    • +1

I contacted them on this; it's borderline bullshit they do this.

I just linked the Kogan penalty on the ACCC website stating that this is what you're likely infringing with this practice.

Hopefully I can get a reply and they'll lower the price.

      • +3

They won't do shit I think….these stores don't care….but in all this they are giving ebay bad reputation so ebay is dealing strictly with them I think..Report all these dodgy sellers as much as you can:

Here is how to report a Seller: 1. Log into eBay.com.au 2. Click on 'Help & Contact'' at the top of your screen ( next to 'Sell') 3. Choose 'Contact Us' at the bottom of your screen. 4. Click on 'Buying' topic. 5. Then please click on 'Other Buying problems'. You will then find the option to Report the Seller.

        • I have already reported Amaysim and Allphones(which is another name for mobileciti):

          https://imgur.com/0XFvIwr

        • +5

Got a reply from avgreatbuys stating that they were on a promotion before the sale and now the price is back up to 'regular' pricing for the sale.

I just said I'm reporting for misleading and deceptive conduct anyway and if they're in the clear there's nothing to worry about.

FeelsBad, I really wanted the QC35's at 340; especially if I could get Officeworks to price match.

        • @ytneni: Ebay customer support rep told me they can see all the price changes a company has been doing on ebay so if they did price jack since yesterday or today they would be pulled up by ebay(hopefully)…

        • Hi there,
Couldn't locate 'Other Buying problems' under 'Buying' topic. Could you tell me where exactly the option is to click on?

I'd like to report Allphones as well. Now for Iphones, they listed it at a more expensive price than Apple official website.

        • @ja912son: Sure…if you open the actual item, scroll down a bit and on the right hand side it says "Report item". Click on that and then choose 'listing practices' - 'Fraudulent listing activies - then choose 'Seller is using other accounts to inflate item price'. When ebay come back to you asking for more feedback advise them Allphones and Mobileciti are same stores on ebay with different stores, even the official site of All phones redirects you to Mobileciti. So basically Mobileciti has created a sneaky way to get around sales. When ebay asks them if they want to be involved in sales they only involve their Allphones store which has already inflated prices.

        • @kiwiinoz:

Thanks a lot. Have reported the issue. For the same Iphone 8 64G, Mobileciti lists at $1,049. Allphones Ebay lists at $1153, which is more expensive than Apple Aus. The same things goes with Huawei P10 plus, $787 at Mobileciti and $866 at Allphones Ebay.

        • +1

@ja912son: I agree they are just trying to rip off during ebay sales by being clever…I hope ebay does something about the issue of price jacking….

        • @ytneni:

FeelsBad, I really wanted the QC35's at 340; especially if I could get Officeworks to price match.

Officeworks are not going to price match.

  • +1

lol, reverse engineering at its best. Work out what price you want to sell it for and then add 20%.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8-Midnight-Bl…

  • What a bunch of horse piddle. I did a search yesterday for a Rode Videomicro and added it to my cart. Go to pay for it and the 'Code is not valid for this item'

    Basically they pulled it.

  • Its funny how all the bargains from this coupon didnt even last for more than an hour from it going live.

  • WOW .. Samsung Galaxy S8 is $711 ; cheapest I found so far.

    • Accidentally clicked Buy It Now on one months ago for $668 delivered (was just seeing what the final price would be, oops!).

    • What store was this in?

      • VAYA

        • I see.. Grey Import by the looks of it.. Im looking for Aussie Stock..

        • @ant75a:
What is the advantage of Aussie stock than Grey? Honest question.

How much would you value SGS Aussie stock on top of Grey SGS8?

        • +1

Nothing against grey.. Ive purchased these before. However I want Aussie this time round. Advantages - I want to be able to take phone into Samsung store if it breaks or if I have an issue. Much quicker then waiting for phone to be sent back to Asia. Ive had these issues before but this is dependent on merchant and if they have spares in stock..

        • +1

          @tempura:

Another advantage is that Samsung Pay normally only works with Aussie stock (for Australian credit cards).

  • So much dodgy going on with these 20% off sales. Sure there are some things genuinely on special, but a lot of the pricer items (e.g. high-end smartphones) have all had their prices jacked to make up for the "discount".

  • +2

All of my orders got cancelled from two sellers (the ones that had the extra 10% discount) claiming that it is "out of stock".

    Futuonline & ShoppingExpressClearance.

    Pretty poor effort.

    • +1

Better than mine, they cancelled and said buyer asked to cancel. Err, no I didn't.

      • +1

They sent me a message saying it is out of stock. Then they cancelled and claimed I asked to cancel.

        (shoppingexpressclearance)

        • Yeah same here. Only on the order where it was 10% sale + 20% coupon.

        • @lithius: Best to call up eBay and file a complaint.

eBay has said they can see it for numerous number of orders and they shouldn't be doing that.

          Dodgy as.

    • +2

      Same here.

Ordered a PC monitor this morning from Futu Online. Got an email saying order cancelled, reason "Buyer asked to cancel the order." I didnt ask them to cancel. Send off a message to Futu Online asking for an explanation and this is what I got.

"Unfortunately there was a bug in the system. You should be able to order it again with the eBay coupon code, the coupon code should be working properly now."

Edit : got another response saying "We had to cancel all the morning orders because of the coupon code issues." - Futu Online.

Looks like theyve cancelled the whole lot of orders from this morning because they forgot to take down the existing voucher before the 20% off voucher.

  • +2

the best thing to do is put a few items on your watch list at around 4am the day after the sale ends you get a whole bunch of emails from eBay stating that the prices have changed all at once… like it was magically timed and all prices get lowered again

I guess that alone is proof the stores have it set to lower the prices as soon as it finishes

I have sent loads of info to the ACCC, no reply, no follow up, they simply dont care

    • Yep, I noticed this as well. ACCC is a joke now. Only taking these corporations to the court will fix issues like this.

      • It took 2 years to get the accc to do msy again for warranty breaching.

How long do you think it will take to do anything about price changing?

Get rid of the accc, and save taxpayer money cuz they do nothing for us.

  • why does this have so many votes when theres literally no deals ?

  • 1TB 650 SSD's 30 dollars cheaper than MSY on a normal day…and amazon sells them for the same price…
for me, not worth buying in this "20% off(?)" sale…
1080's can be had for the same price at amazon US often see them for about 499USD. (without the sale - if amazon has a sale they will be much cheaper.) - some 1080s go for about 650…

This on the other hand seems pretty reasonable:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172909789085

  • +1

I bought a few things for a mining pc, but having checked real PC stores sites directly to see what proper prices are, you know what this sale really is?

"$10 off a $400 item and free shipping which wouldn't have been more than $25 for your $3k order anyway".

    Sad.

    • Yeah I am buying a new PC so on say 6 parts so far I only really saved $65 (compared to other's normal prices) + postage cost which does add a bit seeing as though I'm in regional NSW.

If they had've honoured my original order where I double dipped with the 10% + 20% it would have been better.. but noo.

      • +1

RAM is so expensive these days

        • Was certainly a shock seeing the price of it nowadays, I seem to recall last time I built it was cheap as chips.

  • No good ipad deal :(. Prices are inflated.

    • -1

      Report to ebay….

    • I bought an iPad Pro 64gb for $711.20. Price locally at apple is $979.

      • Which seller on eBay? Compare the price with the previous deals and not the RRP at Apple store. Apple store has the highest price for Apple products.

        • Vaya, was $895 the day before sale started, remained at $895 after sale started. Have already got the shipping tracking number.

Here is the full ipad pro 10.5 64gb search page from the night before. Shoppingsquare and my-fonez later increased their prices - https://imgur.com/Id03VJj

Best price I saw in previous deals was $697.59 from dick smith a while back.

  • Any iPhone deals? Already bought two using the 5% off code, if 20% works its a deal

    • +1

Nah every seller has jacked up their price….5% off is not a deal at all I think…

      • I think its more of a 10% deal off grey stock (1 yr warranty).

This iPhone 8 64GB vaya deal for example, it is grey stock. Looking at the price history it's original price seems to be $971, which is 10% cheaper than the official apple price of $1079 (2 yr warranty).

Vaya jacked their price to $1079. Taking 20% off of that gives $863.20, which is pretty much 10% off vaya's original grey stock price $971.

But then again - based on the feedback history there's no telling what to expect in the actual package!

        • I have been waiting for ages for iphone 8 and a 20% off sale on ebay but the idiots ruined the fun for me….lol

  • So dodgy and illegal to do so, needs to be reported to the accc.

  • No Oneplus 5T :(

    • There is from HK

      • Are you sure? I checked using search link and couldn't find one. Only oneplus 5. Can you link what you found?

        • My bad, it is 5.

    • There's a couple listed now, but the seller looks super dodgy.

      • yes price jacked up by around $100 for the 128GB model ($919 compared to $802 cheapest found in normal ebay search). Using the 20% off code would just make it about the same with gearbest/lightinthebox/banggood

        • Yeah, but with "Australian Warranty" - if it was any other seller I'd jump on it!

  • +1

Allphones iPhone X 256GB silver and grey with 20% off the inflated $2089 eBay price takes it to $1671.19….U won’t find cheaper at this stage.

Note: silver colour out of stock now. A handful of greys left.

Don’t forget 1% cash rewards cashback (on $2089).

Tax invoice also supplied, AU stock as well. Good for those with business to claim GST back.

    • do you have a link?

  • videopro_online increased the price of the LG 55” OLED55B7T B7 OLED Smart TV by $100 AFTER the promo started - so they copped 26 orders at the lower price before they made the adjustment, including 7 sales in the first 3 mins :)

  • Anyone ordered from mighty ape and has problem applying the coupon code?

iPhone 32gb SE $380 after coupon. Most likely Australian model.(please don’t cry to me if it’s not). Less if you claim the TRS.

    Last one.

Shopmonk have it for $361. That’s definitely grey and Shopmonk.

    • Gone.

  • Was excited to get a deal on the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum but the seller I was watching jacked it up $40 :(

    • +2

I contacted on of the sellers who did this for the robotic vacuums, they said:

      "
      Thank you for your query.

Please understand that the item price is subject to change depending on the cost of the actual item and other factors such as the listing fee, postage and handling time. Please note the previous item price has been up to $429. At this stage, the current selling price for Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner Laser Distance Sensor NIDEC Brushless Motor is AU $429.00.

Stock is available. Kindly place an order if you are still interested.

In regards to the 20% off promotion with code POWERUP. Please note terms and conditions apply and be advised that the eBay promotions are handled by eBay and not the seller entirely. Should you have any enquiry regarding redeeming the promo code, please contact eBay directly.
      "

Pretty poor answer to be honest, I don't believe in the space of 8 hours the "listing fee, postage and handling time" would change by $40, coincidentally at the same time an eBay sale starts… Funnily enough similar sellers who are using the exact same promo images (except say 5% off instead of 20%) are still selling them for ~$380 each, however since they aren't a part of the 20% off sale their prices didn't go up.

I spoke to eBay and they told me to report the items for sellers who are doing this.

      • +1

"Stock is available. Kindly place an order if you are still interested."

        I hope you responded with…."kindly #### off"
