Breville BES920 Double Boiler Espresso Machine $799 @ Harvey Norman

130

Been waiting on this machine to come back on sale as a single unit (not packaged with the grinder).

Myer has it at $999, HN at $799

Good Guys have it at $794 but couldn’t find any in stock near me in Melbourne.

Good buy at this price, was as low at mid $600’s last year, but this is pretty good for a hell of an appliance style coffee machine.

I picked this up at Preston HN this morning.

My BES900 is now over 5 years old and on its last legs. Steam wand leaks, pump won't run in normal shot mode if unit is left for longer than 10 min and internals are covered in calcification, so not worth trying to replace pump. So I'm on the lookout but think I'll wait for price to dip below $700 again. I'm wondering if the recent lower prices indicate an update is on the way?

    • It’s been updated already but very expensive!

The oracle is the next model up, not an update.

    • I would suggest there is an update coming. The Oracle and Barista have new models with large touch screens. I would expect that will roll out to the whole range.

I just picked up a (non-touch) Oracle 2nd hand. Very happy with it so far, but it's a learning curve coming from a fully automatic machine. If you don't know what you're doing it's hard to get consistently good coffee.

      • I think the non-touch Oracle is the one to get, but others may have reasons for why the touch screen is more worthwhile.

There have been talks of a new double boiler for months now. I agree that we are probably getting close to a new revision.

Wonder if they will put the automatic steam wand in the new model….

Knowing it was down to $640 only 6 weeks ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/350211 with the Ebay 20% off sale $799 seems a bit much as there'll always be another Ebay sale !!
and on the Good Guys web page it's listed as Clearance https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-the-dual-boiler-espr…
and the BES920 is no longer listed on the Breville AU web page https://breville.com.au/collections/espresso
Surely a new model is about to be released after the holidays

    • I'm sure another ebay deal will roll around.

For a while the machine disappeared and it was only available in the 'Dynamic Duo' pack.
You couldn't get the machine on its own.

Just before Christmas it seemed to resurface again as an individual buy, so it seems they are running out excess stock.
