might want to check out Vodafone. They currently have the HTC Legend for $0 repayment on their 12-month $29 cap.

By my calculation, your min cost over 12 months should be (after 10% discount and 3 months free access):

$29 * 10% off * 9 months = $234.9

Which is outstanding value for a pocketable Android 2.2 phone with such strong specs. And it comes with a cap with 200mb data!

Far out, this is why i love ozbargain!

I had it in my shopping cart the other night and chickened out as I have done with so many other ozbargain deals and then the deal was amended. BUT THEN the vodafone gods shone on me and was able to pick it up with the pay upfront, beautiful!

Discovered that I still have the phone in my shopping cart…

but the page where address details are entered also has a field called "Corporate Affiliation" which is mandatory. Tried NRMA, AMSR but these are invalid.

Does anyone know what I am supposed to enter here?

  I rang the order hotline 1300 300 404 to see if they could solve it, but they could not. They suggested trying NRMA membership no, but that did not work either.
  
  Their advise was to email the team responsible for the online shop. So have done that now and am awaiting a reply. Probably won't be until Monday when it is read.

FFS!!!!!! Worst customer service ever!!!!!
Over 4hrs waiting and 5 calls. 1 immediate disconnection, 2 vague answers, 1 phone hopping and 1 network is down excuse. And still no proper answer!
I really gonna give them a mouthfull.

      you can sign up another plan and port your number. This will cancel your plan, I think.
      
      But anyway, $26 per month for 180 call credit is not bad.

Just a note. I got given a call from a lady at direct deals to get some extra info (student no.) and she then okayed the deal and said it would probably be dispatched on Monday with a 1-2 day wait.

I just found out I still got one left in my cart so I went on and checked out 10 mins ago. It did not show out of stock or stop me from buying this and I have received an order confirmation email. So why not just try and see how it goes (if you already have the phone in your shopping cart)?

      I am fairly sure international calls are included. I highly doubt Voda would honour the $500 + 1gb etc. thing especially considering that they have actually honoured the phone at this price.

      I am currently on a $29 plan with $180 call credits, I use all of that on international calls. I think Vodafone is the only carrier that allows you to use all credits that way.

  I think nothing much you/we can do, firstly they will say that the credit checking criteria is internal/confidential, i.e., they won't tell you why they are saying there is a problem with the credit checking, secondly, they will say that you/we are making an offer/application, and Vodafone does not wish to accept the offer/approve the application.

how did you find out it was aae for the courier? phone or email?

is anyone here a android guru, i have been reading up, this comes with 2.1, and 2.2 to be released soon? is the jump between 2.1 and 2.2 a big difference? is it worthwile going down the 'rooting' path? im imaging this phone will come with a lot of vodaphone crap installed

      vodafone has a usage meter which im pretty sure you can access through i.vodafone.com.au on the phone. not to mention the extra data packs e.g. $4 for 700mb, $10 for 2gb or $20 for 6gb… pretty good deals. I've been holding back on buying a data pack until I see how much internet I actually use on my phone, since I don't use any at the moment. You can buy the packs later
