  • I wonder if this can be used with Deliveroo

Don't wonder, just try and tell us the outcome. You just want someone to try it or to spoon feed the answer back to you..isn't it? :)

      • Or I asked this before the deal was live so there was no way of checking in Deliveroo and thought someone would have past experience.

That's 5kg of chips just saying.

  • So happy this deal is back! They were yummo last time! However, still remember the awkward scenario where I was asked how much tips to give on card payment ..Gave $5 anyway

    • +2

      Hand in your ozbargainer card.

oz = Australa, we don't tip

Bargainer = We don't tip unless there is a special reason to do so.

      • I was pretty happy with the service and food anyway..OG…

Maybe I'll just pay with cash next time. Less fuss

    • Just say $0 if the service was normal.

  • No VIC, wth

Because there's no Jamie's Italian there (and someone pointed out earlier that there's so many decent Italian restaurants there so why would you have one there)

Really surprised there is 200+ upvotes for this. Like others have said when I have visited JO's previously I've been underwhelmed and didn't enjoy it. I figured we would try this out for lunch today and see if it felt any better. It didn't.

Between the three of us we ordered the three specials, Fresh Crab Spaghetti, Veggie Tagliatelle Bolognese and a Vegetarian Ravioli.

I had the crab spaghetti. It was a reasonable size serving. It smelt crabby and there was some meat to be seen but only a garnish amount (which is to be expected). The sauce felt quite watery and sat around the circumference of the dish and didn't mix in too well with the spaghetti on account of this. The taste wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. It didn't feel like some fine Italian-inspired cooking it felt like average quality.

The veggie tagliatelle bolognese looked to be the best of the bunch although the person that had it rated it as "a 5 out of 10 on flavour" and a "6 out of 10 overall"

The vegetarian ravioli was a different serving size/arrangement than the first two and there was a lot less of it. Maybe like 5 large pieces of ravioloi? I didn't have it but it didn't look good visually. I definitely would not order it if I go back. I'd rather sit and watch other people eat it then go buy something, anything, anywhere else

It also felt like it took a long time for us to be served. We were in the restaurant for just under an hour having ordered three of the specials and a glass of coke. Also I could be wrong, and it's not JO's fault, but the crab pasta dish is a pretty nutritionally bankrupt menu item.

    Canberra City restaurant.

    • thanks for saving my $40. not going there anymore. I had the similar experience few years ago.

    • Went to the Canberra City one as well - my friends and I didn't quite enjoy it either. Two of us ordered Crab spaghetti and one had the vegetarian ravioli (only 6 pieces!!).

Quite disappointed as that was my first visit - probably won't go back for next week's special…

    • Very similar experience except mine was tiny comparing to the other guys’. We all ordered the same food. I am surprised they didn’t even bother making sure the serve is consistent.

I went to the Canb one recently and thought it was "ok" for $10. Ordered the Crab spag and the Veggie tagliatelle. Thought the size was decent (not deliberately shrunk), ok flavour. Wouldn't say it's worth full price but I'm also very stingy with this sort of stuff too lol.

For $10 I'd say it was great. Beats any of lunch takeaway places near work, beats more expensive lower end pasta places like La Porchetta.

    • I should have read the comments here before going. Got $10 for 6 pieces of Ravioli soaked in deep oil.

They're closing down about a quarter of their restaurants in the UK.

      • Alright thanks for coming just remember to tip your bad recommend-er?

Took advantage of the offer last time and I’m back again.

Maybe the full menu prices are debatable but there is no way this isn’t worth $10.

    Thanks for posting OP!

  • on the menu there is 2 sizes for the crab spaghetti i tried, the serving was quite small, so i assume for the $10 offer they give you the smaller size? can anyone confirm?

I asked the waitress when I ordered and was advised that unless we specified "it will be the main size serving". When I received the meal there was approx 2 cups of spaghetti in the bowl.

For $10, sure it was pretty good. Tasted nice. However if I was paying the full $28.50 for what I received I would've been fairly annoyed with the amount of food.

We also ordered 2 cokes with our meal. They brought out some glasses along with 2 300ml bottles of coke (which is fine). However I was a little surprised that they charge $5 for each 300ml coke.

      • Oh right. Thanks for telling me..

I've been disappointed twice with Jamie's before (both were takeaway orders delivered to the office), but was pretty happy with the crab spaghetti. Normal sized serving, bit hard to taste the crab but the sauce is quite flavoursome - absolutely worth it for $10.

Only eaten at Jamie's Italian once. It wasn't good at all. Ordered a spaghetti Ragu with sausage. There was no sausage and it wasn't a Ragu. Was basically just a bit of oil and stock with some herbs mixed through it cooked very fast.

In their defence it was valentine's day and the two previous dishes I ordered were both cancelled so I'm guessing the chef didn't want to cancel another dish and instead attempted to rush a Ragu (never, ever do that BTW) and left out some ingredients.

It only took one small complaint and they didn't charge me so they did the right thing in the end and the Mrs had the crab pasta and loved it.

    • Was it u that made the small complaint? Or someone else

      • Me. Waitress asked how it was so I said that it wasn't very good and pointed out the issue with the dish. She came back 2 minutes later and said I wouldn't be charged.

This should be the everyday price.

  • No Melbourne stores.

Went on Friday to the one in Brisbane City. We ordered the crab and the ravioli. The 6 pieces of Ravioli were definitely not enough for a full meal, and the normal price is something like $26, which would make me angry if I got that much. The ravioli pasta itself is actually really nice, but the sauce was basically just lemon juice and oil. I still enjoyed it, but for lunch it was only just enough. My partner had the crab spaghetti. She liked the crab, but the sauce was pretty horrible in the pasta. It was just watered down tomato sauce basically.

For $20 I don't feel too upset, but I wouldn't return, even at the discounted price.

I should also point out that they were "not taking walk ins today" even though the place was relatively empty. I booked on their website instead, which they didn't offer any booking to me and came back 30 minutes later and got in.
Two other people sitting near me were quite upset because their food took so long to come out, when they appeared to be on lunch break from work.
They also served me the wrong pasta initially, but were nice and apologetic about it and corrected it quickly.

Tip on payment was skipped by my waiter quickly, I did enjoy his service, he was very pleasant.

Full size pastas @ Adel, both Crab and Tagliatelle tasted good. Decent meal for $10. Crab is just garnish, not sure if it would be same with full price too. Ultimate garlic bread is just 4 tiny bits of bread with pesto and 2-3 fried garlic flakes for the price, nothing ultimate about it, felt cheated. There is 1.25% surcharge for card payments

Dined at the Parramatta location for lunch on a weekday and happy to report that serving size was decent, service was quick and the pastas tasted good. Waiter told us about the $10 specials before we even asked and staff didn't react to the fact we only ordered two pasta dishes and table water;from this I'm guessing that they aren't fussed about customers looking to score a bargain lunch/dinner.

We got the truffle tagliatelle and the prawn linguine. The prawn pasta definitely looked more substantial so I suggest getting that one if you're hungry (the sauce needed a tiny bit more seasoning though imo). If you're after a creamy, well cooked pasta try the truffle one (the only cons was that it only had 2 "small-ish" shavings of truffle and was a slightly smaller portion that I would have liked)

Paid in cash so avoided the awkward tip issue mentioned above, but all in all we had an enjoyable and quick lunch. Hope this helps other people decide if it's worth trying out.

  • My husband and I one of each the other night. Couple next to us did the same. The octopus ravioli was our favourite. The prawn linguine was underwhelming, it was the largest serving of the three dishes but can make better tomato based pasta at home. We both also liked the truffle tagliatelle but it wasn't amazing. It was a little undercooked. Some pieces that had stuck together were chewy and it had only one shaving of truffle on top unlike others who mentioned getting 2 shavings.
Would return for the $10 deal but not for full price. My husband was still hungry afterwards but I was comfortable. We got dessert and drinks, paid a total of $80. The cocktails were not worthy of their price tag.
