  • shift key font is a bit tacky

    • Looks like the same keys from the CK104.

Ugly as hell in person but the CK104 is my first mechanical keyboard.

    • Sorry, the fonts are not shift. But the photo is not good and clear enough.

  • What does "Can be DIY" mean?

    • you can change the key hats and others, and some personal settings.

  • Can we turn off the LED for good? I plan to use this in the office as my old keyboard is giving me the shits.

    • Yes, you can.

    • +8

Possibly an unpopular opinion here, but people who use mechanical keyboards in offices, especially open-plan cubefarms, are the worst kind of people. I bet you put cards in your bicycle spokes too you monster.

      • +3

Maybe you mean blue key switches which are loud. But other switches are usually no louder than membrane keys.

      • +1

No open plan here. Just me in my own office sealed from everyone else.

      • I used blue switch once in office

      • We have "Lenovo Preferred Pro Usb Keyboards" (creative name) and they sound as loud as mechanical keyboards

      • +2

You've never worked in an office with typewriters, dot matrix printers or other impact printing.
Once you have, you'll never complain Blue Switches are noisy.

        • Don't forget the fax machine dial tone

        • LOL. Just don't get a buckling spring 'board, that's guaranteed to annoy people. I had one….best damn keyboard I ever used at work….and I was told to take it home because co-workers were getting irritated by the noise. They clearly didn't appreciate the obvious awesomeness of a decent mechanical 'board that would probably outlast all of us.

If you are after a good office keyboard, try one with Cherry Red switches. There's no actuation click on these (they are 'linear') and this makes them among the quietest of the mechanical keyboards. Also since they are the red variety, they have a very low actuation force which makes typing easier.

      • I have been looking for one for quite a while. But unsure which brand to get. I have been eyeing the Filco Ninja 104 key. Any recommendations?

        • Safest bet is to get one with Cherry MX switch.

        • @pig: Anyone know where I can find Cherry switch sample?

        • @t25:
Hit up an MSY near you. I don't see why they wouldn't let you try one out.
As for a recommendation, I have the ASUS Strix tactic pro with the cherry reds. It is more on the gamer side, however it has some useful features for office use; full sized with lots of space for your hands, 10 dedicated programmable hotkeys on the LHS (good for excel macros and stuff), dedicated media play, ffwd rwnd and volume wheel, as well as adjustable yellow illumination when the light dies down. I've had it for 3 years and it's brilliant.

      • I wouldn't recommend cherry reds for work unless your typing is spot on. The low actuation force can easily lead to undesired keypresses. I have reds and am wishing I got browns. Just another point of view

What brand switches does this use? Gateron? Outemu? Kailh? Greetech?

    • +1

The brand of switches is Gateron.

      • You should put that in the description, Gateron switches are decent IMO.

        • Thanks, I will

  • Good buy?

    • +2

      yes, good buy

  • Shiet, I just bought Kogan's one yesterday…

    • +1

That was a gaming keyboard. This one is also suitable for typing words.

      • Correct me if I'm wrong but it's exactly the same except it has Kogan branding on it..

        • Yes, a lot of these mech 'boards are made by a few Yum Cha manufacturers and they just slap a different logo on them. I have a Kogan with Cherry blue switches in it and it looks pretty much identical.

        • @Chazzozz: IS this the same one that was on special recently? What's your thought on it? I didn't get it as there wasn't any reviews on it anywhere!

        • +1

          @Pentanol:
No, mine is not the exact same model, I've got an earlier one. It's very similar, though, with genuine Cherry switches. I find it's a good quality 'board without a lot of fancy features. I did have the Kogan-supplied drivers but they were really only for the onboard audio controls. I just use it as a daily writer and it's fine for that - nice feel, solid actuation, not too noisy considering it has Blue switches, and back lighting is not very garish (just orange for WASD and solid blue for everything else). I inherited it from my son who used it as a gaming 'board, and he was satisfied with its performance as well.

          Hope that helps.

  • Can the colour of the LEDs behind the keys/switches be changed to a single colour (eg. all red, instead of the rainbow effect)?

    • Sorry, can't.

      • That's a shame. Thank you for replying.

  • Subtotal was spelt as "subtatol" in the little screen before you press check out. This is a worry. Are you guys really legit?

    • You can't sell items this cheap while splurging on things like English copywriters and spellcheckers :P

    • Thanks for reminding. We will revise the word error.

  • I am really tempted to give this a try. It's an awesome price for a mechanical keyboard, and I'm just on the tipping point of getting something for work.

  • Got this brand last sale and using it now, very happy with it. Decent action and the slight curve helps my typing style.

    • yes, it is a good keyboard.

    • From what I can see it's good for the price. I'm concerned about the noise though, how bad is it at night? would I have to swap out keyboards to make sure no one in my household woke up?

  • I bought one of these on the 21/1/18. At first it was quite nice using it for work. Unfortunately, the "T", "C" and right arrow keys started malfunctioning i.e. I couldn't get it responding unless I hit it really hard which is a bit of a pain as I do use those keys often as shortcuts and typing. Due to the product stuffing up within a few weeks, I can't recommend it to anyone considering this in the future.

  • I also bought a Madgiga K360 Mechanical Keyboard. The "E", "O", "M" and down arrow keys does not work properly. Sometimes it works when I hit it really hard and other times it repeated the same character several times.

    • Could you send me a private message to discuss more info?
