One of the few items they didn't jack up the price end their previous 'sale'.

Optionally same price at futu, which seems to be the same company anyway

Usual price is around $400

One of the fastest NVMe SSDs around.

If you need faster you can go for a Intel 900p Optane ssd, which is also cheapest using the eBay voucher

EDIT: now bumped up to $356 with discount, still cheapest for now, hope everyone who wanted it got in early

  • Noticed this drives are significantly slow (2 times as slow) compared to my old Samsung 850 Pro 512GB.
I have it attached to M.2 PCIe X4 adapter card.
    Anyone else noticed the same?

    • Only thing that springs to mind - M.2 isn't NVMe, or at least not always. And with "only" 4x PCIe (what version??) lanes, you might be limiting the card.

The specs on the 960 Pro say it needs 4x PCIe 3.0 lanes, so unless your PCIe adapter and board support that, might explain the speed problems?

        • The values stated should match up with PCIe 3.0, so not sure why it would be slow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

        • +3

The most likely explanation is that the PCIe slot isn't getting the full four lanes. Some motherboards share bandwidth with other components like SATA ports, or restrict the lanes available if the other PCIe slots are full. Check your motherboard documentation for this.

  • Bought one in the last sale, they aren't really any faster than the EVO drives, they just use a more robust, IE they use MLC vs TLC…

    • +2

Pro versions with MLC have a higher sustained write speed so if you are writing very large files 13gb+ regularly which exceeds the EVO TLC cache. The EVO would then reduce speed as it would not be transfering directly from the TLC cache. (The PRO is basically aimed at professional users) You wouldn't notice any real performance gain in games for instance. Oh the PRO has 5 year Wty instead of the EVO's 3 years.

    • They aren't faster, they are more durable, which is vastly more important given how fast they already are.

  • Thank you OP, this is just in time for my new gaming PC build :)

  • Was $311.20 3 months ago.
