      • Would appreciate a copy as well.

  • I was on $49 BYO plan including $200 JB-hifi voucher and I just upgraded to this deal today. I obtained the BYO plan just 3 days before this deal came out and they weren't willing to upgrade me to this one. I Just remembered about this deal again few hours ago and decided to hop on the live chat to have a go. First attempt I got knocked back by the sales team saying their usual crap and I lost hope and browsed the telstra billing help pages to see the early contract termination charge.

When I was browsing those help pages, I have decided to initiate another chat and I believe I got a billing employee, it is because her first message was

"May I know if you’ve utilized our Help and Support page to answer your concern via this link :
    https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/account-billing?…

I have asked her about upgrading and she didn't even knew if such a plan exists. After explaining that this is a special plan called family and friends, she signed me up without a hassle. However she mentioned there is no stock yet and its on backorder. I explained her that I'm willing to wait. So everything went through including credit check and I got a order number. I don't know whether they will cancel the order when it goes through their monitoring process but at least I have the transcript now lol

  • Can anyone confirm wifi calling is working on these handsets or do I need to flash Telstra firmware

    • +1

I had to disable WiFi calling feature on this phone as the calls continued to drop while connected to my home WiFi. I don't know if was definitely the WiFi calling option or Telstra network but it's all fine now and I don't need WiFi calling for now.

  • +1

For those of you that signed up via Telstra online - hope you remembered to go via Cashrewards - managed to also get $90 cashback on top of this good deal.

    • +1

How does cashrewards work with ordering through live chat?

  • +3

Cashrewards registers the click through to Telstra (you'll see it in your click history). You then order via online chat.

The order won't track, so once you get your order confirmation PDF from Telstra with order number, you raise a ticket with Cashrewards submitting your order pdf (date of order is the same date as the registered click through)

Cashrewards will then check with Telstra, who will confirm, Cashrewards gets paid, then you get paid

    • thank you, will try that

  • I have been trying to get Billing (on chat) to give me international calling ($10 pack) + $10 (new customer discount) applied and give me a reference no. I have not been able to get it after 4 different chats. They can only offer me one but not both and want me to speak to sales team. Has anyone able to get both applied on top of this deal. Can you please share your transcript or RefNo#? thanks

    • Get it done via different chats.
I had both my discounts ($10 discount and additional data) via separate chats - about 30 minutes apart

      • thanks, did you do it (discounts/chats) after you got the plan or prior

      • Hi @thorpef1, did you get international calling pack as well?

        • Hi.

No i didnt attempt to get international calling

    • Could you post your progress if you get international calling pack successfully? Thanks in advance.

      • I didnt went out to get the deal, will buy that deal this weekend and will post the details and transcripts if successful.

  • Just received an email from Telstra confirming the plan

    "OK, Lets make it official"

Looking forward to see what my first bill looks like tomorrow to ensure they have included the discount

      • Telstra app says "Go Mobile Plus BYO plan - $59"

Waiting for PDF bill to be generated so i can what is on it, should be ready by tomorrow

    • You signed up last week and its only confirmed now? Wow that seems pretty slow compared to my experience.

    • +3

      Bill is available.
      Confirmed $10 discount.
Confirmed 10gb data pack applied with no fee

  • Is it normal that when logging into My account -> Recent charges -> There is charges showing for National Calls? Will this be applied in my next bill or that won't be included?

    • Also, does International Day Pass seems to be enabled by default when logging in. I assume this needs to be deactivated?

    • When I look at 'Recent charges' on the My Account webpage it states "Recent charges do not include discounts and plan allowances."

Your plan (like mine) includes unlimited National calls, so you will be charged $0.00 for it in your next bill.

  • I just received my first email from telstra, where it says: "Your plan inclusions:
A Pixel 2 XL 64GB with no device repayments for 24 months."

The way it is written out makes me think that they mean that im free from device repayments for 24mths, but will have to start paying after that.

English is not my 1st language. How do you native speakers interprate this sentence?

    • @maiuspala
that is correct. the phone has no repayment, it is basically free. you are paying for the plan (data, unlimited call/text etc…)

      • Will this mean we will be able upgrade to a better deal with Telstra later down the track without having to pay for the handset, given that Telstra usually waves the plan cancellation fee when a customer upgrdaes to a better plan?

        • @Gloriaaa
I hope so. I read in the news, an "Unlimited Data Plan War" has already started between Telstra and Vodafone.

    • I would be careful with that.
When I go into the Telstra app it states:

      Cost to alter contract.

      Plan early termination charge. $698

      Device buy out. $1396

  • went into jbhi yesterday they said it was 69 with only 15gb?

    • Yes, I believe that the offer was modified (+$10) and extended.

    • Offer was always 15gb. Some have gotten an extra 5gb from chat or when signing up.

An extra $10 now. If you can wait intil end of for next batch of amazing deals as will probablyobably include ipone x, pixel xl 3, samsung 9+ by then. But no guarantee at all.

  • I have had no luck with Telstra Chat for the bonus date and discount. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

    • This is discussed more than few times in this thread. You will need to read through it specially last 6-7 pages.

  • guys

    is this deal still on?

    • +1

      @dying4004
I was at JB Hifi on May 2nd. I was told this deal is still available but there has been some changes. And JB Hifi is very much focus on the other deal $49 plan Samsung S9/S9+ 25GB data 12 months $500 JB Hifi Giftcard (only can be used to buy S9/S9+ phones, deal expires today May 5th)

This is what I have been told by the JB Hifi sales consultant
$59 plan will include Google Pixel 2, Google Home Mini, Earphones 15GB data, 24 months
$69 plan will include Google Pixel 2 XL, Google Home Mini, Earphones 15GB data, 24 months

      • Managed to get a snapshot of one of the JB Hifi promotion currently in store today, May 5th
$69 plan will include Google Pixel 2 XL, Google Home Mini, Earphones 15GB data, 24 months

        Breakdown is as follows:
$59 plan +$10 handset fee = $69 per month plan

        https://i.imgur.com/apJFmaO.jpg

        • Cheers, so a little more expensive than previously. What about the S9 deal?

  • +2

I managed to upgrade to this after S9 deal. Let's see how the first bill works out though.
    Summary of deal:
    S9 64GB $699
Google Pixel 2XL (not sure if I'll get Google Home)
    $49/month 25GB 24 months
    $10 delivery charge

    • Wow, so steps to recreate is to go jbhifi sign up for so then go home online chat and say you want to upgrade to the Google pixel 2xl?

      • Per the comment below, I had to go through Telstra complaints.

A lot of hassle but I got this having to go through: 2 online chats who said I was good to get it but had to do in store, 1 phone call with an unhelpful rep, 3 store visits - one said I should be fine but do on phone, and two of them said I was ineligible but the final one said to lodge a complaint, which I did.

They called me just today with no hassle.

    • @pf2
Why $10 delivery charge? I would contact Telstra again to ask them to waive the $10 delivery charge if any. It is supposed to be FREE.

I am 85% sure you will get the Google Home Mini. It's a Bundle (Phone + Google Home Mini + Earphones). Shrink wrapped.

      • Honestly I didn't want to push my luck. Wasn't expecting to get it at all. The guy was really nice about and now that the new F&F deal is $69 for 2XL he gave me another $10 so it matched my BYO plan without asking. $10 is nothing really so not fussed.

        • @pf2
Are you assuming there will be a $10 Delivery fee, perhaps by looking up your Order Number? or did the Telstra case manager actually told you that you will be charged $10 delivery fee?

        • @Sydney11:
He told me there will be a $10 fee, and it says so on my Order Estimate that I have since received.

        • @pf2:
ok. like you said its a good bargain :)

    • Silly question but when you pay the $699 for the S9, do you get your money back when you switch to the Pixel 2 XL?
If not, it's not really a good deal.
You'd be better off just going with the $59 +$10 deal

      • No I didn't. It would be too good to be true to get both the S9 and Pixel 2XL for free!

By $59+$10 do you mean the Optus S9 deal or the new Pixel 2XL deal? You can argue the Optus S9 (to own) is a better deal than the $699 handset deal also depending on your preference on whether you're locked in for 24 months with Optus. If you mean the new Pixel 2XL $59+$10 deal then I'm getting a Google Pixel 2XL for $49? I want the S9 so I kept it.

The reason this is a deal is because over 24 months I may have spent $219 extra but I get an extra phone (and potentially Google Home/earphones, still waiting on my package!) that I can sell or gift, plus TRS from the S9.

  • To whom has no luck as same as me, just open a complain case via telstra, they will upgrade your jb hi fi 49 plan or add the 5 gb data for no hassle.

  • So my plan was upgraded today to this new plan. Got on chat and asked for $10 discount saying "I was asked to contact you back after my new plan is activated to get the $10 ongoing discount because it gets removed by the system automatically when changing plans" easy enough they applied the discount. Then chatted to them again for 5GB bonus data with the same made up reason and it was added too. So now I have 25GB of data and plan is $49 lol

    • But 15+5 is 20. Did you get 2 x 5?

      • Somehow I got 20GB when moved to this plan. I was upgrading from JB-hifi BYO 12 month deal which I got 2 months ago. When asking for bonus data she said it is already applied to the account. But I told her that I didn't ask for it and I got 20GB+5GB extra from the same $59 BYO deal before lol. And here's her response,

        NXXX:
I understand that you will get 10 GB bonus data other than 15 Gb data per month.

        NXXX:
I will quickly process te 5 Gb bonus data, please stay connected.

    • Upgraded from which plan?

      • +1

JB-hifi BYO 12 month deal with $200 gift card which I got 2 months ago

  • What's the current JB HiFi Samsung deal?

  • Anyone know which is better?

Pixel 2 XL or Samsung S9?
I'm more interested by the Pixel, but maybe the galaxy is good too?

    • +1

You are asking in a thread that has 18,000 click throughs for the Pixel so there may be a bit of biased towards the Pixel.
I love my pixel, but i havent had a look into the SG9 at all

      • I Hated my S7 with a passion.
I've always wanted the pixel, I'm guttered I missed the $59 deal.
Looks like I'll still go for the $69

  • +1

I know it says expired, but has anyone managed to still get this recently? Or what is the best deal for either samsung S9 or pixel 2/2 XL at the moment?

    • Right now, the same deal exists at JB Hi Fi for $59 + $10 for the device (Pixel 2 XL)
Comes with Google Mini and Earphones

      • Thanks. Where is the link to that deal?

  • I went to JB HiFi The Strand in Sydney
Signed up to the $59 +$10 deal.

Contacted Telstra chat less than an hour later.
Bullshited about being promised a $10 discount.
Ref (Rohan) processed the discount (I said I was given a ref # but the script wasn't sent to my email)
Now I'm gonna try the extra 5GB (I was told it was applied but I can't see it

    • Maybe not the best thing to write?

      • +2

        My bad.

Got the 5GB applied too when I went back to confirm.
Pretty good customer service I must say.

        I now have 20GB + Pixel 2 XL for $59 per month.

  • +2

The Pixel 2 XL is eligable for the Android P Beta program if anyone is interested
    https://www.google.com/android/beta

I installed it and am giving it a good go - no major concerns just yet

    • I did too.

      I like it so far

  • So

    1. Goto JB hi-fi and sign up for $49 with plan and phone
    2. Go online Telstra chat and upgrade to $59 plan with pixel?
    • What's the benefit in doing that? Would you not still be locked into the 24mth plan?

  • +1

Anyone who got this phone having issues with the headphone jack adapter?

It's very temperamental and the last two times I've wanted to use earphones I haven't been able to get them to work.

    • +1

Had the same problem. Required a phone restart to get it going. Not sure why. Maybe the adapter is software-calibration based?

  • Anyone that have replaced his/her Nexus 6P with the Pixel 2 XL and is happy with the deal?

Not sure if it is worth upgrading now or waiting for Pixel 3….

My Nexus 6 P is not on a contract but battery is failing.

Cost for new battery is app. $80

    • Technology is changing day by day, go by ur need I would say. If u think can manage another 6 months or longer with new battery so then wait for it.

Deals are coming now and then .. wait and watch if you can.

Has anyone got on live chat to demand compensation for the 2nd major outage in May yet?

I did before and they said I will be compensated once the outage has been resolved including reasoning for it and gave me a reference number.

Not sure what we should be asking for, I think a free month is the minimum I will be asking for. Interested to hear what others think or may have asked for.

    • Nice, let me know what they say. I should do the same

    • +1

LOL you couldn't use your phone for an hour and you think you will get a month free? Their uptime is still like 98% c'mon get real

      • yes, LOL

    • Apply for a business plan with a 100% SLA (if that exists).
Then they are entitled to reimburse you. Otherwise, good luck!

      • I said compensate, not reimburse. I take it you didn't try either @fanuch ?

  • I know I'm late to the party, is this deal still available?? :(

    • It says deal expired.

      • +2

        !@#$, cant believe I didn't see this deal :'(

        Deal of the decade!!!

        • Yep. My wife got lucky and got 12 months instead of 24 months at $49.. + $200 gift card.
          $49 x 12 = $588
          - $200 Gift Card = $388
          + Pixel 2 XL we sold for $900 = $512 profit + free data sim…

        • @R3XNebular:

          Which JB honoured this deal?

        • @jollster101:

Wasn't JB. JB Hifi gave me the wife the $200 gift card with the 12 months. Then we upgraded to the 24 month with the Pixel 2 XL.
They had trouble provisioning and then eventually the deal expired and there was no longer the $59 24 month Pixel deal and only the $69 24 month pixel. They ended up moving my wife to the $59 12 month 10GB + 15GB Plan with $10 discount.

        • +2

          @R3XNebular:
What kind of wife did they give you? Any issues yet?

        • @reactor-au:

Getting constant notifications it is very annoying, how do I stop them?

        • @R3XNebular:
If you mean text message for every missed call, then yeah, very annoying and dont know how to stop them.
Had a chat with support and they claimed tonhave stopped them, but still getting them.
I came from amaysim, hoping Telstra to be top of the class, but am disappointed every time i have to deal with Telstras customer service.

        • +1

          @maiuspala:

          nah meant the wife lol

  • -4

Google Pixel 2 doesn't have an SD Card. Massive deal breaker for me considering how many times i interchange these cards.

  • The deal is still going at JB & Telstra from what I heard. Go in store and ask.

It is now $59 (+$10 for the phone) for 15gb - so basically $10 more expensive than the original offer.

You can probably still get the $10 port in bonus too, ask on live chat before you go in.
