          Yeah, i thought that was just a headline and what the criteria was the points below. I looked through them and it was stuff like:

          eg:

          Both didn't sound too exclusive. Anyway, this is an honest mistake and i'm sorry.

          I agree with you however there are certain circumstances which it should warrant to be shared.

          We aren't reselling someone else's item. This product can only be purchased from us. So the cheapest place period in the world for these is now eBay.

      That was my first thought.

      What is the difference between this $117 device compared to the ones less than $10? Apart from maybe I'd feel a little more comfortable shoving it into my luxury car.

        Just get on the website and have a look at it. To call it an OBD2 Car Adapter is not telling the full story. At this stage at least, it doesn't really report specific engine operating conditions, etc., like normal OBD2 devices (at least on an Android phone) - it just indicates that either there are no problems or it reports on what the specific problem is, if there is one.

        The Gofar device really excels in maintaining and reporting on fuel consumption. It can also be used by business people to maintain a logbook of travel, fuel consumption, travel time, etc. etc. It's all automatic - the driver just has to designate whether it's a business or private trip and the device does the rest. If you buy the optional 'Ray" device which sits on the dashboard, it gives a visual cue as to what effect your driving and braking is having on your fuel consumption.

        Yes, I've got one, I use it and I am quite impressed with it.

        And no, I am in no way connected at all with the company, the supplier, EBay, IS, the CIA or Playschool.

          How much money have you actually saved? Does the device give you concrete numbers? Have you broken even with the price of the device?

          $116 is around a tank and a half of petrol on a Falcon or Commodore. In a more economic vehicle that might get you from Sydney to Melbourne and half way back.

          How much time do you find you are spending looking at fuel consumption rather than the road? I use an app to monitor mine and enter date only when I fill up. Does it suggest drivers accelerate slowly onto a freeway or get up to traffic speed ready for a safe merge? Can you set it up to work as a shift light?

          To me it seems like an overpriced version of torque and an obd device combined.
          Oh of course it has a weird little device that goes red when you floor it but that's about the only difference.
          Also torque has the ability to get fuel consumption if your car monitors that information, otherwise it wouldn't be accurate (this device wouldn't be overly accurate either in that case).

          Torque only displays the information it's given.

          Our adapter is unlike the other ones you see because we've made many tweaks and changes to it based on feedback from Aussie drivers. Even though there is a standard protocol (OBD2), there are little slight changes here and there that manufacturers have made that affect the accuracy of the fuel being reported. We've had a lot of feedback about inaccuracies and made changes to the firmware (software on the adapter) to account for these.

          Also the other adapters don't have this: https://www.gofar.co/assist (this is in beta and we're only offering it to existing GOFAR customers on an invite basis or if they request).

          I don't spend ANY time looking at my fuel economy while I drive. Go to the website and have a look at how the ray works - it's a visual cue something like racecars have - it's a line of LEDs that change from blue (economic accelerating and braking) through to red (heavy acceleration or heavy braking). I wondered how useful it would be - till I started using it. This device uses its own inbuilt memory to store fuel consumption, time, date, location information and send it to the app real-time when connected to the phone, or it dumps it to the app if you haven't connected the phone (by Bluetooth) till after the trip. In the latter case, the only info missing is location data, as the device/software configuration relies on the phone's GPS to be connected when travelling.

          It was optional when I purchased it. I think that normally it is sold as an option (at $29) but it may well be included in this deal.

      You can do that occolio, however they are very insecure. Wifi is either open or has password 0000 or 1234 on all devices. And you're going to put that in your car.

      Yes, the description of this deal could actually describe the product in question, but it hardly warrants a negative vote. I don't personally own the device, but from the research I have done, it is a brilliant Australian product that would be very useful for penny-pincher drivers, caravan-ers, truckers, or people who use their vehicles for work and are eligible to claim tax back. Would definitely save time from not having to record it manually into a log book (though, I assume fuel price will still be entered manually into the app), and having a constant reminder of your driving habits/fuel economy from the 'Ray' device that sits on the dash would be beneficial to some. Having a central place to see all your data and visualize it with charts, graphs and timelines is also a nice touch. However (if it is still the case), the Android app is apparently missing some features compared to the iOS version. I'm not associated in any way with GOFAR.
