anything but boost is considered as port-in

        • @Zues981: How can boost be considered upgrade and not port in? Like others is on the network but not exact same just like Belong?

  • if I get this plan I can sell the phone and put the sim into my current phone (LG v20) right?

So what you're saying is…Phone is fine?

        • Phone is fine

      • sorry to ask a dumb question, but my unlocked phone will be able to use the telstra sim right? (ie. would Telstra know/care if I put their sim into my own phone and not their Pixel XL?)

        • No. In fact the rep asked me if I wanted to put the sim in my old phone and set up the new one later.

          @Kikiriki: cool thanks mate :)

    • Telstra Rep says no - but what do they know?

  • Still have 8 months left on my Optus 12m sim only contract damn what a good deal..

  • FREE delivery if ordering online

    Oh, there's a delivery fee?
    on a $1500 transaction?

    Giancarlo at 16:43, Feb 28:
    Correct, $9.95 delivery fee applies.
No worries, I'll waive the delivery fee for your order.
You no longer pay the amount.

    • Yeh everyone should take note of the terms and conditions when signing up online! It should get waived when you ask… apparently premium delivery isn't available for this offer

  • I've been fighting over Live chat and they don't allow me to upgrade from the BYO plan to the Google Pixel 2XL $59/Mth, 15GB Plan.
THEY SAY IT'S FOR PORTING NUMBERS ONLY!!!
Who said it was for upgrading too ??
    I've tried 3 different reps :(

        Did you read the comments?

        • -5

          Did you read the title?

      • +2

I read it… but someone before (Telstra Associated) said it's for Upgrading customer also.
Or did I misread something ?

    • Darn, hopefully JB Hi-Fi staff can do something
      I'm going to try tomorrow

  • Called my friend at JB hi-fi and they tried to do it for me over the phone. System was disabling the option to continue unless it was a port. Not sure how others have got the deal that are already with Telstra

    • This

    • Maybe JB can't override the system, but Telstra can? And the ones successful have done it via Telstra chat.

    • I've called up a couple of Telstra stores near me and they said I can upgrade from the BYO Telstra plan so maybe try in store?

      • You mean it is OK to sign the BRO plan get gift card and then change to this plan?

      • I've been told via Live chat that you can actually upgrade without any exit fees from BYO plan to ANY phone plan, BUT the Google Pixel 2XL 15Gb - $59/Mth plan.
That plan is reserved for newly ported number only (not Telstra clients).
They have admitted on chat that some existing Telstra clients actually got it but it has been a mistake from Rep side and they are investigating this…

  • Are people getting the free google home mini when doing it on Online Chat?

    • +1

      Yes. I can confirm.

  • Just ported successfully from Optus at JB, the rep was really surprised no one else has seen the deal before this, thanks OP!

  • Just got this at JB HiFi, such a good deal!

    • +4

Did you get the $200 gift card at all?

      • interested as well

      • +1

I did it at JB as well and was told no gift card for this deal. They're offering it with the BYO phone deal

      • +1

No they dont give the giftcard with this deal unfortunately :(

        I tried!

        • I rang jbhifi and they said the deal ended with them on Tuesday and it's now $79?????

      • Sorry, nah I didn’t get a gift card

  • +1

Can i get this deal in Perth ??

    • +1

      • I am on online chat now. It says google home mini available until supplies last

        • Yeah, I'm haggling again. haha.

still have 5 months left with optus. maybe another amazing s9+ deal pop up in time.

  • +11

Got the deal from JB HiFi and can confirm it comes with the extra headphones and google home mini. The person I went through was also able to throw on an extra 10 gigs to my plan so I have 25 gigs per month. Under extra's its down as "10GB Mobile Data Share Bonus - Until Recontract". Sounds like it may end after the 2 years.

edit. Just realized the headphones that come with it are wired which is funny since the phone doesn't have a headphone jack

    • Wired and not USB-C unfortunately. 10/10 negotiating skills though Bongo!

    • That’s awesome!!

And the headphones are type-c :)

      • haha nope. Got a pair of Pipe Earphones that are 3.5mm! Did other people from JB get USB C headphones?

        • +1

Oh damn lol so did I, the rep said otherwise, I think it comes with an adaptor though inside

    • I'm going to JB HIFI after work to do this, but the lady on the phone said she's not able to throw in that extra 10GB. What did you to get them to do it? haha

      • I'm interested too, as I've got it rejected at local JB hifi

      • Should we ask what was done to get the extra? 😱 shock

      • +1

Must have lucked out with the jb rep. I really didn't bargain hard or anything was just asking about getting any extras and and she said she could see if she could throw on 10 gigs extra.

    • That's the standard hardware bundle…

    • wow that's awesome mate-congrats! but did u get the pixel+phones+mini all while you were there? I read here that Telstra tells people subject to stock availabiliy (which sounds like a bit of a gamble?!)

      • Yeah it was all plastic wrapped up together there.

  • I am wondering if the $90 cash back works using cashreward on this deal if i process my application online.

    • I don't think it goes through online, only via chat if you get someone agreeable. No cashback via chat.

    Melbourne

Went to the Queen St x Collins St store, they told me the store must have stock, and the phone cannot be placed on back order.
They told me the only store they knew that had stock was the mega store on the corner of Swanston St x Bourke St.

I was told you can either choose the Pixel 2 or the Pixel 2XL.

They are pre-packed (image-1, image-2) and you can choose your colour - either "Just double black" or "panda white" based on what is in stock in the packs.

The pack includes a Pixel 2/2XL, a Google Home Mini, and Wireless (which need a wire?) Headphones.

The cabinet mine came from had another 10 on the shelf at the time.

Lastly, I was told the phones are not locked. Segue, anyone looking for a Pixel 2XL and "wireless" headphones?

Porting was done on the spot, and it came through in 5 minutes of accepting - and my phone had no signal (from AldiMobile pre-paid).

    Staff were very helpful!

  • is this an unlimited call & text plan, or how many minutes / call credit per month?

Also, is it possible to get an extra shared data sim included, or does that cost $5 per month?

    • +1

      unlimited call & text plan

It is - confirmed with online rep.

In case anyone missed seeing it, this is all the info on the deal https://m.imgur.com/a/mImdG

Oh wow… I admit I'm a little salty. I only just went with Telstra literally just on the 16th of Feb for the Google Pixel2 $79 family & friend limited offer, and now they're offering the XL model (or the same as I got) for $59? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get switched to the cheaper plan given it is literally less than 2 weeks since they updated the offer?

EDIT: In case it might help out any one else out, I just spoke to an accounts rep over the phone and explained the situation that I only recently ported over. She needs her supervisor to sign off on it but given I only just ported over, she proposed to apply a monthly discount of $10, so I pay $69 a month instead of $79. She also said because I signed up at a Telstra shop, to go back there tomorrow and explain the situation and they may have the power to switch my plan to the $59 too. Will keep you guys updated after I visit the store.

    • +1

Best of luck! I'd be surprised if they didn't help you out :)

      • Update since yesterday: I just dropped by the Telstra store that I originally signed up at. The Rep I spoke to originally has today off but the person who helped me out today was the store manager himself. He mentioned that a few people had already dropped by with the same query. At the present time he has received no instructions from Head Office whether they can make any special allowances or discounts for client who signed up early in the promo. I can tell he's sympathetic and understanding of the situation so I didn't make any fuss. As I was leaving, he stopped me and mentioned he will pass my concern to Head Office and will have a chat to them, and he took down my details to give me a call in case anything changes. End of the day, even if nothing happens, $79/month is still a great deal so I'm still happy I signed up when I did :)

  • I see they offer data share sims for $5 a month.

What i want to know is do they offer the same as optus where if 2 mobile plans are on the same bill the data is shared?
So if i signed up for 2 Pixel2 XLs, would we have a pool of 30GB instead of 15GB each?

    • +1

Yes that’s correct, if 2 are on the bill the total space will be 30gb between you, this is the text I got when I joined.

“We'd like to confirm you are now on a Shared Data plan. Your monthly shared data allowance is 15.00GB. There is 1 service in your Shared Data group who may use this data allowance.”

      • Thanks. Gotta try and get into JB tomorrow then.

  • +1

I ported into a BYO three weeks ago after 12 years on Optus with a view to buy this phone on plan at the right price.

Feeling like a salt mine right about now.

Any fellow BYOers been able to shake this?

    Cheers.

    • +1

Ring and ask. They might do it for you.

    • +1

I only signed up to a BYO recently and managed to get this deal

      • How did you manage that? Very keen to find out!!

        • Online chat > Mobiles on a Plan > Buy online. Then asked if they could do it. And they did

  • Very interested in this deal, my 6P contract is up with optus tomroorw and I was going to hold until a pixel 3 but I don't think i can pass this up. Unless someone can me otherwise ?

What's is the insurance like with Telstra? And how much extra is it on top of the $59?

    • Do you need the insurance? Did you use it when Optus?

      • +1

I did use it with optus, if I was to loose it and break it I would be stuffed. My previous phone before my 6P I broke about 3 months in and I couldn't do anything about it. So I figured from now on I would just go on a plan with insurance.

        • Yeah fair enough. How much is the insurance with Telstra?

    • +1

I got the deal and am holding onto my 6P and selling the 2 XL - no reason to upgrade yet :)

    • +1

I got told the insurance is $15 per month extra, and have to do it when you get the plan, you can get it after you leave.

    • If you like the size of XL, I feel this deal would be better than Pixel 3 (especially if you consider the time frame in which you will pull the trigger get the Pixel 3).

If you want the XL / a new phone then go for it. If you want to wait and are contempt to using your current phone for a year till you pull the trigger on a new phone then do that instead :D

that… or sell it… and wait for Pixel 3! (I think it should be around the same price)

  • -2

Real salty I convinced myself to go with a Mate 10 Pro on the $59 Optus deal a few months back now, considering I wanted a Pixel XL 2. Just never thought I'd see it at my maximum price point of $59 at all, let alone this early. On a better network too.

  • Just signed up with porting with Jestoni on online chat - Google Mini included. :)
