  • how do you clean crevices, and under a bed or sofa?

side attachment gives you a telescopic pole with a brush.

      • What are the advantages of upright over barrel? Seems everything upright can do, barrel can also do.

        • it's heavy. louder and more. I would prefer a barrel to be honest. It's so heavy and inconvenient.

        • @Pikaloo: It has to have some advantages or no one would buy them. Better suction?

        • @lostn: I'd say it's because of the bigger bag. 6L whilst the canister one is 3.5L for the same price $23 for 4 bags. If the weight of it isn't an issue I'd say go for it, otherise just get the C3 for the same price. The weight of an upright is an issue for me, but maybe for you it isn't.

        • @Pikaloo: Oh I wasn't interested in an upright. Just curious to know why people like them.

I have C3 cat and dog and the bag is 5L, which is only 1L less than the upright's.

        • I much prefer an upright as all you have to drag around after you is the cord. With a barrel you always need to pull on the hose to get it to keep up and it's always getting stuck on furniture or corners so you need to go and move it clear. I don't understand why people like them as the're main vacuum. Good for vacuuming the car though.

        • @Rogerwilco: There are spots harder to reach for an upright. Unless you have attachments and hose, which makes them just another barrel vac. Upright on its own won't be enough to do the job. Edges for example, I use a crevice tool. Which you will need also.

        • @lostn: Odd as it may seem uprights come with these tools as well. I find that I don't need to use the tools very often. I think we should just agree to disagree that I find barrel extremely frustrating to drag around and you think uprights should go the way of the dinosaurs.

        • @Rogerwilco: If you have to use your stick and tools, you're just doing what us barrel users are doing. It's an admission that an upright on its own is not adequate for the job. You need to operate it in the same way as the rest of us to get to those tight spots. The barrel's operation is more versatile. So then the only key difference becomes whether you push the thing, or drag it with you. The barrel is easier to transport, particularly if you have a double story.

  • I wonder why nowhere in the specs on their website or even in the user manual does it state the weight of this thing. 12kg is why! My old upright was 7kg and I thought that was heavy so my new one is around 5KG. I can't imagine how hard it would be using this at 12KG.

    • are you meant to lift them off the ground or just push them around?

      • If you have stairs, steps or whatever I doubt pushing would help.

        • Fair point, but I wouldn't be using an upright for stairs..

      • lostn, the heavier they are the harder they become to push, all things being equal. Try pushing, or even towing, a Mini then a bus. Get the idea yet?

        • You ever loaded up a wheelbarrow or a shopping trolley? If the wheels aren't bad, it shouldn't take much effort to move it.

        • @lostn: Have you ever looked at the front wheels on an upright vacuum cleaner? In your example they would be closer to the shopping trolley only worse.

For the price you could get a Xiaomi robot and let it push itself around.

  • I thought these kind of vacuums stopped being made about 10 years ago. Would never go back to a corded vacuum never mind an upright one.

    • Why not corded? Cordless ones don't have the power of a corded one.

      • Nor can you use them for long before they need a 3 hour charge.

    • Thankfully there are still plenty of corded vacuums available. Cordless are ok for small jobs but not much good on carpet or rugs.

I have had one of these for 10 years. They are fantastic for cleaning carpets. They really beat the crap out of them with their power head and get all the dust out.

They are easy to move around. My older model has a headlight for seeing if you got all the dust in dark corners. I couldn't tell from the picture if this model has the headlight.

(Damn, I never thought I would be bragging about a vacuum cleaner. Where did my testicles go….)

As a woman, I am offended by your gender stereotyping. As a man, I can understand. Damn my gender fluidity.

This upright would wipe the floor with a Xiaomi robot. It will do a DEEP clean of your carpets.

You don't have to tow it around behind you like a barrel.
Built-in brushing action, which helps to remove dirt and dust that is deeply embedded in your carpet.
The brushes provide a wider cleaning area, so you cover more ground with each cleaning movement.

No I don't work for Miele I have a Sebo X4 upright. This is a good machine at a fantastic price but it is heavy and you wouldn't want to have to carry it up stairs.

Got an older model of this vacuum. It is incredible and probably the best purchase I've made for the house. Saw it on ozbargain 4 years ago from $1000 to $500. Definitely recommend over Dyson bagless vacuums. The bags are fairly cheap and last ages. The weight is probably my only issue but I don't have stairs so it works perfect. Only an issue when I move it to vacuum the car. Has 3 brush attachments for the stick vacuum thing that sit in brackets. Nice share OP
