  • Horizontal angle of view: 33°–16°

    • would work fine in a hallway but besides that…

Over 560 real price or bs

      nah its real

Axis is among the top end of cameras like Mobotix and that sort, kind of thing westfields would use

      • Indeed this is correct. It's not only the hardware - the Axis software is pretty top notch as well.

      • +1

Ok, must be the reason it's expired. Had one in stock

      • Westfields use Sony, which is damn good (and expensive) too.

All the old big boys (Axis,Pelco,Honeywell,Sony,Samsung,Bosch…) are been slaughtered by current generation Chinese cameras from Hikvision and Dahua. Soon big boys will be out of market. Security road show test results prove the same very year.

        • @hotwinter:
I really doubt Chinese cameras support and development will ever be on par with other brands. For big companies supports is more important than actual price.
If you ever tried configuring Hikvision and Samsung NVRs you'd notice there's vast difference in the GUI and overall logic of the configuration. Some of modern Chinese NVRs have same configuration interface as we saw in 2005.

        • @pupkin: support?
Axis average RMA return is about 4 weeks if they have stock locally. Even advance replacement still takes more than a week or 2. Closest support team based in Singapore. No doubt their firmware is the best for now.
Pelco? Come on, for same the price I would be happy install 5 higher spec/image quality Dahua.
Bosch? They've never been in the IP world.
Honeywell OEM all their cameras from Dahua from about 2 years ago.
Sony mostly on sensor production only. Their cameras are structurally flimsy.
Samsung camera is pretty good in quality but not worth the price difference.
Hikvision and Dahua's products are getting improved all the time. Firmware and support is catching up really quick. Love their prompt local support.

        • @hotwinter:
Some love BMW, some Holden, some Haval. It'll be market for everyone.

        • @pupkin: Hopefully with the price performance ratio from these Chinese manufacturers would wake up those old boys. Or they could be never wake up.

        • Noticed Mater hospital (Brisbane) running all Hikvision. MAde me feel better :)

      • Mobotix rarely produced any good camera. Their legendary cameras mostly from marketing department. Still remember the 5MP dual lens cam driven by a single core 800Mhz processor hardly produce over 10fps. That's a year and half ago, not last century.

        • Do you have any indoor cameras you'd recommend for under $100 or so?

        • +1

@destroyerx: Under $100 is difficult for any decent performance and reliability. Dahua 2MP HDCVI is in the range. It's great for upgrade use existing coax and power cable, but has to pair with HDCVI recorder. For around
$150 you will have some decent fixed lens Dahua 4MP camera to choose from. They run special to this kind of price every month or 2. Just don't get any from ebay shipped from China. They only use cracked old firmware which will not talk properly to oversea server.

  • Hikvision all the way. Loving my system, especially the 2 ptz's.
